Russian Datalounger Chains Himself to McDonalds in Desperation
A man in Russia today, Luka Zavtravkin, the son of pianist Nikas Safronov, chains himself to a McDonald’s and screams, “They don’t have the right to close down!” before he’s carted off by the police. Someone in the crowd yells back, “In six weeks, they’ll reopen under another name!”
Mis-identified as his father in initial tweet, clarified below.

He’s about the right size for the average DLer, he’s only missing the caftan.

No more Big Macs to him. Traditional borscht soup will suit him well.

What fun. Silly public theatrics while their country is occupying another, destroying its infrastructure and slaughtering civilians. hahahahahahahahahha

McDonalds is open in Ukraine. He can defect, join the Ukrainian Army and enjoy bacon and egg McMuffins for snidanok.

R12, no that's not me. I swear.
R11, today is the last day McDonald’s is officially open in Russia. So there were some crowds saying their farewells. Also an iconic location. Its the site of the very first McDonald’s in the former Soviet Union.
But apparently, they are just going to re-brand and re-open in few months as all technology, staff, and facilities are fully functioning and all ingredients are also made locally.

Meanwhile, McDonald's has just donated every piece of their Russian infrastructure to Vlad.

No wonder he's so upset. It looks like every meal he's ever had in his life came from McDonalds.

I bet Vlad won't pay the workers as much as the real McDonald's does.

Actually, his father is a painter/artist, NOT a pianist.

Good luck with that. The civilized world cut off the internet and credit card access from Russia. You can starve assholes.

I love the Russian and/or Chinese trolls who are convinced Russia can rebrand the existing McDonalds’ and use Chinese payment systems.
If McDonalds’ business model could be easily replicated, it wouldn’t be worth tens of billions of dollars. Besides, even the Mecca of IP theft, China, has nearly 3,500 McDonalds franchises. Maybe Russian stores will be able to restock through other countries, but it’s surprising how the food doesn’t always translate…and people will notice.

If I was McDonalds, I’d strip it all to the bare walls. If running a fast food restaurant is so easy, Russia can simply buy the equipment from abroad and…oh wait.

All their ingredients are locally sourced, r48. Russia being the world's largest producer of grain, they won't be running out of buns for starters.

I realize Vlad is a short-sighted idiot, but I doubt he’s going to use Russia’s limited resources on supplying the country’s McWarcrimes franchises with buns.
