Idiot 'Freedom Convoy' Truckers Insult Jews By Blowing Shofars
[quote] A video circulating on social media on Saturday shows a group of truckers from the "Freedom Convoy" blowing curved horns, or what Jews call "shofars." These ancient musical horn are typically made of a ram's horn and are used for Jewish religious purposes. Chabad.org explains the meaning and purpose of a shofar as: "a trumpet made from the horn of a kosher animal with the marrow removed." It is blown during the High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year, which consists of 2 days of religious services) during the month of Elul, and at the end of Yom Kippur to mark the end of the day of fasting.
I have a feeling the trolls on this board will ignore this insult to Jews in favor of posting on the "Israel โshouldnโt exist as a Jewish state,โ Amnesty USA director tells Democratic group" thread.

When they are used by non-Jews for something other than a Jewish religious purpose, then they are by definition just a musical horn made of a ram's horn, and not a shofar. It's exactly the same as wine being communion wine when it's used for communion, and when it's not, it's just wine. So faux outrage.

This dog won't hunt. The horn has also left the temples.
Since 1988 Rome-based American composer Alvin Curran's project Shofar features the shofar as a virtuoso solo instrument and in combination with sets of natural and electronic sounds. ๐ด๐๐
๐๐๐๐ used a shofar played by Yitzhak Sinwani on the Confessions Tour and the album Confessions on a Dance Floor for the song "Isaac", based on Im Nin'alu. In 2003, The ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐
๐บ๐๐๐๐ Show featured a contest called "Blow the Shofar", which asked callers to correctly identify popular songs played on the shofar. Additionally, Stern Show writer Benjy Bronk has repeatedly used a shofar in his antics.[37] The shofar is sometimes used in Western classical music. Edward Elgar's oratorio The Apostles includes the sound of a shofar, although other instruments, such as the flugelhorn, are usually used instead.
The shofar has been used in a number of films, both as a sound effect and as part of musical underscores. Elmer Bernstein incorporated the shofar into several cues for his score for Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments; one of the shofar calls recorded by Bernstein was later reused by the sound editors for Return of the Jedi for the Ewoks' horn calls.[citation needed] Jerry Goldsmith's scores to the films Alien and ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐s also incorporate the shofar in their orchestration.

It was stupid but with no antisemitic intent. Or at least I suspect having done no research but just knowing that these guys are primarily just stupid.

Would anyone need to say it when it seems to be amnesty's argument?

I always thought this was a viking thing. Would never associate it with Jews. Also, I think there are around 20 or 25 total Jewish people in Canada, kind of like how we only have around 20 or 25 black people so it's something we wouldn't ever think about.

Oh, give the Jews a break. Every group is offended by something. Let them have their moment.

Do you really think these Douchebros have any concept of what a "Shofar" is? It looks manly and makes noise louder than a fart

This is too dumb though. I would like my community to have higher standards as to what to be offended about.
