Old People TV Viewing Habits

Which do you watch? Are you old?

by Anonymousreply 72March 23, 2022 12:06 PM

Peyton Place!

by Anonymousreply 1March 12, 2022 4:01 AM

Walking Dead ( No jokes please) This is Us Mrs Masiel

by Anonymousreply 2March 12, 2022 4:04 AM

I watch The Bonnie Franklin Show on Antenna TV.

by Anonymousreply 3March 12, 2022 4:05 AM

None of those, OP.

by Anonymousreply 4March 12, 2022 4:06 AM

I was thrilled when the channel with Hawaiian Eye started showing 77 Sunset Strip before it.

by Anonymousreply 5March 12, 2022 4:08 AM

I Love Lucy

by Anonymousreply 6March 12, 2022 4:09 AM

The 250th episode of Blue Bloods is tonight.

by Anonymousreply 7March 12, 2022 4:12 AM

Anything in black and white on the mesothelioma channels

by Anonymousreply 8March 12, 2022 7:00 AM

Matlock.

by Anonymousreply 9March 12, 2022 7:01 AM

I’m changing that to the Final Expense channels.

by Anonymousreply 10March 12, 2022 7:04 AM

I'm an Eldergay who gave up on regular TV 10 years ago. It's aimed mostly at 60+ year old people with a similar IQ. I don't know how anyone can watch TV it's all awful

by Anonymousreply 11March 12, 2022 7:12 AM

What R4 said.

You don't know old people very well, do you, OP?

Currently, my "must watch" show is "Severance." Here's a thread about it that shows me that few people here are watching it. You should check it out! Prior to that show, I watched "Maid" - another great show. As far as "old people shows" go, if there's nothing else on, I watch Mary Tyler Moore, as do many of you.

The Honeymooners. When I was growing up most of the young people were addicted to the reruns. Maybe the only sitcom that holds up consistently. But then it was only one season.

by Anonymousreply 13March 12, 2022 7:34 AM

My mom would watch any Lifetime or Hallmark Channel movie. When she got tired of those, it was Law & Order (any flavor), NCIS or Blue Bloods reruns. Ion TV is like their mecca.

by Anonymousreply 14March 12, 2022 7:37 AM

R13, one of my OTA channels has "The Lost Honeymooners" with skits that came from the original Jackie Gleason Show. They're not all good, but they're worth a watch. Maybe you can find it.

by Anonymousreply 15March 12, 2022 7:39 AM

There is not a single main network program I watch. I sampled the first several episodes of Blue Bloods and couldn't get int o it.

by Anonymousreply 16March 12, 2022 9:24 AM

If Mother isn't watching cooking or house-flipping shows, she's watching Blue Bloods.

Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune are the only other things she will watch aside from her weight and mine.

by Anonymousreply 17March 12, 2022 9:34 AM

Law and Order SVU = cringe

by Anonymousreply 18March 12, 2022 9:37 AM

PBS, or it's switched off, which is all day and only a few hours in the evenings.

by Anonymousreply 19March 12, 2022 9:41 AM

Dancing With the Stars

by Anonymousreply 20March 12, 2022 10:00 AM

Watching Saturday Morning Cartoons (like Disney's Gummy Bears, Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Chip & Chap Rescue Rangers, Higher for Hire, etc.) while eating Nutella sandwiches.

by Anonymousreply 21March 12, 2022 10:06 AM

Short version: Acorn TV and Britbox.

Though, my straight in-laws from Indiana (ten years older) do watch Blue Bloods, NCIS, and reruns of Matlock; so, OP isn't wrong about old people, just Gay old people.

by Anonymousreply 22March 12, 2022 10:17 AM

Matlock. Now and forever.

by Anonymousreply 23March 12, 2022 5:22 PM

Maaaaaaaaaaatloooooooock!

by Anonymousreply 24March 12, 2022 5:54 PM

“Ssshhhhh! It’s almost time for my stories…

by Anonymousreply 25March 12, 2022 7:05 PM

OP I am 70 and don't watch any of those shows, you need to get out more.

by Anonymousreply 26March 13, 2022 10:50 PM

I'm old, but I'm not that old.

by Anonymousreply 27March 13, 2022 10:51 PM

I just watch those Jimmy Walker and Joe Namath Medicare ads on an endless loop. My grandson photoshopped them for me (is that the right term)?

by Anonymousreply 28March 13, 2022 10:57 PM

I'm old, but I don't watch any of those shows, except for Dark Shadows in the past. I watch shows that have young hot guys in them.

by Anonymousreply 29March 13, 2022 11:30 PM

Just started rewatching the Turn of the Screw storyline on Dark Shadows which introduced Quentin. Also have been watching Perry Mason again.

by Anonymousreply 30March 13, 2022 11:35 PM

I’m 67. I don’t watch tv at all, I stream everything via Samsung projection in my bedroom and study. Not really into any of the programs you listed, or reruns of old series at all.

by Anonymousreply 31March 13, 2022 11:39 PM

I'm 58 gwm, I do watch Wheel of Fortune religiously (right after Jeopardy!), occasionally Dark Shdows reruns on Decades TV, I guess that makes me an old fart farting his way through a gaseous life...

by Anonymousreply 32March 14, 2022 12:07 AM

^^I also like the classic cartoons on Saturday mornings, and during the weekdays, on Metv.^^

by Anonymousreply 33March 14, 2022 12:09 AM

^^^Addams Family, Leave it to Beaver, I Love Lucy, I still enjoy them most every day...

by Anonymousreply 34March 14, 2022 12:11 AM

I watch Dark Shadows every day.

by Anonymousreply 35March 14, 2022 12:42 AM

R5 I switch to those in the morning when I’m tired of local news.

by Anonymousreply 36March 14, 2022 1:52 AM

I am 52.5 years old. I watch sports, mostly football, YouTube, Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, I Can See Your Voice, Dateline, and The Masked Singer.

by Anonymousreply 37March 14, 2022 1:57 AM

I recently discovered they're showing the old Perry Mason series on MeTV (twice a day!). I've become hooked on it. Except for the old chestnut of the guilty party being revealed in the last second in the courtroom (Yes, I killed him!), the show is really well-written. I love it.

by Anonymousreply 38March 14, 2022 1:59 AM

Gary Cole is the new lead actor on the NCIS ensemble now. Anyone with a fetish for slim, charismatic geriatrics will enjoy. Monday nights on CBS!

by Anonymousreply 39March 14, 2022 2:06 AM

R39 didn’t he play the A##hole boss from Office Space? Limberg?

by Anonymousreply 40March 14, 2022 2:12 AM

Yes r40 but Gary Cole is a hot daddy on NCIS now. Imo he looked like a weird pedo on Office Space when he was younger and clean shaven.

by Anonymousreply 43March 14, 2022 2:28 AM

The Weather Channel

by Anonymousreply 44March 14, 2022 5:42 AM

When I was in high school My Sunday night viewing started with 60 Minutes followed by Murder she wrote and to top off my evening Are you being Served on IPTV. I remember one Sunday spending time with my bf and thanking GOD he got me home in time for "The Corpse Had a Familiar Face (TV Movie) Starring Elizabeth Montgomery.

by Anonymousreply 45March 14, 2022 8:50 AM

None. I haven't even had a TV plugged in for years - I only stream on my computer. I'm a 40-year-old millennial so that may be considered old in gay land !

by Anonymousreply 46March 14, 2022 11:12 AM

Falcon Crest (free on imdb). Currently at the end of season 3. Maggie has a brain tumor, Melissa gives custody of Joseph to Cole and Linda, the cartel is threatening Miss Lynch, Terry (Maggie's sister) has been causing trouble all season, and Richard is building the Tuscany Downs racetrack.

by Anonymousreply 47March 14, 2022 5:53 PM

Petticoat Junction, and anything with Jack Benny.

by Anonymousreply 48March 14, 2022 5:57 PM

Don't watch any of those shows OP.

I do watch The Edge of Night on YouTube.

Does that count?

by Anonymousreply 49March 14, 2022 6:02 PM

It's daytime watching and the show is The Price Is Right.

by Anonymousreply 50March 14, 2022 6:04 PM

I watch Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company, then Soap (between 8 and 10 on Tuesdays.)

by Anonymousreply 51March 15, 2022 12:37 PM

Police Woman and Rockford Files. Oh, Perry Mason too.

by Anonymousreply 52March 15, 2022 1:48 PM

Golden Girls, Blue Bloods, Matlock, and any Hallmark Romantic Movie starring Lacey Charbet

by Anonymousreply 53March 15, 2022 3:36 PM

HSN/QVC with that hot blonde host

by Anonymousreply 54March 15, 2022 3:50 PM

I’m in my 40s and watch Wheel

by Anonymousreply 55March 15, 2022 3:57 PM

I watch Warner Archive blurays with their dazzling Technicolor and youtube videos like B. Dylan Hollis who makes disgusting bizarre recipes from old cookbooks and Mr. Ballin who has to be one of the best storytellers I have ever come across. His true tales are often gruesome and horrifying and nothing seems to phase him. The man who went in for an operation with an anesthesiologist who didn't have a fucking clue was a doozy.

by Anonymousreply 56March 21, 2022 6:21 PM

My dad is in his mid-80s, lives in South Florida, and tells me all the old folks in his condo community LOVE Bluebloods!

by Anonymousreply 57March 21, 2022 6:45 PM

Sorry, the youtube storyteller is MrBallen.

by Anonymousreply 58March 21, 2022 6:58 PM

Don't old gays watch morning talk shows. And reruns of old classic series. And any series for gen z featuring hotties.

by Anonymousreply 59March 21, 2022 8:25 PM

Yeah, what is it with Bluebloods? Tom Selleck will be working (past his grave) until the viewer folks who are currently early 60s finally die of old age. Plenty of other CBS crimey procedural shows besides Bluebloods.

by Anonymousreply 60March 21, 2022 11:08 PM

[quote]Yeah, what is it with Blue Bloods?

I watch because I like Will Estes.

by Anonymousreply 61March 21, 2022 11:31 PM

I've never heard of Blue Bloods.

by Anonymousreply 62March 22, 2022 3:27 AM

Blue Bloods has some type of subliminal messaging that you can only hear if you are over 60. It hypnotizes old people.

by Anonymousreply 63March 23, 2022 4:31 AM

I haven't owned a televsion since 2009.

by Anonymousreply 64March 23, 2022 5:55 AM

I got sick Christmas Eve (thanks COVID), so I was stuck inside for about two weeks and decided to start watching Law & Order SVU.

I'm now on season 12.

by Anonymousreply 65March 23, 2022 8:45 AM

I love Blue Bloods.

by Anonymousreply 66March 23, 2022 9:33 AM

I see no mention of “60 Minutes,” which is the ne plus ultra of old people tv.

by Anonymousreply 67March 23, 2022 11:06 AM

I am under 50 and I can get behind some Wheel of Fortune. A few years ago Pat got sick and Vanna had to host the show for a week or so, but usually it is not that interesting.

by Anonymousreply 68March 23, 2022 11:20 AM

And Jag should have been a choice, if nobody already mentioned it.

by Anonymousreply 69March 23, 2022 11:21 AM

Wheel of Fortune for sure. Every senior I know sits down to watch that.

by Anonymousreply 70March 23, 2022 11:22 AM

I love Blue

by Anonymousreply 71March 23, 2022 11:29 AM

Who the fuck are the dumbasses on here who think "streaming" or "watching YT" is not the same as watching "TV?"
