r30 A youth minister is just an activities director. They are not "ministers" per se. It's just a title. They are usually men who are studying religion in college and aspire to be the head of a church.

There is also a weird southern thing of farming out children to others. I have a friend who was sent to live with a family friend. An unmarried, older, male family friend. He was kind of father with benefits. In all fairness, the man did send my friend to college and pretty much gave him a better life than he would have had had he remained at home, and there was no pass around to other men, but it really isn't a trade-off for sexual abuse.
