Another vote for West was best! The perfect camp that enhanced the role. The rest took themselves and their roles way too seriously.

If I have to choose from this group I would say Michael Keaton (although I don't enjoy him as an actor at all outside of this movie) and that is only because Prince did that amazing soundtrack.

As a side note, Keaton also had the best supporting cast of any of the Batman films to include standout performances by Kim Basinger and Jack Nicholson.

MY Batman is Michael Keaton (you never forget your first). However, I believe Robert Pattinson has been the best Batman, while Christian Bale was the best Bruce Wayne, and Keaton was the best all-around Batman.

Speaking of Adam West, it was interesting in that his characterization did the opposite of every other Batman. In that, his bruce wayne was more macho and reserved and dignified than when he was Batman. It was always the opposite, meaning bruce wayne was suppose to be a carefree somewhat stupid self absorbed playboy and batman serious, moody and dangerous. West did the opposite....

In regards to the 60's campy tv show, I always fantasize and imagine if they had cast instead of Adam West, what if they had someone like CLINT WALKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OR STEVE REEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... can any and all even fathom what those 2 would look like in that batman suit and those faces and eyes under the cowl! I liked the funny/campy Tim Burton Batmans, which reflected the tone of the 60s TV series.

With age-erasing CGI, why can't Keaton play him again? But please drop the dreary seriousness. It's a bat-man, for pete's sake.

I did not enjoy Heath Ledger in his role as Joker.

He is. Keaton is the official Batman for the DCEU with the first two films now cannon. He filmed “The Flash” and “Batgirl” so far. He’s signed on for like 16 films and is rumored to be getting his own live-action Batman HBO Max series. The first two films were very dark. However, they remembered that they were making a friggin comic book film - heightened reality. They were smart and ahead of their time. I hated the campy Schumacher films. Warner Bros was looking to sell toys.

R43 To me Keaton was my first but it was Batman Returns, and I feel like it was both campy and dark, like camp gothic. I happened to love the Schumacher films, especially the bat nipples. But, for me it was less about Batman in those films than Robin, I just loved Chris O'Donnell's Robin.

I think Adam West might have been the best Bruce Wayne. Bale was, for me, the best in the suit. I still feel like we haven't gotten the best Batman yet, they all seem a bit off in one way or another. But I can't think of a current actor I would prefer, either.

IMO, there hasn't been a good Batman live adaptation yet. BTAS managed to present an essential and timeless Batman. None of the movies achieved this so far.
