Amnesty International: Israel is oppressing and segregating Palestinian People

Why do mainstream media remain reticent about it?

And yet they get no sanctions and Russia gets cut off by the whole world. It's all "Russia Russia Russia!" on Rachel and most American media.

by Anonymousreply 1March 5, 2022 3:24 PM

To quote a few words from the report:

Palestinian citizens of Israel are denied a nationality, establishing a legal differentiation from Jewish Israelis. In the West Bank and Gaza, where Israel has controlled the population registry since 1967, Palestinians have no citizenship and most are considered stateless, requiring ID cards from the Israeli military to live and work in the territories.

Palestinian refugees and their descendants, who were displaced in the 1947-49 and 1967 conflicts, continue to be denied the right to return to their former places of residence. Israel’s exclusion of refugees is a flagrant violation of international law which has left millions in a perpetual limbo of forced displacement.

Palestinians in annexed East Jerusalem are granted permanent residence instead of citizenship – though this status is permanent in name only. Since 1967, more than 14,000 Palestinians have had their residency revoked at the discretion of the Ministry of the Interior, resulting in their forcible transfer outside the city.

And who pray tell owns/controls mainstream media?

by Anonymousreply 3March 5, 2022 3:35 PM

what saddens me most is that the victims, when empowered, could become perpetrators and oppress other people too. All power should be guarded.

by Anonymousreply 4March 5, 2022 3:41 PM

Imagine if the US had treated the white Cubans fleeing Castro the same way Israel has treated Palestinians.

In 1991, Kuwait expelled 250,000 "Palestinians", some of whom had lived there for generations. And not a peep out of Amnesty. Wonder why.

Oppressing "Palestinian" people? You mean like this?

What's with the scare quotes R6?

by Anonymousreply 10March 5, 2022 3:54 PM

R6, R9 = Meir Kahane

by Anonymousreply 11March 5, 2022 3:54 PM

For R10. And R11

In the 2nd century CE, the last attempt of the Jews to achieve independence from the Roman Empire ended with the well-known event of Masada, that is historically documented and universally recognized as the fact that determined the Jewish Diaspora in a definitive way. The Land where these things happened was until then the province known as Judæa, and there is no mention of any place called "Palestine" before that time. The Roman emperor Hadrian was utterly upset with the Jewish Nation and wanted to erase the name of Israel and Judah from the face of the Earth, so that there would be no memory of the country that belonged to that rebel people. He decided to replace the denomination of that Roman province and resorted to ancient history in order to find a name that might appear appropriate, and found that an extinct people that was unknown in Roman times, called "Philistines", was once dwelling in that area and were enemies of the Israelites. Therefore, according to Latin spelling, he invented the new name: "Palæstina", a name that would be also hateful for the Jews as it reminded them their old foes. He did so with the explicit purpose of effacing any trace of Jewish history. Ancient Romans, as well as modern Palestinians, have fulfilled the Hebrew Scriptures Prophecy that declares: "They lay crafty plans against Your People... they say: ‘come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more'." - Tehilim 83:3-4 (Psalm 83:3-4).

They failed, as Israel is alive and thrives.

by Anonymousreply 12March 5, 2022 3:58 PM

I have combed through some news on the issue. Funny that it has received much more discussions in Europe than in US.

by Anonymousreply 13March 5, 2022 4:00 PM

[QUOTE] They failed, as Israel is alive and thrives.

Well yeah it's still there, if you like places where the people are ethnocentric and full of hate. And its expensive and you get very little value for your money there. Have you seen the food prices in Tel Aviv?

by Anonymousreply 14March 5, 2022 4:01 PM

That's a good point R14. It is expensive and at the same time not a good place to live. The main ones who go to live there are from places much worse -- Sudan, old Soviet Bloc countries, and a few people from the ghettos of France.

The few American and UK Jews who do move there usually get fed up with the place after a few years and move back to where they came from, very disillusioned with the experience.

by Anonymousreply 15March 5, 2022 4:12 PM

R14 R15 Another of DL's legion of lunatic Jew haters talking to herself.

Rupert Murdoch isn't Jewish, he's Scottish, you antisemitic cunt.

by Anonymousreply 17March 5, 2022 4:20 PM

R17 I don't think that poster was referring to Murdoch.

by Anonymousreply 18March 5, 2022 4:21 PM

Fuck the murderous "Palestinians" AKA Jordanians. Palestinians were offered a great deal by the British but no, they threw it away to try and kill Jews.

And guess what - Jews won. Palestinians AKA Jordanians have a whole Hashemite Kingdom to fuck up - they comprise half of Jordan , the true Palestinian state.

by Anonymousreply 19March 5, 2022 4:22 PM

Oh those peace living Palestinians AKA Jordanians

by Anonymousreply 20March 5, 2022 4:26 PM

[quote]Fuck the murderous "Palestinians" AKA Jordanians.

Actually it's a bit more complicated than that. "Palestinians" are actually everything from Lebanese to Armenians to Circassians, Egyptians, Jordanians, Kuwaitis, and Syrians. They didn't become "Palestinians" until 1967, as a political weapon to bash those fucking Jews with. Of course, if the Brits hadn't gifted half of mandated Palestine to the Hashemi clan as a reward for helping them kick the Ottomans out of the Hijaz in 1922, the area would look very different today.

It also might help to remember that Israel took in over a milliion Jews expelled in 1948 from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen. Yet none of those countries reciprocated by absorbing their brethren. And nothing's changed. See millions of Muslims invading Europe for examples.

by Anonymousreply 21March 5, 2022 4:34 PM

Addendum R21 . . . and Yemen and Libya.

by Anonymousreply 22March 5, 2022 4:35 PM

[quote][R17] I don't think that poster was referring to Murdoch.

But Rupert Murdoch DOES own and control the media. R3 clearly thinks it's "the Jews" who control and own the media, but Rupert Murdoch isn't Jewish.

Anyway, the reason the Amnesty report hasn't been reported on widely is because Amnesty is a massively discredited organisation who published a massively discredited report.

The Israel / Palestine conflict is very complicated and Israel will always be held to a different standard to other countries.

It's always strange how people claim to be passionate about the plight of Palestinians/Muslims, but only when it's Israel/Jews who are seen to be the oppressors. Palestinians being killed in Lebanon, Syria or Egypt? Palestinians deprived of basic human rights by Hamas? Sorry I can't hear you?

This thread reeks of the stench of virulent antisemitism. F&F.

by Anonymousreply 24March 5, 2022 5:04 PM

[quote] But Rupert Murdoch DOES own and control the media.

Owning Fox News and the NY Post is hardly owning the media. lol.

by Anonymousreply 25March 5, 2022 5:07 PM

Whatever many are trying to argue in order to put Israel-Palestine in a different light, there is no denying that Israel has oppressed Palestinians with institutionalized discrimination.

by Anonymousreply 26March 5, 2022 6:16 PM

Israel is in the right. The media is trying to sway evetyone.

by Anonymousreply 27March 5, 2022 7:29 PM

OP It's very widely reported upon outside of the US, your media sucks.

by Anonymousreply 28March 5, 2022 7:51 PM

Palestinian men are the hottest in the world.

by Anonymousreply 29March 5, 2022 8:49 PM

reticent? the media covers this situation constantly. The Palestinians had their chance in the 1970s when the European Left rallied around their cause as an example of decolonization, but then fractured leadership and corruption squandered this potential in favor of aligning themselves with radical Islam.

by Anonymousreply 30March 5, 2022 8:52 PM

Absolute bullshit to accuse anyone of antisemitism just for calling out Israel's war crimes and apartheid state.

by Anonymousreply 31March 5, 2022 8:59 PM

Zionists use accusations of “anti-Semitism” to silence criticism.

by Anonymousreply 32March 5, 2022 9:03 PM

[QUOTE] Israel is in the right. The media is trying to sway evetyone.

by Anonymousreply 33March 5, 2022 10:14 PM

Because they know Amnesty International is taking advantage of world events to get a little attention, OP. You musn't deify all that you see, hear, or read.

by Anonymousreply 34March 5, 2022 10:42 PM

[quote]Zionists use accusations of “anti-Semitism” to silence criticism.

People who use the term "Zionists" to describe people who think Israel has a right to exist are general virulent antisemites.

by Anonymousreply 35March 6, 2022 8:23 AM

R35 They really, really, no REALLY want to say J E W, but that would expose them as the Jew-hating turds they are. So they use "zionist", believing that they are fooling everyone as to their actual target, intent and purpose.

by Anonymousreply 36March 6, 2022 8:33 AM

Bullshit. I’ve met Palestinians with full Israeli citizenship who are studying in Europe.

by Anonymousreply 37March 6, 2022 8:59 AM

R37 They are not called "Palestinians". They are called "Israeli Arabs" or "Arab Israelis".

by Anonymousreply 38March 6, 2022 9:02 AM

The Palestinians danced in the streets on 9/11. I don't care about them or Israel.

by Anonymousreply 39March 6, 2022 9:04 AM

war crimes! sanctions on Israel

by Anonymousreply 40March 6, 2022 2:58 PM

No “palasntn” should have citizenship or voting rights in Israel. Otherwise the Jewish state will in a generation or two become a Palestinian state and the outnumbered and out voted Jews will be shown the door or treated worse than the ethnic Jordanians who call themselves “Palestinians” ever were. Now civil rights, that’s another matter entirely. They should be treated with humanity, but frankly, give them 28 days to pack up and leave.
