Jack Cassidy Classic Killer on "Columbo"

Jack Cassidy would be 95 today. Instead, he died at 49 in '76 from a fire caused by his lit cigarette. Jack appeared three times as a "Columbo" villain and one of the most memorable, IMO. Cassidy's trio of urbane and irritated killers make a great counterpoint to Peter Falk's rumpled and rambling, but wily, detective. My look at Jack's classic "Columbo" episodes here:

I’ll put it on my list, OP. Thanks.

Is he the one with the massive meat?

Jack's first appearance, in "Murder by the Book," was directed by Steven Spielberg. Here's an excellent copy:

Jack's second appearance is in "Publish or Perish," with guest victim Mickey Spillane! You can watch it free on IMDB...

Have I mentioned that all the Cassidy men were hung like bulls?

And Jack's finale on "Columbo" was ironically titled "Now You See Him," as he died later that year... You can watch this episode free on IMDB...

Jack Cassidy was hot as hell on Bewitched with facial hair.

I also adore the episode with Janet Leigh. And did y'all bitches know Anne Baxter was in an episode, too? And Sal Mineo??!

He was a great killer. His second victim in the first episode was played by Barbara Colby, who was shot dead not very long after she worked on the series.

This thread may inspire me to rewatch the series. I have it on DVD!

Apparently, Jack was very bitter and envious of David's Patridge fame.

The Cassidy's were cute goodlooking men, hung like a stable of horses and knew how to work it. Jack Cassidy was memorable in so many roles and guest appearances, he comedically played Ted's competitive brother on the Mary Tyler Moore show. With or without facial hair, Jack was hot and sexy, I always thought so since I was 10yo gayling in 1974, all the women in my family thought he was something back in the day, and I did too! ;-)

Jack had an affair with Cole Porter. Shirley forgave him because, I mean, Cole Porter!

Jack played Superman on Broadway. He was the original choice to play Ted Baxter on The MTM Show, but turned it down... so then when it was a hit he did an episode or two as Ted Baxter's brother.

You know he had to be a freak in the sack because Shirley Jones was (still is?) and her second husband Marty Ingel was.
