Still one of the spookiest films in history - I think I'll watch it tonight, haven't seen it in ages.

What's sadder is how the openly gay director F.W. Murnau died in a car crash a little after releasing the equally brilliant Sunrise.

r1, I think he was getting road head from his underage male assistant (not even kidding!) Saw this movie on VHS in 3rd grade about 1990, and it gave me nightmares for *years* afterwards. This, the original Night of the Living Dead, and The Exorcist all fucked me up, but GOOD. Today's "scary" movies can't hold a candle to the classics.

That spooky part near the end where he's walking up the stairs in the dark and there's a shadow of his claws is something I remember from my childhood. I think I got up one night after I was supposed to be in bed and that scene was on in the livingroom. I thought it was sooo scary.
