Evan Rachel Wood to play Madonna in ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’

I can't remember seeing Daniel Radcliffe in anything but the boy Wizard films. It will be interesting to see if he can actually act.

Radcliffe can act and has been in 1000 movies since Potter. Someone doesn't watch too many movies.

Bumping this old thread because the trailer is out. Al apparently has a torrid affair with Madonna in this movie.

I think they had everyone stand on boxes around Radcliffe to make him look even shorter than he is. The real Al Yankovic is about 6 feet tall.

She makes a great 80s Madonna.

I saw this at TIFF and Evan was okay. She did a good imitation of Madonna during that period but, like the film, it's very one-note and just tries to go for clever gags. But I was hoping there would be a bit more of an edge to the film and her performance.

Evan Rachel Wood is a fascinating performer. A bit like Kirsten Dunst. She has a lot of layers beneath what she shows in her surface performance. Pretty hard to be someone the whole public knows so well though. Madonna is, in theory, still alive. You can't play Madonna wrong - she's not really a person.

Radcliffe is one of our great wonders. If he were more conventional looking (taller) he would be known as one of our best and most adventurous actors.

Can't wait to see this. I hate Madonna and don't know much about weird Al. It should be fun.

R19. The film is a biopic parody.

Weird Al and Madonna are friends. She did give him the idea for “Like A Surgeon”. They did not have an affair. This film is supposed to be high parody of biopics with some truth thrown in.

Evan Rachel Wood is 35 years old. Madonna must be pissed.

R23 Like she looks 35. Madonna was 27 in 1985 so not that much of an age difference.

She’s a good Madonna. Very pretty and charismatic.

The movie looks really funny and over the top (on purpose). REW is perfection as Madonna. She’s also a huge Madonna fan.
