Drag Queens, how do you buy makeup and clothes for your drag?

I want to be experimental, but I cannot exactly waltz into Macy's women department and try on that pretty new dress. I mean size is very tricky, how do you know to shop for them? Also, what blush and sponge will give a natural English rose look?

Don't some drag queens shop at thrift stores?

"Blush and Sponge" would be a good name for a drag boutique, BTW.

When it comes to drag queens, I’m reminded of Sutherland, in “Dancer from the Dance,” going through dresses in a thrift store, and muttering, “They never have anything in my size, and I refuse to tell them it’s for a friend.”

Jackie Beat says people send her stuff free, like make-up.

Order online, OP.

Find a retailer that provides measurements for the finished garment, take your own measurements and then order accordingly. If you are not white sure about how tight or loose you prefer to wear clothes in that style or for that item (prefer loose shirts and tight jackets, etc) then order the size up or down at the same time and try them on at home. Women's clothing is notorious for having bad uniformity of sizes, so don't get too attached to the number but use it as a rough guide for future searches.

For makeup, find an actress with similar hair color and skin tone and Google up various pictures of her, then focus on what colors of lipstick, blush, and eye makeup she is wearing. They will probably work on you as well. Just take into account that she is probably wearing a lot more or more dramatic shades and with the added effect of professional lighting.

Then buy (online) a booklet of makeup that combines many of those shades in one palette. Use the booklet to play around and see what you like, what works.

Should be if you are not *quite sure. I fucking hate spell check and my own fat fingers.
