And he’s very vocal about how awful a film he found it to be.
To be fair I thought it was overrated, but not as overrated as Sam Elliott is as an actor.

To me, Sam Elliott will always be the very sexy and hairy lifeguard. Yum.

He is right.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 1, 2022 7:54 AM |
He's just pissed he didn't get the role. Too old.

My dad looked EXACTLY like him, and he passed young in his 50s a few years back, so every time I see a picture of Sam, I think of my dad
People also say I look exactly like my dad without the moustache
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 1, 2022 8:05 AM |
I liked it but there wasn’t much too it.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 1, 2022 8:23 AM |
People can be surprisingly kind, can't they r4?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 1, 2022 8:25 AM |
I reckon Sam Elliott is more familiar with 'real Westerners' rather than those epicene, pseudo-intellectual, effeminate, New Zealand fake Westerners.

Rumor has it that Sam Elliott's hair turned white overnight after he watched Brokeback Mountain.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 1, 2022 9:00 AM |
Samantha Ellie needs to just come out already.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 1, 2022 9:17 AM |
R6 I’m being serious, I hear it constantly , in fact when I had a Facebook page and posted a profile picture , people were commenting of “you’re honoring your dad”, “that’s a good picture of your dad, but I don’t remember him without his moustache ” etc
The picture was me
Funny thing is , I never thought Sam Elliott was attractive maybe because he looked and even had the same build as my dad, so it would have been too weird and freaky for me to think that

R9 Heard Tony Curtis raptured a haemorrhoid with an oversized dildo whilst watching Brokeback Mountain which is the real reason he hated the film.

R4 post some photos, we will let you know whether they are telling you the truth!
PS nude photos are welcome! 😃

He succeeded Robert Mitchum as the spokesman for the American Beef Council, because of course he did.

I like Sam Elliott but apparently he didn’t understand the film. Cumberbatch’s character comes from a well-off, well-placed political family, is highly educated and is “cos-playing” as a cowboy. That’s why he’s overdressed and in chaps for so many scenes. Sam seems to have missed that.
To his credit though, he didn’t like House of Gucci either.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 1, 2022 9:47 AM |
Sam Elliot? Yes! Just stand there and be sexy, and naked!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 1, 2022 9:52 AM |
R15 his point is the other cowboys were dressed the same. They were.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 1, 2022 10:20 AM |
The movie is overrated
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 1, 2022 4:02 PM |
Sam seems a little gay-panicky.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 1, 2022 4:37 PM |
He should've just called it a boring, heavy handed piece of shit and left it at that. Then he would've been 100% correct.
Everything with the Kirsten Dunst character was so fucking stupid and unintentionally funny.

Sam Elliott is not coming off very well here. He will likely regret giving that interview.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 1, 2022 7:48 PM |
Three threads on the same topic in a matter of hours. Who knew Sam Elliott would rate such attention on DL?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 1, 2022 7:50 PM |
He’s not wrong though r22
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 1, 2022 7:51 PM |
I love that Campion declined to comment. She has no time for this.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 1, 2022 7:56 PM |
Someone needs to tell him that Steven Spielberg, who directed the West Side Story remake, is from Arizona.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 1, 2022 7:56 PM |
He is R24. The Power of The Dog is based on book by Thomas Savage, that was published in 1967 and is informed by his own experiences; it inspired Annie Proulx to write Brokeback Mountain. Even Elliott's comment about how ranches are run by multi-generational families ignores the fact that's what is actually depicted in the film.
He sounds ill-informed and surprisingly homo-hysteric.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 1, 2022 8:01 PM |
I forgot he was in it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 1, 2022 8:23 PM |
I didn’t like the movie either, but then I don’t like Jane Campion. I enjoy Cumberbatch’s work but he’s too much of a bodhisattva to convincingly inhabit a psychopath like Phil.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 1, 2022 8:37 PM |
R22 Are you making a threat?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 1, 2022 9:05 PM |
FROGS (1972) is more entertaining than DOG. Tedious.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 1, 2022 9:26 PM |
I wonder if he is bitter over a western directed by a woman getting all this Oscar attention.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 1, 2022 10:39 PM |
And an ass-kisser fan.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 1, 2022 10:46 PM |
Had this been made several years ago and Sam Elliott played Cumberbatch's character I would have liked the movie a lot better.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 1, 2022 10:48 PM |
^ sorry, meant to respond to R3
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 1, 2022 10:49 PM |
Wonder how long it’s been since he’s seen Montgomery Clift and John Ireland in Red River.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 1, 2022 10:53 PM |
Sam Elliott seems to have liked "Brokeback Mountain."

I don't know her.

Was SE drunk during this interview??
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 1, 2022 11:26 PM |
Poor old guy was probably trying to sound cool and unfiltered, but stepped in shit. I don’t hate him, but feel bad because he marginalized himself.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 1, 2022 11:43 PM |
You don't hate him, R41, but you feel sorry for him.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 1, 2022 11:57 PM |
He’s doing just fine.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 1, 2022 11:59 PM |
Sam Elliott is 100x sexier than Cumberbatch, I would love to watch Sam naked in that bathing scene!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 4, 2022 12:19 PM |
You always watch Lifeguard.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 4, 2022 12:20 PM |
30 years ago would have been a good time for hime to make 'The Chad Douglas Story". I could have performed all the sex scenes himself.
