^^^imdb doesn’t say anything about them being related. But both have Scottish ancestry so they may be from the same clan.

The SNP is too mainstream for him so he's joined new party Alba set up by former First Minister Alex Salmond, who bullied and harassed female staff so badly as First Minister women weren't allowed to work on their own in government premises when he was around. The same Alex Salmond who until last week had a show on Putin propaganda "news" channel Russia Today.

He wrote and produced a film about Robert The Bruce in which he starred again. One of the cinema chains decided not to show it for commercial reasons. i.e. they could make a lot more money from putting Toy Story 4 on another screen, so rabid Scottish nationalists threatened a boycott of the cinema chain.
