I hope she pulls through. God help Charles and Camilla if she dies, because they’ll be seen as responsible.
I think she’ll be ok, but if she isn’t, there’s a 100% chance Charles would step aside so William becomes King.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 20, 2022 10:54 AM |
God save the Queen.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 20, 2022 10:55 AM |
They'll do everything to keep her alive which they shouldn't do with a person that age.

NO! He's been waiting for this his whole life

Now Charles will be responsible for his mother’s death. Well done, Dumbo-ears!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 20, 2022 10:56 AM |
Did she get it from one of the great grand kids? Can we blame Charlotte as part of the bloodbath she’s unleashing on her way to the throne?

Why did they only announce today?
It is not takes 2days to get infected.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 20, 2022 11:02 AM |
OP Dont go all dramatic yet. They take very good care of her. As long as the thing doesn't turn to pneumonia she should be all right for awhile yet.

Charles got the public commitment that Big Liz wants his side piece called Queen, and then took her out.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 20, 2022 11:07 AM |
The DM will try to sidestep blaming Charles by accusing Meghan and Harry of draining the Queen’s will to live.

We're headed to England for the reading of the will!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 20, 2022 11:28 AM |
She got AIDS by fucking a Bear King?
What is a Bear King? Is that like a title you win at a bear night at a gay bar by showing off your hairy belly and ass while parading around in assless chaps?
Or is it like one of those Midsommar things where some dude from the village wears a bear skin and then gets decapitated when it's hibernation season?
Also, aren't her bones really brittle now? Seems like a good fuck would be a bad idea? Is there some special medical harness that she has to lie in to protect her royal bones?
Does Boniva have a Royal Warrant?
Maybe she's hopped up on Boniva and GHB.

by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 20, 2022 11:48 AM |
lol, r11 and r47
the Charlotte as conniving child usurper makes me chuckle.
And speaking of Chuckle, I think he dreads his mother's death. He's used to waiting and he knows Q E II set a standard for popularity he can't match. And he's no spring chicken himself. When most people are retiring from work, he'll be taking on new duties.
In a way, I think he'll have it much harder than Q E II.

I agree.
Charles has actually had it very easy.
His mother did all the heavy lifting, for his entire life. Over 70 years!!
Why would he want that to end?
He has all the perks of being first in line for the throne, without any of the responsibility of the reigning monarch.
If anything, he should be working hard to keep his mother healthy.
Besides, it's Charlotte that everyone has to worry about.

^ That's not a genetic factor, though; her mother was almost 102, and the 'flu and pneumonia are the old woman's friends as well as the old man's.

Queen Margarethe of Denmark, a lifelong heavy smoker, got it and cleared it, although she's about a dozen years younger and I guess when you're eighty and ninety every year does count, medically. Still, you know they're giving her whatever medication they can give her. The Times says cases are circulating within Windsor, which could be true or could be the line put out to avoid the "you killed Mama" meme.
The good news is that assuming she recovers, which seems more likely than not, she's about as bulletproof as you can get for the Jubilee.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 20, 2022 12:23 PM |
R49 - It's just that she seemed to show such a lively persona at such a young age. She looked a bit in the mold of her Take No Prisoners Don't Fuck With Me Great Aunt Anne.

This stopping drinking thing can't be because of alcohol's internal bodily effects on Q E II.
At her age, what's the point?
I'll bet she's told not to drink because of balance and fear of a tipsy.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 20, 2022 12:38 PM |

They seem to be trying to distance the Queen's covid from Charles as much as they can. They sent him out as healthy a few days ago. Very soon. And now they announce she tested positive. I bet she tested positive a few days ago.

by Anonymous | reply 109 | February 20, 2022 2:45 PM |
R109/R1, I think he's in the wrong thread. I'm the one who, in the other thread (linked) at R5, wrote,
You find it amusing that a 95-year-old great-grandmother has Covid, [R1]?
That was in response to R1 in that thread, who had written,
Cry, Klan Grannies, cry!
Beyond that, I'm not quite sure how it's "telling", as R106 says, that I referred to the Queen's being a 95-year-old great-grandmother. My implicit point - and I think this would be clear to most - was that she is a human being, frail and vulnerable to this illness and also beloved by several generations of her family. Yes, she is a head of state, but she is also a human being.. Again, I'm not sure what's meant to be "telling" about adverting to that fact.

R114, I still don't know how it's "telling". Is your point that the KGT is right and that the prospect of her dying is something to be celebrated because she has led a comfortable life? It is a long-established precedent that respect is shown to the dead and, by extension, to those who are near death. That is a custom which has long been observed, though there are exceptions.

People like R129, crack me up. I actually like an admire Queen Elizabeth II, but she’s not some sacred God for whom mockery is forbidden.
Prior to 9/11, Esquire magazine would publish an annual issue called “The Dubious Honors of 19__.” Some of the best, most scathing comments were reserved for Princess Diana, Mother Theresa, JFK Jr, and Richard Nixon upon their respective deaths. DL itself has a long, storied tradition of making inappropriate comments about tragic events, which is why the World Trade Center came to be known as an insatiable bottom.
Take that faux outrage and shove it up Betty White’s decaying ass.

R126, I enjoy a "MADONNA: SAD LAST DAYS" thread as much as the next DLer but that's not what this is: we are talking about a very frail, fairly blameless old lady who has had prominence thrust upon her rather than seeking it out. I see no reason to celebrate her death or ill-health in a [italic]gratuitous [/italic] manner and if that makes me a boundaries-stating mincing prisspot, so be it.
"Cry, Klan Grannies, cry!" in no way possesses the wit or wisdom that justifies such commentary on DL; it's just plain nasty. Saying that the Queen's "light duties" include fighting an oil rig fire in the Gulf of Mexico - that I find funny. Basically saying "Racist old cunt will die soon haha" does NOT have the DL hallmark of wit or incisive comment.

I have zero sympathy for the old broad, she’s led one of the richest lives imaginable, in a multitude of ways, had her pick of strapping men, the company of brilliant artists and world rulers and good health into her great old age, and lived to see her enemies humbled before her. People on here going into frenzies that anyone dare made an off-color joke about a literal Queen should see themselves out.

R143, it's presumably just another DLer who thinks that gay men and straight women are alike because they both like men. Because if the average DLer were Queen for a day, the first thing he'd do is line up all the footmen and then position himself - face down, ass up - on the four-poster bed, and then command them all to take turns on him on pain of death. (I include myself in this, lol.)
Straight women don't think like that. True. The Queen is said to have liked sex but straight people's definition of "liking sex" may have been different in the late 40s.

Phil may have been born in Greece (Corfu) but he doesn't have a drop of Greek blood in him. Neither did his father or grandfather. Phil the Dane, Phile the Kraut . . . er . . German. Phil the Danish German or German Dane is far more accurate.

R166 - That horse is in the next county, mate.
If she hasn't done it by now, given the Reaper is standing behind her left shoulder, she isn't going to.
I suspect this is down to several considerations: first, no matter what Harry does, Charles doesn't want his offspring de-royalised, this is ingrained family class loyalty. Second, the Queen knows the screams of racism would rise and figures it's better to let the kids have it, as they're irrelevant, than to arouse the Racist Windsors accusation again. Third, if by some chance the Queen and Charles are fatuously entertaining themselves with dreams of really reincorporating the Sussexes into the family fold, they know they'll have no chance of doing so if she take those titles and HRHs, because Harry will say Fuck You permanently.
Of course, he'll go on saying it, anyway, but they don't seem to care.
Only William would put up a fight here, and William, though increasingly influential, isn't in charge.
Only if the Queen had given up hope entirely of bringing Harry and his kids back in would she have issued those LPs.
I don't say she's at death's door today. But she's bloody close enough to know that anything she feels she needs to do (such as, for instance, row back on the Princess Consort title for Camilla so the public don't go into shock on Coronation Day), she should have already done or do before she hits the sack tonight.
She ain't doing it. Those LPs aren't going out. Archie and Lily are going to be HRHs.

So Princess Anne will have to curtsy to Queen Camilla? Can you imagine?
by Anonymous | reply 173 | February 21, 2022 8:18 PM |
I agree, R171, particularly for the race consideration.
The royals know they're in for a rough ride with the British media once the Queen, who is possibly the most admired person in the world, dies. Until now the institution itself has been more or less untouchable, however much individual members may have come in for scorn or unpopularity. Yes, you may think that the Andrew scandal and Charles' honours issue are bad but, compared to what the media will do when the Queen is dead, they're nothing. The anti-monarchy campaign group Republic have as good as said that they are keeping their powder dry while the Queen is alive, and it's no exaggeration to describe outlets like the Guardian, the Observer and (in a covert way) the BBC, as Republic's men in Fleet Street. When Elizabeth dies is when the knives will come out for the monarchy itself.
Allowing the media to celebrate the first HRHs of colour/the first Prince and Princess of colour is a small sop that the Windsors will be quite happy to throw to their enemies in the press. The fact that Merchie and Lilibucks are at least 75% white - probably closer to 85%, realistically, looking at Doria - and the fact that they're irrelevant, as you say, means that no feathers will be ruffled on the other end of the political spectrum. Not necessarily the most savoury consideration but that's how it is.
R172, letters patent.

Let the two tossers have the Prince/Princess titles for their spawn. By trying to cash in on these titles via merching (and we all know they will do so), they will make themselves even more despicable than they already do.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | February 21, 2022 9:36 PM |
Having two California-raised kids (one born there) swanning around using HRH Prince/Princess will be even more absurd than Bea and Eug using it. Maybe Archie and Lillie will have better sense, but I doubt it. The Sussexes already look absurd, though, so it's really a non-issue. The Crown won't let them merch Prince/Princess anything--if the Sussexes try, it will be the Sussex Royal debacle all over again.
I'm betting that they'll be the last two to automatically get HRH Prince/Princess just because they are male-line grandchildren. If the rules don't change under Charles, they definitely will under William.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | February 21, 2022 10:15 PM |
R177 You're probably right that they'll be the same last of HRHs so far down the line.
My prediction is that Meghan and Harry will proclaim how little this means to them and how they don't plan to use the HRHs.
But the fsct is, that's how they'll be listed on the royal web site.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | February 21, 2022 11:57 PM |
I hope for the California kids that growing up in the US inoculates them against the absurdity of believing in royal blood, and they end up rebelling against whatever titles they have.

It's a joke to have the offspring of two people who have left the royal family, swore off their previous royal duties and fled the country to be bestowed the title of prince as a benefit of the Queen dying. If it becomes that meaningless, it's going to hurt the monarchy. Charles needs to have her stop that from happening. The Queen can absorb any negative impact from doing it.

by Anonymous | reply 189 | February 22, 2022 9:15 AM |
R179 - That's the most amusing post up. Their father is busily suing the UK government as he tries to get the UK taxpayer to pay for round the clock police protection based on his position in the line of succession - despite the fact that he lives in America, doesn't work for the monarchy and never will again, and three of his four family members are American citizens, and the kids' mother splashes her title around at every possible opportunity.
If there is one thing you can put your life savings on, it's that the Sussexes are going to keep reminding the world Who We Are! And if you think they aren't going to constantly remind their children Who You Are! you are living in Cloud Cuckoo-Land.
Their royalty is all Meghan and Harry have to market themselves with.
When Harry files for American citizenship and voluntarily surrenders all his titles, let me know.
But so far, he's signed his daughter's birth certificate as His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex (despite the fact that neither of those are actually his NAME), and is claiming royal privileges in the UK before his royal blood begins looking too thin to market successfully.
I'd keep my money in pocket if I were you.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | February 22, 2022 1:30 PM |
It’s been pointed out that Harry wants to keep a UK address, not so that can be close to his grandmother or family, or because of any great love for his country, but because he needs it to remain a Counsellor of State. The Sussexes are trying to hang on to every connection they have left, to maintain the perception they are still actively connected with royalty, since that’s worth more on the market that any extinguished connections.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | February 22, 2022 1:45 PM |
Anyone supposing Charles is going to revoke the Sussex title, or to start his reign off by issuing LPs depriving the Sussex kids of the HRHs they are entitled to under the current Act of Succession, is also living in Cloud Cuckoo-Land. The Queen isn't going to do it or she'd have done it by now, and Charles isn't going to.
The truth is, their class loyalty is deeper than their loyalty to the Great Unwashed.
And that's the rot in the system. One can make arguments for and against constitutional monarchies (and do remember that Europe alone is home to eight such, not to mention Japan and the Middle East), and this is one of the arguments against.
It should be noted that both Sweden and Denmark, reading the handwriting on the wall of the 21st century, have taken pains to assure their taxpaying public that only those in the direct line of succession will receive state-funded support; that only those will represent the monarchy and the State; and that titles will reflect those positions.
Although the Danish monarchy has not been seeing the restiveness that the Swedish monarchy has, two years ago the Danish Parliament announced that ONLY the heir to the throne and his family could expect to receive the "appenage", or annual state funding. This means that only Crown Prince Frederik is receiving such funding, his younger brother and his family do not, although they continue to work dutifully for the monarchy at a less visible and less frequent level.
It also means that when Frederik's children reach their majority, ONLY his son and heir, Prince Christian, as a future King, will receive that appenage, but Frederik's other three children will have to make their way in the world without it. When the announcement was made by the government, the monarchy stated that, of course, it had never supposed otherwise.
Frederik's younger brother is an HRH. But the younger brother's four children are ONLY HHs, His Highness, Her Highness, but not Royal Highnesses. The younger brother's grandchildren will like have either minor aristocratic or no titles.
That the British monarchy refuses to see why it is now necessary to do this is beyond comprehension.
Andrew is still living in a 31-bedroom Crown Estate property with a divorced wife riding on his coattails. Had the Queen reigned Andrew in15 years ago and the ties to Epstein been cut, the order of succession wouldn't have become such a dicey matter, because removing Harry wouldn't then leave Andrew one place farther up the food chain.
The failure to take action more decisively years earlier, to remove Harry's ducal title because it was based on the assumption that he and his wife would work for the monarchy for the rest of their lives, the failure to reign Andrew in . . .
All these mistakes will slowly accrue until suddenly the cracks widen under their weight.
Charles needs to read the room better than the Queen did; he needs to take a leaf out of Denmark's playbook; he needs to put his responsibility to the public and the monarchy before his personal feelings.
But he won't. On that, I would put my hard-earned.
The best thing that could happen to the monarchy is that Charles should suddenly die of a stroke or something before the Queen does.
William will see to the rest.

If it makes Meghan feel better to refer to her children as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet--and it will--okay, but it won't mean anything to anybody in royal circles. These children are American and will have no real ties or emotional connections to the BRF or the British aristocracy. Hopefully they'll make real friends in California and create stable lives for themselves, but with those parents it will be difficult.
Prince and Princess in this case are meaningless titles and not even merchable under current BRF rules. There won't be photo ops with Grandpa Charles or Uncle William, there won't be balcony appearances or shots of Archie and Lili playing with George, Charlotte, and Louis, and that's what makes you seem royal to the world.
Meghan and Harry would look much better if they eschewed the titles for their kids, but that's unlikely.

by Anonymous | reply 206 | February 23, 2022 6:16 AM |
R203, I'm a big fan of the Queen but, on the whole, I agree with you.
R205, the very short list of things for which the Queen is actually needed in her constitutional role, like royal assent and presiding at the Privy council, can be done by Charles. As disconnected as they may seem from the reality of the Queen's frailty and mortality, I am sure that, as you said yourself, arrangements have been made.
Of course, there are lots of other things that the Queen chooses to do - meeting people, reading her despatch boxes even though she can't affect the actual political outcome of the matters discussed therein - but these are not so much constitutional duties as self-imposed "moral" duties. The government can cope perfectly will without her in that regard.
I'm laughing right now because all this reminds me of someone who thought that the Queen was the functioning executive of the United Kingdom: Sarah Palin, who once aspired to be one heartbeat away from the position of US Commander-in-Chief. Frightening!

I'm especially sad about how she is now because she had totally *bloomed* after the DoE died. I mean, animated, smiling, running around at the horse races, riding, driving....then out of nowhere it was announced (which I thought odd) that she was going off the sauce.
I remember thinking OH NO! She's been doing fine for 94 plus years just as she was. Do NOT fuck with her pleasures or her schedule, because in my experience that's when it all goes to shit. Well, look at her now, COVID aside. She went downhill a week within that announcement. I'm sure it was well intentioned, but some people you can't put in a virtual hamster ball to protect them, and she is a perfect example. Now, NO tipple, NO riding, NO long walks, NO driving, and it's fucking sad. Fuck Charles or whoever gave this to her, but she was fading well before it. Also, not to sound tacky but HM always had quite the set of tits and to see her diminished frame and disappearing bosom, it's depressing as hell to witness.

Is she still dead?
by Anonymous | reply 229 | February 26, 2022 11:36 PM |
Keeping her off the sauce was the most stupid advice ever.
by Anonymous | reply 230 | February 27, 2022 12:01 PM |
Another bow-out with a ridiculous explanation. Obviously the Queen is quite ill.
by Anonymous | reply 231 | February 27, 2022 10:01 PM |
R231 you’re quoting People magazine? Really?
The decision was based on it probably considered somewhat insensitive to hold a white tie and tiara diplomatic event at Windsor in the same week that the UK’s European neighbour is having the shit kicked out of it by Russia.
Yes, HM is old and yes, she’s been diagnosed with COVID-19, but you Queen’s funeral obsessives need to get a grip and stop reading the tea leaves. Sometimes a delay is just a delay.

The Maul reporting tonight she met the Cambridges and Princess Beatrice at Win dsor yesterday. She's well again.

Hopefully discussing what to do with the traitor, Princess Eugenie.

Death bed vigil.
by Anonymous | reply 238 | March 1, 2022 2:08 AM |
R238 The woman on the death-bed vigil has recovered and drove herself yesterday from the castle to Frogmore to hang with Bea and her baby and all five Cambridges.
Interestingly, no mention of Euge and Jack. Apparently "not at home" was the tactful phrase used in the DM yesterday.
One cannot but wonder if family lines are bring drawn up, with placid, seemingly dull Bea turning out to be sharper than one supposed.

Bea and Eugenie will not be blamed for their disgraced scumbag of a father. They are still princesses and I believe they are well liked despite being spoiled because what member of the Royal Family isn't? It comes with the position. I see them taking on some of the roles as young representatives of a rapidly aging monarchy.

She has a resumed virtual audiences... photo from today.

Ladies and gentlemen, the York girls are nice and will be getting royal duties soon troll returns.
They are toxic by association. A reminder of their father every time they show their faces.

R242 everybody looks like shit on Zoom calls, especially soon-to-be 96 year olds just recovering from Covid.
She needs a light ring.
But while we’re here, R242 - how about posting a screen shot of how you look on Zoom or Teams? I’m sure you look absolutely delightful, right?
by Anonymous | reply 244 | March 1, 2022 7:52 PM |
I'm worried 😟 about Long Covid with the Queen. I mean problems could show up for her ten or twenty years down the road!
by Anonymous | reply 245 | March 1, 2022 9:42 PM |
She's tough, R245. I'd bet big money in ten or twenty years she won't even feel it.
by Anonymous | reply 246 | March 1, 2022 9:44 PM |
In 2043, the Queen will be telling her great-great-grandchildren about how she lived through the Great Pandemic of the 2020s...
by Anonymous | reply 247 | March 1, 2022 9:53 PM |
If the Queen can do some of her government work through Zoom, they should just set up an AI image to do it, like Max Headroom.
by Anonymous | reply 248 | March 1, 2022 10:27 PM |
Ah, glad to see she's feeling better. Finally some good news in this world. Maybe she'll make one of her sweet, grandmotherly videos so she can tell Putin to go fuck himself ("or, as my dear irish friends say, go feck yourself, ya rusky twat!")
by Anonymous | reply 249 | March 1, 2022 10:48 PM |
A woman who will be 96 in one month is entitled to look like shit.

That's not a bet. It's a sure thing.
In ten or twenty years, she won't be feeling anything.
by Anonymous | reply 251 | March 2, 2022 12:17 AM |
Gee, do you think maybe that was the joke?
by Anonymous | reply 252 | March 2, 2022 12:18 AM |
R242 thinks she should look like Kim Novak in 1956.

The Queen was a bug chaser.

If Diana were still alive, she would’ve cemented her status as The People’s Princess by hugging her COVID-positive former mother-in-law.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | March 3, 2022 3:24 PM |
If Diana were still alive, she'd be on the Polish border handing out blankets, toys, and food.

Eugenie should be more concerned about her association with Harry and Meghan.
