Jean Luc Brunel, former agent of top models, found dead in prison. According to BFMTV, Brunel, who was incarcerated in the prison of La Santé in Paris, hanged himself during the night of Friday to this Saturday.
The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed to AFP that the man, who is under investigation for several rapes of minors, had been found dead and indicated that an investigation into the cause of death had been opened, entrusted to the 3rd district of the judicial police.
Accused of rape by several former top models, which he contested, the septuagenarian had been indicted in late June 2021 for "rape of a minor over 15 years". He had already been indicted in December 2020 for "rape of a minor over 15 years" and "sexual harassment". He had also been placed under the intermediate status of witness for the facts of "aggravated human trafficking to the detriment of minor victims for the purpose of sexual exploitation". His death means the end of public proceedings in this case, unless other people are implicated.
His name was mentioned in an investigation in the United States on the sex trafficking involving Jeffrey Epstein, also found dead in his cell in August 2019. Jean-Luc Brunel had been arrested in December 2020 at Charles-de-Gaulle airport as he was about to take a flight to Dakar, and had been incarcerated following his indictment.
