Audrey Hepburn in "Roman Holiday", Grace Kelly in "Rear Window", and Barbara Stanwyck in her earliest films was stunning!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 19, 2022 12:08 AM |
What do you define as classical era? I assume until 1965-1967ish, when New Hollywood took over.
That being said, Ava Gardner and Hedy Lamarr. Honorable mentions to Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor.

It's always fascinating to see how some of the biggest sex symbols in the history of Hollywood: Jean Harlow, Lana Turner and Marilyn Monroe never make these lists.
Also, how actresses like Loretta Young, who was truly gorgeous but never played overtly sexy roles, rarely make the list.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 19, 2022 1:59 PM |
Madonna is the only modern celebrity as beautiful as the classic celebrities.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 19, 2022 2:24 PM |
When you say classical actress, are you referring to those from the Golden Age of Hollywood? Because Hunter Tylo and Laura Harring are not from that era…
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 19, 2022 2:33 PM |
Yvonne DeCarlo, beautiful and sexy.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 19, 2022 2:33 PM |
r34 I wasn't implying that Laura Harring was from the Golden Age of Hollywood. I was simply countering r32's dubious claim that "Madonna is the only modern celebrity as beautiful as the classic celebrities."

Ok r36.

I never understood the Audrey Hepburn love. She's attractive but not a classic beauty. I think the most beautiful woman is Brooke Shields.

Ava, Hedy, Merle, Kay Kendall, Liz. The brunette actresses were always hot and beautiful.

I'd invert R26.... as a beauty, Taylor could pull it off when she showed up. Leigh's beauty benefited from lighting and camera angles.

Grace Kelly. Icy perfection.
Elizabeth Taylor. Raven haired, violet eyed classic beauty.
Greta Garbo. I dont think one could sculpt a more perfect human face. Beyond sex.
Ava Gardner- sex bomb.
I think it's probably one of these ladies, but I dont know which. For me, Diana Rigg as Tracy Bond is up there as well.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | February 21, 2022 9:34 AM |
R58, Please see an ophthalmologist*, if you seriously believe Elizabeth Taylor looked like "any basic frau" just with "youth and makeup"!
First of all, she (and Tyrone Power) was born with a double row of black eyelashes framing gorgeous eyes of a rare violet hue.
Secondly, with or without lipstick, Elizabeth had an ideally shaped mouth.
Thirdly, and rumors of surgery notwithstanding, her nose was perfection.
The very shape of her face. Her widow's peak and full black hair. Her lush hourglass figure.
Cleopatra could only wish.
*Or a shrink!

Gene Tierney was a "their"? She must have been the first Hollywood star to state her pronouns.

[quote]I always thought Ingrid Bergman was beautiful. Even in a nun's habit, she glowed in The Bells of St. Mary's.
Her voice really added to her the feel of her seeming luminescent. When she walked into Rick's cafe as WWII's best dressed refugee, you could see how she would attract both Rick and Lazlo and help drive the story.
The thing that struck me about this article is that Pia is 81 and Isabella and Ingrid Jr. are 67 (her age when she died), and the article is two years old. Time flies - it does not seem that long ago when Isabella was trying to break into movies with White Knights (can't get more 80's than that movie). I am sure Pia probably has a few more negative memories than she lets on, but she and her sisters always seem to genuinely have fond feelings towards her in interviews. Roberto seems to stay more out of the public eye, but in the few older pics of him as a young man, he seemed handsome. Roberto Sr. did not seem to be an overly handsome man, but his genes combined with Ingrid's produced some good looking kids.

R101 I'm sorry to say that Isabella is now old, wrinkled and portly. She waddles.
She makes an unfortunate appearance as a 'spider lady' in this painfully-bad recent movie.

Isabella is closing in on 70. At least she is not all botoxed and trying to look 30. In that article above in the recent pic of the four kids, Ingrid Jr. looks like she might be aging better at this point. Pia looks good for being over 80.

R112 She had a messy rise to stardom.
She appeared in the early 50s and British used her because they wanted French sexpot (which she obviously isn't). And she was given a one-name fake name of "Anouk". And then they later added an additional fake name which means 'Beloved'.
