23 races this year. It seems like overkill.

Given how hilariously inaccurate Drive To Survive has been in past seasons, I expect this season to be no different. Look for the Lewis Hamilton/Max Verstappen accident at Silverstone to be portrayed as Hamilton taking out a hit on him by blasting hip hop from his car and tossing loose diamonds from his jewellery onto the track in order to cause a puncture.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 16, 2022 1:19 PM |
What do people make of the new cars (excluding Red Bull who've only shown the FIA show car in RB livery) launched so far? To my eyes they all seem to look refreshingly different from one another.

by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 16, 2022 4:16 PM |
R7 Jost Capito was interviewed and said that financially Williams currently didn't need to be chasing a title sponsor. Could be bullshit or true given the new cost cap plus Dorilton paying off the team's debt.
Of course, there could also be stuff going on behind the scenes with the VW Group for the future.

Michael Masi is gone as race director. The FIA tried to bury the announcement by scheduling it the same time as the Ferrari unveiling.
I first figured out that Masi wasn’t up to the job in Spain last year, the first time I saw him duck outside for a cigarette between sessions, pot belly hanging over his pants. He has no stamina.

Ear plugs, sunblock, good shoes, cash and good friends. That is what is needed for FI events.
Sometimes the best sights are in the party district the night after the race, in my opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 18, 2022 12:11 PM |
Although, in Melbourne, the winners don’t stay to party. The drivers get out of dodge and into their private jets for the 20 hour flight home. I ran into Nico Rosberg fending off professional autograph hunters at the airport after he won in, I think, 2016.

The good news: Uralkali and Nikita Mazepin are out aid Haas.
The great news: Kevin Magnussen is back! He is a genuine talent. He was offered a Toro Rosso seat but he elected to stay with Haas during their Rock Star era and was dumped for his efforts. So this is sweet.

I haven’t watched DTS since season 1 because it annoyed me so much.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 12, 2022 4:09 PM |
R20 it's not too bad this year, they had a lot of content, so they didn't have make shit up (too much).
Just a quick look at Russel in his underwear, and a comment about Bottas' butt from last season of DTS.
There is one episode about the Mazespin and their relationship with the team, it helps to understand why it didn't work.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 12, 2022 4:28 PM |
Valtteri Bottas did some nude cartwheeling in Australia during the off season
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 13, 2022 2:59 PM |
Nikita Mazepin rightfully comes off like an entitled piece of shit. The real world hit him over the head with a 2x4 and he couldn't handle it. Glad he's out for 2022.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 13, 2022 7:40 PM |
That was a fun race. The only bad thing I can say is the new cars are ugly and slow, it’s like watching Indy cars.
Seeing Ferrari back on top was fun. Equally fun was KMag’s return and best of the rest result. The Red Bull Power Trains fails mixed things up though when I saw Gasly’s car catch on fire at the same corner where Romain Grosjean crashed my heart went into my throat. And those Mercedes were porpoising like crazy, so the p3 and p4 were a surprise and I Lewis Hamilton’s podium acted as an exorcism for Abu Dhabi last year.

I made the mistake of watching the first episodes of DTS and Christian Horner annoyed me so much that I couldn’t watch the rest of the series.
So I laughed my ass off when the new RB engines fizzled out - and that after Verstappen’s multiple radio tantrums.
It was also super funny when Bottas did a terrific qualifying run and did his classic terrible start dropping back 7 places by the first corner. Glad he and Zhou got in the points though as I was a Sauber fan back in the day.

Carlos Sainz is so fucking hot. How can someone be this beautiful?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 21, 2022 8:02 AM |
Yep, Sainz is hot. Great lips and hair. He’s got good videos on his YouTube channel of him doing day to day stuff and he’s a funny guy as well.
Alonso is also hot. He’s the most fuckable to me. Lewis is handsome. Ricciardo has a great nose and smile but his personality (or the one he puts on) is a bit much. Charles is pretty. I don’t think that guy ever had an awkward phase.
Ocon, Mick, and Albon are pretty cute. I like Ocon’s quasi-bucktooth smile.
Gasly is unique looking. Sometimes he looks very good and the other times he just looks strange. He should model when he’s done driving. He’s got the look for it.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 21, 2022 1:27 PM |
Alonso is not aging very well, but the old pictures of him are really hot, Briatore made sure we had some "sexy" pictures of him. Nowadays I think he is with his "best friend/manager/brother", they seems to spend more time together than with Alonso's girfriend. Have you guys watch his documentary on Amazon? It's also on YT.

Nelson Piquet Sr called Lewis the Brazilian equivalent of the n-word twice in an interview last year and the Brazilian media outlet released the footage just in time for Silverstone.
His son NP jr who drove against (and lost to) Lewis in the lower formulae tried to excused it by saying it means “friend” and his grandmother used to call. Black Brazilians have piped up calling bullshit. It’s used “friend” between black people (not a hard-r n-word then?) plus Piquet was insulting Lewis in the interview and the whole family has publicly hated him for years so his intention wasn’t squeaky clean.

So my UMC grandmother is really into her F1, and she used to rally in her youth. Personally, I can't drive and am not interested in cars or motorsport at all (I like and 'get' football/soccer, snooker and darts--the poor trash sports), but I'm trying to connect with her better, so I'm wondering if there's some core nugget of F1 that I'm missing which would bring me enjoyment and understanding. Is liking cars a vital pre-requisite? Or liking race-based sport?
Apparently a lot of top-flight footballers are fans of F1, so maybe that's my way into it--just imagine my Prem boys getting really into it, and gritting my teeth until it clicks?

I’m going to the Austrian GP this weekend (my first live race! Exciting) and I flew from Heathrow to Vienna today and guess who was on my flight? Alex Albon. Woot woot.
I was one of the first ones to the departure gate and took a seat, and then I look over to this tall guy with purple hair walking in and it was Alex. He sat in some seats against the wall and put his two carryons on the two seats next to him (I guess so no one would bother him. Understandable). A group of five teens saw him and went over and asked for a selfie, which he said of course!, but no one else bothered him. Which was nice to see.
After the flight I figured he’d be long gone (he was in first class, me in coach) but I saw him at the baggage claim. Again only one person asked for a pic. I was waiting sort of out of the way for my bag (away from the big jumble of people at the start of the conveyer belt) and Alex came over my way and stood near me. I decided to say something since he was so close, I didn’t expect to see him again, and I knew I probably wouldn’t ever have another opportunity.
I told him I liked his helmet from last race and asked if he’d be wearing it this weekend. He smiled and said thanks and that he wouldn’t. I said it was cute and I liked the cats. He laughed. That’s all I said, I didn’t want to be too annoying. I didn’t ask for a selfie or an autograph. I feel pretty good about that.
He’s cute. Especially when he smiles. He has great skin as well. I hope he gets in the points on a Sunday.

R129 could give us an idea what it's like to go a race after the week-end? I always wonder if it was worth the money/time/energy.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | July 7, 2022 6:43 AM |
Not r29 but I’ve been to Melbourne 4 times. It’s a very, very expensive weekend. I wouldn’t go unless you’re a big fan of racing. I am, so I enjoyed myself.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | July 7, 2022 8:23 AM |
I'd relate my experience at a live F1 race, but it was when Emerson Fittipaldi secured the championship posthumously for Jochen Rindt at Watkins Glen, with Jacky Ickx second. I suspect things have changed.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | July 7, 2022 4:41 PM |
R135 go on, I'm listening! that might be more interesting than a 2022 race!
by Anonymous | reply 136 | July 8, 2022 6:42 AM |
Well, I recall Ickx coming from way back in the field to second. Had he won he would have been Champion instead of Rindt. And Watkins Glen is beautiful.

Body language between Ferrari boys is so cold. They may enter their I Hate Amy TeamMate Era.
I need them to sort it out. In a hot tub.

R129 there are problems with harassment from the red bull fans, are you ok? Are you in a grandstand with Max's fans?
by Anonymous | reply 144 | July 10, 2022 2:24 PM |
Yay, Charles.
Ferrari need to get their shit together. WtF happened to the car? It went up in flames!!
😖😖😭🤬
by Anonymous | reply 145 | July 10, 2022 3:31 PM |
Thanks for the concern r144! I am just fine, back at my hotel after an exhausting, but fun!, three days.
Thankfully I was not sitting in one of Max’s grandstands. That would be hell! There were sooo many Max fans at the race. That one section out near the bull statue would be terrible for a non Red Bull fan (like me). So many loud, drunk, obnoxious people with all those smoke flares. And in the sun. No thank you. I had enough of them in the fan/shop areas.
I was seated in the start/stop grandstand and it was definitely civilized. No problems that I saw, but I 100% believe there was a problem for other people- especially woman. Some people are just assholes. Like the ones who cheered when Lewis crashed during the Sprint. That was shitty.
I won’t ever go to a Belgium or Netherlands race as long as Max is a driver- too many of his fans there!
I’m happy Charles won! He needed that. It was pretty scary when Carlos’ car caught fire, started rolling backwards, and Carlos was still in it. Glad he’s okay. Happy for Mick and Haas also!
My fav driver, Vettel, didn’t do so well, but he started the race and the sprint yesterday directly in front of where I was sitting so i got some sweet pics of him and his fantastic bee helmet. Though, I don’t think he smiled once. This was not his weekend. :(
I had such a blast. Maybe I’ll do Canada next year (finances permitting).
by Anonymous | reply 146 | July 10, 2022 7:08 PM |
Thanks for the report back R146. Just watching the race on C4. One of the better races this season - some great battles and drives up and down the grid.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | July 10, 2022 7:10 PM |
Glad you enjoyed yourself, r146. The track is so gorgeous as is Spa, but I won’t be going there.
I can understand cheering when a driver drives off because it’s sort of exciting but throwing a dance party when he’s silent in the car and you don’t know if all his limbs are unbroken is another matter. Did the Max fans forget what happened to Zhou just last week?!
Most of the crazy behaviour reported - lifting skirts, pissing at opposing fans feet, groping and sexual comments - would have the instigators ejected where I live because the venues and organisers don’t want to open themselves up to criminal liabilities. Maybe the regulations are different in Austria, but it’s a bad look.

R129 R146 could you give us an idea of how much it cost to go to a F1 race? Did you manage to find some accommodation, how much is the food at the track, etc...?
by Anonymous | reply 149 | July 13, 2022 5:36 AM |
R149 for what it's worth, here is a cost breakdown to give you an idea
by Anonymous | reply 150 | July 13, 2022 8:18 AM |
Isn’t there a very select club that you can join and you go to every single race?
Like deluxe accommodations, private parties with the drivers and of course tickets to all the events and the race itself?
That would be incredible. 😳.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | July 14, 2022 3:24 AM |
Yes r151, what you’re desiring is paddock club access.
As for private parties with the drivers they are there to work, they do as little PR as their contracts will allow them. Most of them fly out hours after the race.

by Anonymous | reply 153 | July 14, 2022 8:40 AM |

Charles is going to have some serious grey hair when his stint with Ferrari is over. Or he’ll be bald from stress.
This is not a happy noise.

Seb is saying sayonara.
Naturally, Danny Ricc‘s teenage girl fans think Aston Martin want him, LOL.
by Anonymous | reply 163 | July 28, 2022 1:20 PM |
I’ll miss seeing Vettel out there. I picked him as my favorite driver back in 2014. I was hoping he’d go to a new team after this year and keep at it for another couple of years.
But you could tell the guy is unhappy (from the hobo hair and beard alone) and Aston Martin wasn’t doing it for him.
I think Lewis will be done after next year, and Alonso will drive until he’s 45.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | July 28, 2022 1:21 PM |
McLaren is better than Aston Martin, Ricciardo would be dumb to make that switch.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | July 28, 2022 1:45 PM |
R164 I support Lewis Hamilton, Kevin Magnussen and Carlos Sainz.
There’s also Oscar Piastri and possibly Logan Sargent next year.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | July 28, 2022 1:52 PM |
The drivers in the second press conference were asked if they were interested in Aston Martin.
They all (politely) said no, but the best response was from Bottas:
"I never believed I'd say it, but I have a contract!"
by Anonymous | reply 167 | July 28, 2022 2:20 PM |
I like Bottas. He’s low key funny and I appreciate a man willing to show ass.

they need somebody who can develop a car, I hope Alonso is not going to AM, it would be a set back, Alpine needs him. I don't understand why they haven't sign him yet for 2023, he is really asking for that much money? He is supposed to have millions in banks. His name shows up every time there is a "panama paper" story in the news.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | July 29, 2022 6:07 AM |
I hope he stays at Alpine also. I like him and Ocon together. This video is cute.

Treat him gently, Carlos

R172 Absolute carnage at Alpine - losing Alonso and Piastri (subject to contract bust up) in 2 days!
Maybe opens a door for Pourchaire to step up?
by Anonymous | reply 173 | August 2, 2022 7:06 PM |
At this point it’s anyone’s guess.
I just don’t want Danny Ricc to move to yet another team, he has been moping around like a kicked puppy since 2019.

Calling it now - Piastri is replacing Yuki Tsunoda at Alpha Tauri with an eye to taking Perez’s seat in 2025.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | August 3, 2022 3:54 AM |
OMG 5 days without being able to post!!!!! FFS what did I do to deserve that!
anyway, I am R169 and I hate to see I was right to see Alonso at Aston. I'm gutted.
Even weirder is Piastri's contract timing, super suspect. Alonso doesn't need to throw the all Alpine team under the bus, he could tell Rosi and Otmar to go fuck off, he is too old for that kind of shit, he should know better by now.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | August 5, 2022 8:30 PM |
Apparently Alonso was being paid, or was offered a contract for 2023, for less than Ocon. And we all know how his ego is. He’s still a major brat. Alpine is apparently bleeding money.
Mark Webber read the writing on the Ricciardo wall from Zac Brown’s comments and was clearly in cahoots with Alonso to release Piastri to McLaren which is a cooler brand and has money for development.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | August 5, 2022 8:38 PM |
Even if Ricciardo stays at McLaren, it must suck to work at a place where know you aren’t wanted. Sounds like they want him gone and Oscar in.
Ricciardo to Haas?
by Anonymous | reply 179 | August 5, 2022 11:38 PM |
Ricciardo is a great driver, who constantly was put in the second best cars. They are doing him dirty. Plus he's hot. Sexy people deserve better.
by Anonymous | reply 180 | August 5, 2022 11:42 PM |
Piastri isn’t going be a fan fav at first if he takes Daniels seat. People like him.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | August 6, 2022 12:34 AM |
Get real, Ricciardo has been stinky for years and is coasting off his persona. He’s a good driver but not a great one - or maybe he peaked in 2020 when he was at Renault. He beat Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen at various points but Vettel peaked at a young age as a driver and has 4 championships to show for his efforts, and Verstappen was in his Crashstappen era then.
He couldn’t beat Max in the same car now. Hamilton has shown he is still one of the top 2 drivers on the grid. Norris has humiliated him. Russell, LeClerc, Alonso and arguably Magnussen would smoke him. I think it’s his own fault for leaving Red Bull. I wouldn’t want to be a work for the belligerent Horner or the crazy Marko, but he also wanted to be the number 1 driver in a team when he’s no longer up to the task. Bouncing from team to team shows a weakness of character.
F1 and the FIA would want him around for a couple of years as the sport goes onto ESPN and adds the Las Vegas race so he’ll have no trouble getting a seat. If, say, Schumacher goes to Alpine, he could be a fun fit for Haas and a very popular ambassador for the team in America.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | August 6, 2022 5:02 PM |
R178 Alonson was offered less money than ASTON, not OCON. The kid only won one race, Alonso has two championship!! There is at least one digit difference between them. If Ocon get 1 million (and I'm not sure he really get it), Alonso get 10 millions.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | August 6, 2022 5:57 PM |
That's stupid, now that Piastri is gone to McLaren, Alpine can offer the multiyear contract he wants, and when he is fed up driving, he can have a go at being team principal, after Otmar is shown the door...
by Anonymous | reply 184 | August 7, 2022 6:12 AM |
Don’t underestimate Alonso’s sheer pettiness. The only reason a driver as great as he is has only 2 championships is because of his own self-sabotage. He has a history of flouncing off from teams.
