Looking for genuine alternative explanations for all these witness statements. Are there any?
It's often highlighted that 62 children were witnesses, but when you look closer, there were only a handful of children who actually said they saw something. And I don't find the arguments "why would children lie?" very convincing, because anyone who's spent time around kids knows that they can be fantasists and to feed off each other too.
When I was a kid I "saw" the easter bunny. Now clearly, I didn't. But I was convinced I did, and I got my cousins onto the same thing too, just by me being adamant I had seen it. Suddenly they had and they could tell you things about the easter bunny too.
I do wonder if they saw something and interpreted it through what they had seen or been hearing about elsewhere though. Also, they weren't interviewed properly afterwards. What we see happened awhile after the event and the kids are put in one room to talk about it, rather than split up. Then, they are asked leading questions. It's not very satisfactory.

There is a history of mass hysteria events involving children. And note the similarities between this event and some events with religious overtones, alleged miraculous visitations from divine figures, like Fatima. However, note that none of these Zimbabwean kids, now adults, many of them now in esteemed positions in life, have ever recanted or walked back their claims. In fact they've doubled down despite the sometimes unwelcome attention this brings. I can't dismiss this incident out of hand, and anyone who does, lacks an open mind.

I really enjoyed this documentary and watched it several times. This segment was the least convincing to me, though. Same thing with sighting in Australia. Maybe mass hysteria or something like it is the explanation. It is a great subject to vet lost in though.

It's not just children who are prone to exaggerating. Adults are just as apt to do it if they see a lot of excitement around a particular event. All it takes is one person to make some fantastical claim, and then one more latches on, and another, and then it grows until it's mass hysteria. If the news media gets involved the hysteria just magnifies. Everybody wants to get their little bit of fame.

This is like miracles from Christians. Miracles from 2000 years ago we're like a guy walked on water. And there were tons of miracles back then. Absolutely Unverifiable. Nowadays, almost no miracles are happening. Because people are not as gullible as 2000 years ago.
Same with sightings of UFOs, the yeti etc. They are more and more rare, in remote areas (this one is in Zimbabwe). Unverifiable. How convenient! Why not in the middle of Time Square where hundreds of people with a phone could record?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 16, 2022 4:47 AM |
I can think of a lot of reasons why not. Do you seriously think a landing in Time Square would end well?

If you're avoiding being seen, sure not Time Square, but then why even land in a schoolyard? Why not the middle of an unpopulated area? It's so convenient it always happens in places where things cannot be verified and are based on hearsay.
R15, that doesn't make sense.

I have a working theory aliens that come here are disaster tourists. Its why they only ever turn up to meth country and apparently Zimbabwe in its early stages of collapse. When they actually land in Time Square its probably time to start playing Nearer, my God, to Thee and head for the bunkers.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 16, 2022 1:37 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 17, 2022 12:37 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 17, 2022 5:42 AM |
If I were an alien there is no way I'd land at the White House or in a major city. The chance of being killed or detained after5 stepping out of the saucer would have to be close to 100%.

One thing that I found suspect was how as adults they were taking about how the aliens sent them messages warning them of impending environmental and ecological disasters on Earth. That seemed like embellishment, since there’s no mention of these warnings from them as kids.

Comedians have pointed out that what you NEVER hear is:
"I saw a UFO last night. The other members of the Board and I were just wrapping up our meeting and there it was, right outside the windows. We all saw it and spent the next hour bringing our different specialities to a discussion of what it might have been. Then we reported it to my old school friend the Defence Minister."

The Dyatlav Pass incident.
[quote]The article, titled “The Enigma of the Fireballs,” said that the skiers had been killed by heat rays or balls of fire associated with U.F.O.s. In his original examination of the scene, Ivanov had found trees with unusual burn marks, which “confirmed that some kind of heat ray, say, or a powerful force whose nature is completely unknown (to us, at least) acted selectively on specific objects”—in this case, people. The last photograph in Krivonishchenko’s camera showed flares and streaks of light against a black background.
UFO was one theory. However, the article embraces the avalanche conclusion.

We live in an age of constant surveillance. Half the humans on earth now have amazing video cameras in their pockets at all times. It's time to stop worrying too much about the old accounts and blurry photographs. We are starting to see grainy videos of objects appearing to act in ways that don't match with our understanding of physics. We will likely know soon enough what these things are and get better video of them.
There is also a long history of liars and scammers associated with UFO accounts. There's an entire industry set up to make money off people who want to buy books and go to conferences.
It's unlikely any alien spacecraft would have living beings on it if it came from somewhere else. Our own fast tech evolution towards drones suggests the old accounts of alien beings on these crafts is a lot like biblical "miracles" - stories that stretched the bounds of the imagination at the time but not by much and seem quaint in retrospect.
There may be an entire level of reality we can not process. Read about DMT experiences or the book LSD and the mind of the universe. What is going on here may be far stranger than little green men riding a space plane across the universe to visit.

Also, there has never, ever been a claim of supernatural anything that has stood up to a scientific test. All the craziest and fun to think about shit--psychic powers from mind reading to speaking to the dead, to future predicting to telekinesis (items levitating or moving through mental power)--there hasn't been a single person who could actually perform these things that hasn't been revealed (or admitted to be) a total fraud.
Every single attempt to scientifically validate these claims, which are not uncommon, has failed over the last 50 years. Just like every UFO narrative tends to fall apart once actual evidence gets investigated.
