Hitler As You've Not Seen Him Before
An interesting bit of info for those like me who are interested in WWII. The young'uns probably won't be interested.
The NAZI regime made sure (or thought they did) no one knew or saw that Hitler had advanced Parkinson's disease. Footage cut from videos during the war and then found in a German film lab show how far the disease had advanced by the end of the war.

He had Parkinson's symptoms, not necessarily the disease. If the bomb that went off in his office cured him for a time it seems more central nervous system related, as in mental illness. I've often thought he was bipolar

OP, I'm a WW II buff as well.
I'm not buying that Hitler had Parkinson's. Yes, he had some kind of intermittent shaking indicating either nerve damage in his left arm or a more general neurological issue. But not something as serious as Parkinsons
And yeah, he was a huge drug addict.

Why does everyone think he didn’t have Parkinson’s? That’s the most likely illness. Plus it seems he already was starting to have mental issues, which is also a sign.

Because there are many theories about his health. He could have been ill with any of them. Or maybe he was just a serious meth addict. We'll never know.

None of this is new. I'll tell you what's new. Hitler was an avid bowler. He had lanes built in his mountain retreat in Berchtesgaden, but he didn't want people to know because he didn't want to become the patron saint of bowling in Germany. I learned this from a documentary on Rochus Misch, one of Hitler's long-serving bodyguards who died about 10 years ago.

So, it's not new? But I dare say most people had no idea that Hitler had some sort of palsy and shook like a leaf near the end. I didn't know it. The only illness I ever heard he most likely had was syphilis.

I think there were specific batches of some illicit drug that caused Parkinson's signs (cocaine maybe, not sure which drug) a decade ago. It made the news because lots were affected.
I don't think generally drug uses causes parkinsons

Reichsführer-SS Himmler retained Finnish masseur Felix Kersten to relieve his painful abdominal cramping. Kersten after the war claimed that Himmler had revealed to him the top secret information that Hitler had been suffering from syphilis for decades. Kersten was a bit of a fame whore though, so it's possible he was just trying to sell books and there is no way to verify his story.

People (especially on datalounge) always want to link illness or ageing looks to bad habits like drug use. I guess it comforts them to think bad things won’t happen to them. Most people who develop Parkinson’s just have bad luck, and people look old because they are old.

It's not new that Hitler had Parkinson's.
The footage showing the shaking and tremors is new.
Twenty years ago or so, recordings of him negotiating with the Finnish wartime leader Mannerheim were discovered. You could hear Hitler calmy negotiating with the Finns. What was shocking was the conversational tone, so unlike the ranting, public speaker we are used to hearing. It gave voice to Arrendt's "banality of evil."

John F. Kennedy also had a list of maladies that were kept totally secret from the American public. And he took a ton of drugs. Here's some info on that:
Kennedy suffered from colitis, prostatitis, and a disorder called Addison's disease, which affects the body's ability to regulate blood sugar and sodium. He also had osteoporosis of the lower back, causing pain so severe that he was unable to perform simple tasks such as reaching across his desk to pull papers forward, or pulling the shoe and sock onto his left foot.
To fight the pain, Kennedy took as many as 12 medications at once, taking more during times of stress.
The medical records reveal that Kennedy variously took codeine, Demerol and methadone for pain; Ritalin, a stimulant; meprobamate and librium for anxiety; barbiturates for sleep; thyroid hormone; and injections of a blood derivative, gamma globulin, a medicine that combats infections.
During the Bay of Pigs fiasco in 1961, and the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962, Kennedy was taking steroids for his Addison's disease, painkillers for his back, anti-spasmodics for his colitis, antibiotics for urinary tract infections, antihistamines for his allergies, and on at least one occasion, an anti-psychotic drug to treat a severe mood change that Jackie Kennedy believed was brought on by the antihistamines.

Read the Wikipedia article. He was arrested in 1923 and sent to Landsberg prison, where he was given a physical exam. One of the doctors included a note that he had only one testicle. Those records weren't released publicly until 2015.
Years later, whenever he was examined by his own Nazi doctors, he always refused to disrobe completely.

Pandemically speaking, an American doctor at Nuremberg who after conversations with Albert Speer, and learning of Hitler's oft-mentioned belief that he would have a short life because of heath issues, concluded that Hitler was suffering from long-haul after-affects of the Spanish Flu, including symptoms like encephalitis and worsening nervous system disorders. These symptoms were well documented at the time among the general population and many succumbed years after their exposure to the virus.
