Hitler As You've Not Seen Him Before

An interesting bit of info for those like me who are interested in WWII. The young'uns probably won't be interested.

The NAZI regime made sure (or thought they did) no one knew or saw that Hitler had advanced Parkinson's disease. Footage cut from videos during the war and then found in a German film lab show how far the disease had advanced by the end of the war.

He had Parkinson's symptoms, not necessarily the disease. If the bomb that went off in his office cured him for a time it seems more central nervous system related, as in mental illness. I've often thought he was bipolar

by Anonymousreply 1February 14, 2022 11:55 AM

Shakier than Michael J Fox on a washing machine

by Anonymousreply 2February 14, 2022 11:56 AM

I'm sure the daily regimen of speedballs didn't help either.

He was the whole package, wasn’t he?!

by Anonymousreply 4February 14, 2022 12:23 PM

OP, I'm a WW II buff as well.

I'm not buying that Hitler had Parkinson's. Yes, he had some kind of intermittent shaking indicating either nerve damage in his left arm or a more general neurological issue. But not something as serious as Parkinsons

And yeah, he was a huge drug addict.

by Anonymousreply 5February 14, 2022 12:25 PM

He treated me well until he poisoned me. Order the shooting of my babies too!

by Anonymousreply 6February 14, 2022 12:27 PM

How come Drumpf does wear costumes like that?

by Anonymousreply 7February 14, 2022 12:29 PM

*doesn't ^^

by Anonymousreply 8February 14, 2022 12:30 PM

They had magnificent costumes and the best drugs

by Anonymousreply 9February 14, 2022 12:31 PM

This thread title reminds me of US Weekly.

by Anonymousreply 10February 14, 2022 12:31 PM

R383. Diana would be menopausal at 61?

by Anonymousreply 12February 14, 2022 12:43 PM

Nazi uniforms were designed by committees rather than by particular designers which I find interesting.

R12, wrong thread, but I think she’d be post-menopausal by that time.

by Anonymousreply 14February 14, 2022 12:55 PM

Apparently Hitler could predict the future. Some of his predictions were internet porn and the rise of JLO.

by Anonymousreply 15February 14, 2022 12:56 PM

Why does everyone think he didn’t have Parkinson’s? That’s the most likely illness. Plus it seems he already was starting to have mental issues, which is also a sign.

by Anonymousreply 16February 14, 2022 1:00 PM

None of this is new. All well documented and discussed in much more detail in Kershaw’s definitive 2 volume bio.

by Anonymousreply 17February 14, 2022 1:11 PM

Because there are many theories about his health. He could have been ill with any of them. Or maybe he was just a serious meth addict. We'll never know.

[quote] How come Drumpf does wear costumes like that?

He wears his own brand of shirts and out of style solid ties, made in GH-ina!

by Anonymousreply 19February 14, 2022 1:29 PM

None of this is new. I'll tell you what's new. Hitler was an avid bowler. He had lanes built in his mountain retreat in Berchtesgaden, but he didn't want people to know because he didn't want to become the patron saint of bowling in Germany. I learned this from a documentary on Rochus Misch, one of Hitler's long-serving bodyguards who died about 10 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 20February 14, 2022 1:38 PM

What a fuckin' pussy

by Anonymousreply 21February 14, 2022 1:40 PM

The Gabors bowled in Palm Springs. Imagine Zsa Zsa bent over in stretch pants throwing a strike. Just like the Fuhrer.

by Anonymousreply 22February 14, 2022 1:53 PM

[quote] he already was starting to have mental issues

Starting to!?

by Anonymousreply 23February 14, 2022 2:07 PM

[quote] None of this is new.

So, it's not new? But I dare say most people had no idea that Hitler had some sort of palsy and shook like a leaf near the end. I didn't know it. The only illness I ever heard he most likely had was syphilis.

by Anonymousreply 24February 14, 2022 4:12 PM

A lot of the time Parkinson's is caused by drug use, right? I had an argument with my mother about this.

by Anonymousreply 25February 14, 2022 6:12 PM

R25, I don’t know about that. I know someone who recently died of it (at a pretty young age of 60) and never took drugs. But of course, that’s just one example.

by Anonymousreply 26February 14, 2022 6:32 PM

So does Hillary!! Look it up on the internet!!

by Anonymousreply 27February 14, 2022 6:39 PM

[quote] A lot of the time Parkinson's is caused by drug use, right? I had an argument with my mother about this.

I think there were specific batches of some illicit drug that caused Parkinson's signs (cocaine maybe, not sure which drug) a decade ago. It made the news because lots were affected.

I don't think generally drug uses causes parkinsons

Hitler as You’ve not Seem Him Before

As a troubling illness looms on the horizon and a new live blossoms, Hitler invites us into his private world as never before. Learn what makes him tick—-from his passion for German history to his mistrust of increasingly vocal fringe elements in German society. Discover his solutions to Germany’s persistent problems and enjoy a glimpse into his intimate circle. Close colleagues, including Goebbels and Himmler, speak publicly for the first time.

Monday 8 EST

by Anonymousreply 29February 14, 2022 6:42 PM

Reichsführer-SS Himmler retained Finnish masseur Felix Kersten to relieve his painful abdominal cramping. Kersten after the war claimed that Himmler had revealed to him the top secret information that Hitler had been suffering from syphilis for decades. Kersten was a bit of a fame whore though, so it's possible he was just trying to sell books and there is no way to verify his story.

by Anonymousreply 37February 14, 2022 7:08 PM

I'm pretty sure the flat affect comes before the shake in Parkinson's, not afterwards.

by Anonymousreply 38February 14, 2022 7:10 PM

This is literally the oldest of old news, OP.

by Anonymousreply 39February 14, 2022 7:17 PM

I watch Nazi docs every year. Now I'm watching Epoche Media's 2018 13 ep documentary "The Hitler Chronicles". Boy is it padded, but lots of footage. People forget how modern society already was. Also that Prussian dedication to meticulous records keeping is impressive.

by Anonymousreply 40February 14, 2022 7:21 PM

People (especially on datalounge) always want to link illness or ageing looks to bad habits like drug use. I guess it comforts them to think bad things won’t happen to them. Most people who develop Parkinson’s just have bad luck, and people look old because they are old.

by Anonymousreply 49February 14, 2022 7:59 PM

He killed a lot of jews so we know he more than rotted in hell. He decayed in hell.

by Anonymousreply 50February 14, 2022 8:21 PM

We're all predisposed for certain illnesses. Rarely do our actions cause a disease.

by Anonymousreply 51February 14, 2022 8:50 PM

Maybe Mengele’s experiments were to find a cure for what ailed Drumpfler.

by Anonymousreply 52February 14, 2022 9:23 PM

There were two different rumors used to explain Hitler's alleged monorchism. One was that he was born with an undescended testicle. The other was that he was shot in the balls during World War I.

by Anonymousreply 53February 14, 2022 9:29 PM

The other one was purely ornamental.

by Anonymousreply 54February 14, 2022 9:31 PM

Where's the Larry King interview with Adolf? Larry? We're standing by...

by Anonymousreply 55February 14, 2022 9:49 PM

There is some evidence that he really was a monorchid but none of it is conclusive and some of it contradictory.

BTW, the famous little ditty sung by soldier's in WWII at r43 is sung to the tune of Colonel Bogie's March, aka The March from The Bridge on the River Kwai.

by Anonymousreply 59February 14, 2022 9:55 PM

If he had only one ball it would be in his medical records, but no info there.

by Anonymousreply 60February 14, 2022 9:58 PM

One ball fit better in mouth.

by Anonymousreply 61February 14, 2022 10:00 PM

I'd be interested to learn how Hitler's medical records survived the war when his doctor spent years in a Russian camp after the fall of Berlin.

by Anonymousreply 62February 14, 2022 10:05 PM

[quote]If he had only one ball it would be in his medical records, but no info there.

Not entirely correct. Read the WP article linked above.

by Anonymousreply 63February 14, 2022 10:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 64February 14, 2022 10:07 PM

[quote] I'd be interested to learn how Hitler's medical records survived the war when his doctor spent years in a Russian camp after the fall of Berlin.

I don't know the answer, but as someone else said, the Germans kept meticulous records of everything. Same with the Japanese.

by Anonymousreply 65February 14, 2022 10:16 PM

The drug use is well documented. That entire country was speeding their brains out. See the documentary "Blitzed".

by Anonymousreply 66February 14, 2022 10:17 PM

It's not new that Hitler had Parkinson's.

The footage showing the shaking and tremors is new.

Twenty years ago or so, recordings of him negotiating with the Finnish wartime leader Mannerheim were discovered. You could hear Hitler calmy negotiating with the Finns. What was shocking was the conversational tone, so unlike the ranting, public speaker we are used to hearing. It gave voice to Arrendt's "banality of evil."

by Anonymousreply 67February 14, 2022 10:18 PM

John F. Kennedy also had a list of maladies that were kept totally secret from the American public. And he took a ton of drugs. Here's some info on that:

Kennedy suffered from colitis, prostatitis, and a disorder called Addison's disease, which affects the body's ability to regulate blood sugar and sodium. He also had osteoporosis of the lower back, causing pain so severe that he was unable to perform simple tasks such as reaching across his desk to pull papers forward, or pulling the shoe and sock onto his left foot.

To fight the pain, Kennedy took as many as 12 medications at once, taking more during times of stress.

The medical records reveal that Kennedy variously took codeine, Demerol and methadone for pain; Ritalin, a stimulant; meprobamate and librium for anxiety; barbiturates for sleep; thyroid hormone; and injections of a blood derivative, gamma globulin, a medicine that combats infections.

During the Bay of Pigs fiasco in 1961, and the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962, Kennedy was taking steroids for his Addison's disease, painkillers for his back, anti-spasmodics for his colitis, antibiotics for urinary tract infections, antihistamines for his allergies, and on at least one occasion, an anti-psychotic drug to treat a severe mood change that Jackie Kennedy believed was brought on by the antihistamines.

We KNEW NOTHING! About the bowling.

by Anonymousreply 69February 14, 2022 10:32 PM

R67 Hitler also admits on that recording with Mannerheim that he didn't know what he was in for in his war against Russia and it was a big mistake but that he would have done it anyway!

by Anonymousreply 70February 14, 2022 10:37 PM

Many European countries had (and still have) cultures of centuries of meticulous record keeping. It should surprise no one how much detail survives wars. Much of it incriminating. That's the perversity of it all. Absolutely no qualms about documenting atrocities.

by Anonymousreply 74February 14, 2022 10:44 PM

Read the Wikipedia article. He was arrested in 1923 and sent to Landsberg prison, where he was given a physical exam. One of the doctors included a note that he had only one testicle. Those records weren't released publicly until 2015.

Years later, whenever he was examined by his own Nazi doctors, he always refused to disrobe completely.

Pandemically speaking, an American doctor at Nuremberg who after conversations with Albert Speer, and learning of Hitler's oft-mentioned belief that he would have a short life because of heath issues, concluded that Hitler was suffering from long-haul after-affects of the Spanish Flu, including symptoms like encephalitis and worsening nervous system disorders. These symptoms were well documented at the time among the general population and many succumbed years after their exposure to the virus.

by Anonymousreply 83February 14, 2022 11:02 PM

Why do people describe him as wicked but charismatic? He wasn't charming at all. He seemed openly insane.

by Anonymousreply 84February 14, 2022 11:24 PM

In his lifetime and before his rise, he was being described as neurotic if not psychotic, not unlike many American CEOs. It can be a tricky diagnosis.

I, too, find NAZI drag beautiful. One has to work hard to divorce the costumes from the atrocities of the Third Reich, though, to appreciate their sublime style. And my Euro family suffered greatly during the war.

A friend took me to a used uniform shop in Bournemouth years ago. It was fantastic but when I came upon a few NAZI jackets it felt wrong. No. No. No.

The latina queen at R86 is concerned about clarifying that Hugo Boss did make Nazi uniforms, but did not design them; she speaks of this with a fervent passion while the second movement of Dvorak's String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96 "The American" is playing in the background.
