We’ll get to see Bobby Hill as a grown man.
Planned ‘King of the Hill’ Reboot Would Involve 15 Year Time Jump

Do we need this? We don’t need this.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 12, 2022 10:22 PM |
I can't wait. It took awhile to get into the show because of its slow pace. But it was worth it.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 12, 2022 10:24 PM |
Bobby was very gay. He's lost the weight.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 12, 2022 10:25 PM |
Connie also seemed not entirely straight. Peggy would've thrown herself into being a PFLAG mom.

Let's not and say we did.

RIP Lucky.
RIP LuAnn.

I loved this show. Just leave it alone.

Who says you won’t still love it, R7?

[QUOTE] Bobby was very gay. He's lost the weight.
Or he gained a lot more.

I’m a big fan of the show and this excites me.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 20, 2022 3:23 PM |
Me too. Mike Judge is an underrated genius.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 20, 2022 3:26 PM |
I am very excited at the prospect of King of the Hill coming back. Fox treated the show badly toward the end, and really it could have continued indefinitely.
Hulu ordered 20 new episodes of Futurama recently. I am glad that classic primetime animation is getting some love.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 20, 2022 3:36 PM |
Peggy would love being a gay icon. The episode in which she is mistaken for a drag queen confirms this.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 20, 2022 3:37 PM |
Why do adults watch cartoons?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 20, 2022 3:40 PM |
Why shouldn't they? Just because it's animated doesn't mean it's Peppa the Pig.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 20, 2022 3:52 PM |
They're good. And they're made for adults. The fucking Flintstones was made for adults, King of the Hill is more adult and emotionally satisfying than most other television. And books I've read recently. Give it a whirl, r14, it could only help soften that stick in your ass
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 20, 2022 3:54 PM |
It would be funny if Pamela Adlon did Bobby's voice as is. There are a few men out there with those high reedy voices
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 20, 2022 3:56 PM |
We're never going to see an original idea again, are we?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 20, 2022 3:56 PM |
All good points about adults watching cartoons. Now, put your slippers on, dear, we’re pulling into gramma’s driveway.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 20, 2022 4:23 PM |
Rebooting animated series makes more sense in a lot of ways, as you can make the characters any age you like. I wonder how they'll handle the loss of Brittany Murphy?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 20, 2022 4:48 PM |
They could recast LuAnne with a whisky-voiced smoker. Lucky is dead, she's back in the trailer with her daughter Lasagna, smoking, drinking, and doing meth.
Brittany originally voiced Joseph, until he hit puberty and they recast him with Breckin Meyer.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 20, 2022 4:54 PM |
The Simpsons would probably be a much, much better show today if they’d let the characters age. It would also make some sense of the voice changes. I don’t know why all the animated shows are so scared to let it happen.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 20, 2022 5:01 PM |
Honestly, Marge Simpson's voice is unlistenable now.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 20, 2022 5:03 PM |
But if Marge was actually an older woman now, one might suppose it was done on purpose.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 20, 2022 7:07 PM |
"9 months in your stomach, those were good times too!" still kills me every time I hear it. Im on board with this, especially if they tie it into modern times. Id love to hear hank's thoughts on Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 20, 2022 8:09 PM |
I'm sure Breckin Meyer is glad to get the work.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 20, 2022 8:12 PM |
Oh man, between the woke replacements for the minority character voices and Julie Kavner sounding like she gave up one lung for Lent, the Simpsons is just painful to watch. of course, their shitty scripts don't help, either.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 20, 2022 8:17 PM |
I'd miss Luann's "Unca Hank".
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 20, 2022 8:58 PM |
This is something I would never have watched if not for an ex-boyfriend who was obsessed with it, but it's actually hilarious. I hope they bring it back. My favourite episodes are the Peggy focused ones, particularly the ones where she is outed for not actually having any of the skills she claims to have (i.e Spanish).

I agree! There is an assertive Texas mom type just like Peggy. I don't think the reboot is a bad idea, and I am very curious what they do with Bobby. Like someone else said above, Mike Judge is an underrated genius. He let Silicon Valley go on too long but where the characters ended up in the finale made sense.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 20, 2022 9:43 PM |
I love the episodes where Peggy is humiliated. I hate her, and she is so full of herself. When she gets arrested in Mexico, when she washes out of the beauty pageant, when she is mistaken for a drag queen, when she gets tricked into foot porn. I love it when they make her cry, and for just a moment face the fact that she sucks.
You look like the Ronald McDonald, you bozo Peggy Hill.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 20, 2022 10:26 PM |
Where is your compassion, R31? Peggy is still a good person at heart. There’s no reason to hate her.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 20, 2022 10:54 PM |
One of my favorite episodes is where Peggy is arrogant about the National Boggle Championship because she's better at it than anyone in Arlen, and she's humiliated in her first match. But then after winning a match against the Boggle Playing Chicken, her confidence is restored and she goes to win the whole thing.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 20, 2022 11:10 PM |
My favorite episodes are when Bobby goes too far all into one of his activities, such as when after being bullied he takes the women's self-defense class ("I DON'T KNOW YOU! THAT'S MY PURSE!") and starts kicking all the boys at his school in the nuts in order to dominate them. Another is when he becomes a social justice warrior about Thanksgiving, which he calls "Thanks-taking."

How fares Gilbert Fontaine De la Tour D'Haute Rive?

by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 20, 2022 11:36 PM |
Rewatching a few months ago I was struck by just how milquetoast Dale's conspiracies are compared to the kiddie porn fanfic of qanon. Shit has gotten terrifying out there.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 20, 2022 11:40 PM |
One of my favourites is when Peggy becomes eligible for some kind of MENSA scam where they take everyone's money, but she refuses to believe it's a scam because she actually believes she is incredibly intelligent.

I love that both Hank and Peggy are equally flawed characters. Both are good people and have a functional marriage and home but still insufferable at times and shortsighted which drives a lot of the humor. Usually most sitcoms portray the husband as a hideous buffoon and the wife as exasperated, more intelligent and more beautiful. Both Hank and Peggy are plain-looking and boring suburb Texans who are driven by insecurities and get into mischief through their flaws.
Hank is stubborn, narrow-minded and a workaholic with an extreme aversion to change in his routine. He's regularly considered boring, dull and a stick in the mud by everyone. His father was abusive, cheated on his mother and insulted everything about Hank. So Hank became obsessed with not straying too far off the path in order to be the perfect son. Hank is also trusting and assumes everyone follows his code of morals and values. He projects this onto his coworkers, friends and his son Bobby. And is judgmental when they don't follow through but he never seems to grasp that they are not like him. Hank's obsession with routine, inability to relate to others and aversion to change makes him like he's on the spectrum.
Now, Peggy is self-absorbed and acts as if she's the most intelligent person in the room but it's all to hide her insecurities. She's obnoxious and annoying but does have good intentions. She's still a small town mother with a limited grasp of the world and her inflated ego is to compensate for her lack of sophistication. She also is right on certain things like women's rights and calling out the sexism of Hank's friends. She is also overbearing as a mother and tries to micromanage the life of Bobby and her niece Luann. Like Hank, she assumes people should follow her logic. Though unlike Hank, she's far more assertive and more likely to do extreme things to get what she wants. She usually does show remorse when she gets humiliated for her stupid actions. Like Hank, she had an abusive parent. Her mother was a narcissist who verbally abused her and was emotionally cold. Hence Peggy became obsessed with being perfect too.
I noticed Bob and Linda from Bob's Burgers have a similar dynamic. Dull, boring man who likes routine married to an outgoing, overdramatic woman who gets into mischief.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 21, 2022 2:05 AM |
The worst and most irredeemable characters in the show are Cotton Hill, Khan and Luann's parents. Cotton is an abusive husband and father, sexist and nasty person who hated everyone but only shows kindness to his Bobby and his second son (most likely because they resemble him). While Khan is racist, elitist, socially climbing asshole who regularly insults Hank and his neighbors as "stupid hillbillies" and is basically a male Karen. Luann's father was a criminal who lied to his daughter for years while Luann's mother was a drunken abusive whore who was jealous of her.
Peggy's no more flawed than Bill who is whiny and absolutely pathetic, Dale who is a conspiracy nut and manipulative, Boomhauer who is a manwhore, Nancy who is a cheater and liar and Minh who is stuckup and also racist. I would Peggy has more morals than they do though her overconfidence makes her obnoxious and causes woes for others.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 21, 2022 3:05 AM |
I still think of when Luanne became a “second virgin” and the Sunday school teacher made them pass around a chewed piece of gum for every sex partner.

First Nations actors should voice John Redcorn and Joseph Gribble. I nominate D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (from Reservation Dogs) for Joseph.

Jonathan Joss who voices John Redcorn is of indigenous descent.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 21, 2022 5:30 AM |
The show has already killed off Cotton...I think they'll be "realistic" and sadly kill off Luann (and not replace Brittany Murphy) and then put Luann's daughter Gracie into the Luann slot as a dingy teenager being raised by Hank & Peggy.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 21, 2022 5:34 AM |
They'd all be MAGAts, starting fights in public spaces over mask mandates and one by one dying of covid.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 21, 2022 5:35 AM |
"That's my purse! I don't know you!" We have had purse snatchings in the parking lot of Meijer grocer stores around here and we keep quoting Bobby. I would check out a new series out of curiosity.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 21, 2022 5:36 AM |
They don't need to kill Luanne off to not have her on the show. She and her daughter could not be getting along, maybe the daughter is a discipline problem and Luanne can't handle her and asks Peggy to take her in (which would be a great throwback to the Hills taking in Luanne), maybe even have Luanne move to London and stop speaking to Peggy because Peggy fired her as her publicist. There are all sorts of solutions for not having Luanne on.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 21, 2022 6:00 AM |
Or, there's a hot new Latinx employee at Strickland-Hill Propane named Che Diaz a non binary propane accessory salesperson who fingerfucks Luann at a Hill family backyard BBQ. Luanne loses her mind with the said finger fucking and she and Che run off to Cali.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 21, 2022 6:04 AM |
Later, Luann breaks up with Che when she discovers that Che has been molesting the Manger Babies.

If they’re smart, they’ll treat Trump like a bad dream and barely mention him or his sycophants. TV shows are forever and in the future most people won’t want to be reminded of this shit when we’re rewatching it.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 21, 2022 12:37 PM |
Bobby was not smarter than anyone. Joseph was a hormonal moron who couldn't figure Dale wasn't his father. Connie was the kid who was wise beyond her years and and she had to deal with strict Asian parents who controlled her life.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 21, 2022 2:19 PM |
Hell, even the lutefisk outsmarted Bobby.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 21, 2022 2:27 PM |
Even if you're not Southern. The characters and humor are pretty spot-on for Anytown, America just like the first ten seasons of The Simpsons. Every small town has a Dale, Bill, Peggy and others. Mike Judge previously did Beavis and Butt-head which while exaggerated was not too far off from the poor white trailer trash antics and the product of absentee parenting.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 21, 2022 7:42 PM |
It's Texas.
From Wikipedia Series synopsis King of the Hill is set in the fictional small town of Arlen, Texas. The show centers around the Hill family, headed by the ever-responsible, hard-working, loyal, disciplined, and honest propane salesman Hank Hill (voiced by Mike Judge).
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 21, 2022 9:45 PM |
Texas itself is not all that Southern when compared to Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi. It has it's own culture going on and even in King of the Hill, they show the diversity with Asian, Black and Hispanic characters and Hank himself is a reflection of an old white Texan having to adjust to the changes to the population. He's a far more sympathetic portrayal though. Most of Mike Judge's stuff is set in Texas or New Mexico where he grew up and lived for years.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 21, 2022 9:53 PM |
I'm from the Nebraska/Kansas border and the citizens of Arlen were VERY familiar to me.

Production of the first season of the revival is already underway at Hulu, but I don't know how far they got before the strike.
Johnny Hardwick, Lauren Tom, Stephen Root, and Pamela Adlon have all signed on. It is a real bummer that Hardwick died
In his honor, I leave my favorite line from any episode of King of the Hill, voiced by Johnny Hardwick as Dale Gribble:
This chorus is the feces that is created when shame eats too much stupidity
