My neighbors use their BBQ Grill every single night of the week

It's like a non-stop smell of burning wood and charcoal.

They are either always grilling steaks, or burgers, or honestly... I don't know what.

But they are out there every single day cooking on the grill.

WTF?

by Anonymousreply 41February 13, 2022 4:54 AM

Smoked meats are not good for you

by Anonymousreply 1February 12, 2022 7:12 PM

Ugh. Dog people.

by Anonymousreply 2February 12, 2022 7:13 PM

Are they cleaning the grill after each use? That could be adding to the smell. Can you gently hint that the smell is coming into your house every night?

by Anonymousreply 3February 12, 2022 7:13 PM

Well they wouldn’t be outside grilling if they lived here in the Midwest. It fucking 25 degrees here today. With flurries!

by Anonymousreply 4February 12, 2022 7:15 PM

But the bigger question is WHO cooks on the grill every night?

It's bizarre.

by Anonymousreply 5February 12, 2022 7:15 PM

Yum...make potato salad and invite yourself but byob. We cook out often in summer here because it keeps the kitchen from heating up

by Anonymousreply 6February 12, 2022 7:18 PM

It's February.

It usually means the occupants are POS. Probably giant homophobes.

by Anonymousreply 7February 12, 2022 7:19 PM

You’re small minded r7

by Anonymousreply 8February 12, 2022 7:23 PM

I grilled just last night. It was great weather. Too cold tonight though.temp just dropped 20.

by Anonymousreply 9February 12, 2022 7:25 PM

The only neighbors I've had who grilled all the time were Mexicans. If the smell of outdoor grilling offends you, you sound like you are the problem, not your neighbors.

by Anonymousreply 10February 12, 2022 7:25 PM

Sounds unhealthy to eat red, barbecued meat every night. I see cancer and cardiovascular diseases in their future.

by Anonymousreply 11February 12, 2022 7:54 PM

Where do you live. Love me some 'Q'..Ummm

Mexicans grill goats!

Bhaaaaa! 🤢

by Anonymousreply 13February 12, 2022 8:22 PM

So do many, many other cultures. No family picnic was complete without taking the goat on the lead to the picnic spot. slitting its thread there, some prep. then boom onto the grill.

Ah good times.

It's the same at my place, but I do like the smell. And yet, for some reason, I eat less meat these days. It's almost like smelling it is enough for me, don't have to eat and taste it.

by Anonymousreply 15February 12, 2022 8:28 PM

I had a neighbor years ago who did this, too. Sure enough, colorectal cancer and gone within a few years. People should know better by now.

by Anonymousreply 16February 12, 2022 8:39 PM

[quote]If the smell of outdoor grilling offends you, you sound like you are the problem, not your neighbors.

R10, if the topic of a thread offends you, you sound like you are the problem, not the OP. - Was the insipid, priss-pot irony of your reply completely lost on you?

OP - I totally get being sick of that. And it's one of those things that would be hard to adjudicate. They aren't going to stop doing it, even if they're nice. The cops can't do anything about it, not really. You could give them three notices and then sue them in small claims court, but that won't go anywhere. But "little" problems like these can be tormenting. If these folks are next door, maybe invest in a large outdoor stand fan that can come on and help keep the smoke away. You could even get a remote outlet adaptor off Amazon so you don't even have to go out there, just hit a button. But then of course, ya got a big ol fan running or blocking your door. Maybe just figuring out what time they begin and starting to close all doors and windows at that point of the day. It's pretty much all you can do. Unless, of course, you want to turn the heat up a bit. In that case, I suggest an ample smoker or a BBQ grill that smokes. They're easy to pick up on. Get yourself some cheap cuts of beef and fire it up each morning or during times when you know they have their windows open. MAYBE, they'll get the message. Fire with fire and all that...

by Anonymousreply 17February 12, 2022 8:41 PM

Get over yourself, R16. My mother died of cancer in her 60s. She was a vegetarian/vegan who didn't smoke and rarely drank alcohol, and fit/normal body weight her entire life. Just shut up.

by Anonymousreply 18February 12, 2022 8:41 PM

I use my grill a lot, but it isn't always meat. Grilled vegetables are just so damned delicious. Plus I can cook side dishes on the side burner.

I'd rather cook outside when the weather is hot or if the food is going to be smelly or smoky.

by Anonymousreply 19February 12, 2022 8:56 PM

You need to work on your anger issues, r18; r16 didn't say that [italic]all[/italic] cancer is caused by eating grilled meat. But you knew that, didn't you?

by Anonymousreply 20February 12, 2022 8:59 PM

Grilled asparagus is great.

by Anonymousreply 21February 12, 2022 9:06 PM

you did kinda, r20.

by Anonymousreply 22February 12, 2022 10:12 PM

If it makes you feel better, they’ll likely die of cancer.

by Anonymousreply 23February 12, 2022 10:14 PM

not healthy, but it shouldn't really be offending you.

by Anonymousreply 24February 12, 2022 10:32 PM

For nine years I lived next door to a man who used his barbecue almost every night. Extreme weather didn't bother him, he was outside all the time anyway to smoke cigarettes. He looked quite unhealthy but enjoyed himself.

by Anonymousreply 25February 12, 2022 10:37 PM

grilled baby is delicious.

by Anonymousreply 26February 12, 2022 10:41 PM

People are increasingly dying of things like lung cancer due to environmental pollutants. You can do everything right your whole life. It might not matter .

by Anonymousreply 27February 12, 2022 10:55 PM

It’s a very American thing to imagine that it’s bad to cook outside in winter. That’s a consequence of American sloth and laziness. Europeans love being outside in winter.

by Anonymousreply 28February 12, 2022 10:58 PM

Could you talk to your neighbor about where the grill is located and redirecting the smoke? Otherwise, close the windows and keep an air purifier running on high.

by Anonymousreply 29February 12, 2022 10:58 PM

American sloth and laziness? Right. Who gets a vacation for an entire month? Not Americans. Go fuck yourself bitch.

by Anonymousreply 30February 12, 2022 11:00 PM

It's a straight man (he may still let you suck him off) thing. And a way to get away from the nagging frau and crotchfruit.

by Anonymousreply 31February 12, 2022 11:02 PM

This thread is making me crave vegan food.

by Anonymousreply 32February 12, 2022 11:04 PM

r15 I feel the same way about coffee

by Anonymousreply 33February 12, 2022 11:07 PM

Why are they grilling outside every night in the winter for fuck's sake? Heat up your house by cooking inside and turn down the thermostat.

I've got power drills going every day. The DIY neighbors are the worst.

by Anonymousreply 34February 12, 2022 11:12 PM

Obese housecows and their houseoafs love grilling.

by Anonymousreply 35February 12, 2022 11:24 PM

At least they are not burning trash, branches, and random shit like Halloween pumpkins in their backyard like the people next door to me.

by Anonymousreply 36February 12, 2022 11:29 PM

Do they look like this, OP? And are your neighbors disappearing one by one?

by Anonymousreply 37February 12, 2022 11:38 PM

You sound like a real Gladys Kravitz, op.

by Anonymousreply 38February 13, 2022 2:25 AM

Rofl R36!!

Do you live in Kentucky? West Virginia?

by Anonymousreply 39February 13, 2022 2:58 AM

Outer Redneckia, Maryland R39. My work is in one of the more "posh" counties and I had to go about 25 miles out to find a house I could afford. That was 20 years ago and prices have probably more than doubled now.

by Anonymousreply 40February 13, 2022 3:34 AM

And probably they are also against and afraid of getting the Covid vaccines. 🤷‍♂️ 🙄🤔
