I have a Hamilton Beach blender and used it for several years, but even for my smoothies it was not great to deal with celery and kale unless I cut up the stalks quite a bit. So...I got a Kitchen Aid food processor. I use it occassionally for bigger portions, but for daily smoothies, or even whipping up hummus or something, I find it too big. And also for doing things like finely chopped chimichurri or salsa, it just purees/frappes the shit out of it, and is not the tiny niblets of ingredients that I want. So...a few weeks ago I got a 3.5 cup Kitchen Aid mini food processor. I find the size for daily smoothies and weekly hummus or other bean dips really great. It still more puree/frappe though and does not doing that fine, tiny dice that I would like to get for delicate salsas. Anyhow, I am def. keeping the full size and 3.5 c. food processors, but need advice whether I should keep the blender. Is it worth taking up the space in cupboard for 1-2 times per yr margaritas?
I also have my immersion blender for zipping soups right in the pot on the stove, etc. I will never surrender my immersion blender!

BTW, they advertise this Kitchen Aid 3.5 c. as a chopper, but it is not at all this. In 10 secs it is well on it's way to puree/frappe with no nice dice/chunks in between. No way to control it, as there are only 2 settings. Whip or Whip the Shit outta whatever. Still, it is compact and easy to clean. And no need to make portions of 12! OK - I will stop, but hoping for some advice re: blender - and also if I should invest in something else for nice tiny dice result.
