Hahahahaha. Serves him right.

That's fantastic. Never be afraid to call out a dangerous billionaire fascist, and yes, he is one.

by Anonymousreply 1February 11, 2022 6:35 PM

I love Jan Böhmermann…although his one and only US talk show appearance with Seth Myers was pretty cringey. He’s considered the German version of John Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 2February 11, 2022 6:39 PM

He's amazing.

Jan Böhmermann, that is.

Peter Thiel is, well, ahem ... well, he isn't amazing at all.

by Anonymousreply 3February 11, 2022 6:45 PM

OMG, they'll have a Peter Thiel special on tonight's show. Which means it will be available on youtube in about three hours from now, I'll post the link as soon as possible.

by Anonymousreply 4February 11, 2022 6:47 PM

So Germans think he's an asshole, too?

by Anonymousreply 5February 11, 2022 6:47 PM

Europeans who aren't in lovev with Trump etc hate this guy, too, yes.

by Anonymousreply 6February 11, 2022 6:50 PM

Staggering use of Bond iconography. The swastika made of gilt muscle boys (in discobolus pose via Arno Breker) should get a prize all by itself.

by Anonymousreply 7February 11, 2022 6:50 PM

That show always comes up with that brilliant stuff.

I hope the youtube version of tonight's special will be subtitled so you will be able to get what Jan talks about.

by Anonymousreply 8February 11, 2022 6:57 PM

This one deserves billions of views.

by Anonymousreply 9February 11, 2022 7:38 PM

Tonight's show's Peter Thiel special.

With English subtitles, hehe.

Enjoy, my dear Ami friends.

Bump.

by Anonymousreply 11February 12, 2022 9:27 AM

Some people here in Europe do know who fucking Peter Thiel is, but not that many are aware of his meddling in US politics and his Alt-Right stance. I hope this will change now thanks to dear Böhmi and his team. <3

by Anonymousreply 12February 12, 2022 9:30 AM

The host was magnanimous for not alluding to the chilli dog rumors that are currently rampant on the other Peter Thiel thread.

by Anonymousreply 13February 12, 2022 6:19 PM

R13, oh no, I didn't notice there was already a Thiel-related thread. If so, I would've posted the vid in that thread. I'm worse than Hitler and Peter Thiel.

by Anonymousreply 14February 12, 2022 9:49 PM

Not at all, R14—the video deserves its own special venue. The more mockery of Peter Thiel, the better!

by Anonymousreply 15February 12, 2022 9:51 PM

Jan Böhmermann = John Oliver (expert talker about people in other countries)

by Anonymousreply 16February 12, 2022 9:56 PM

One comment on youtube:

The pictures in "german affection for natural selection" intentionally just miss a few too many right angles. The ambiguity is brilliantly staged, Leni would be jealous. Although, Thiel is not only made of steel*, but of Riefenstahl.

*steel = in German "Stahl"

by Anonymousreply 17February 12, 2022 9:58 PM

R16, well no, because Böhmermann does great investigating stuff regarding Germany, too. Last week, he did a great piece about the abysmal state of mental health service in Germany, disclosing that German public health providers earn a fucking lot of money with dubious "mental health" apps.

by Anonymousreply 18February 12, 2022 10:04 PM

Sick thing is, he'd probably love that video and take it as a (Riefenstahlesque, as R17 says) panegyric.

by Anonymousreply 19February 12, 2022 10:09 PM

Is Thiel a narc? If so, he probably jerks off to that video.

Anyway, thanks to Böhmermann, he's getting exposed in Europe. So even if Peter jerks off to that video and its hot bodybuilders, he won't like the special dedicated to him preceding the music video. See R10 for it (English subs available).

by Anonymousreply 20February 12, 2022 10:14 PM

That was great and terrifying. Thanks, OP.

by Anonymousreply 21February 13, 2022 2:55 AM

Bohmermann reminds me of Jon Stewart and John Oliver.

by Anonymousreply 22February 13, 2022 2:56 AM

R22, see R16.

by Anonymousreply 23February 13, 2022 3:05 AM

OP, what else has this Famous German TV host done?

by Anonymousreply 24February 13, 2022 8:37 PM

Quite a lot. A couple of things are covered here.

[quote] During the 12 May 2016 episode of Neo Magazin Royale, host Jan Böhmermann introduced the hashtag #verafake and announced that Robin, a 21-year old contestant featured in the 10 April 2016 broadcast of Schwiegertochter gesucht, was actually a 30-year-old actor named Simon Steinhorst. His supposed 38-year old father René was played by 55-year-old actor Andreas Schneider.[1] The Neo Magazin Royale team had rented an apartment in Duisburg and furnished it to match the contestant's backstory. Their report included hidden camera footage of the production company at work and revealed that the contestant gets an allowance of 150 euros for 10 to 30 days of shooting, while noting that RTL earns up to 90,000 euros per minute during commercial breaks during broadcast of the program. Additionally, candidates are obligated to sign an affidavit that they are in full possession of their mental faculties. Although the supposed father character René claimed on-camera that he drank eight bottles of beer a day, he claimed in a questionnaire he did not consume alcohol. Contestants did not receive copies of the signed contract until after the episode was broadcast.

When asked by the media magazine DWDL.de about the report, RTL spokesman Christian Körner said it was necessary first to examine the broadcast sequence and consult with the producers before making public comment.[2] RTL then removed the episode featuring the fake contestants from its library of available shows.[3] At the same time they denied part of the allegations, arguing that the contract had been repeatedly sent to the contestant's known address but had not been signed for, and that the 150 euro allowance corresponded to the monthly basic allowance for persons receiving unemployment benefits.[4] Later RTL conceded that "errors in editorial diligence were made" and announced that the production team for the current season would be replaced.[5]

As a result of the revelations, the Lower Saxony State Media Authority (NLM) launched an investigation. NLM Director Andreas Fischer criticized "the way the production company negotiates contracts with the contestants and badgers them, which is reminiscent of door-to-door salespeople." The NLM officially requested copies of the contracts sent by the production company Warner Bros. International Television Production Germany to contestants.[6]

"You've made Robin and his father even dumber than we intended. And that's saying something. You've cast them as the ultimate idiots." - Jan Böhmermann: Neo Magazine Royale[7]
