Anderson's had another baby

He's currently leading with it on his show.

He's the Chris Cuomo.

Puke.

by Anonymousreply 344February 16, 2022 3:06 AM

The new Chris Cuomo... all about me, me, me....

by Anonymousreply 1February 11, 2022 12:06 AM

Remember when he wouldn't come out of the closet because it was "too personal"? That bringing his personal life into public view would detract from his status as a reliable news source?

by Anonymousreply 2February 11, 2022 12:08 AM

Well he's out now. Maybe he'll do a semi-Katie Couric and broadcast his next prostate exam. On Only Fans.

by Anonymousreply 3February 11, 2022 12:09 AM

It’s nice (for him) that he’s had another child, but this isn’t a leading news story. This is something you might bring up at the end of the hour.

I liked him a lot better when he was more low-key. I lost a lot of respect for him after the Kathy Griffen episode.

by Anonymousreply 4February 11, 2022 12:12 AM

He's such a hunk.

I envy the woman he keeps humping and getting pregnant. I wonder if he's in love with her?

by Anonymousreply 5February 11, 2022 12:12 AM

^. Genuine LOL. But you forgot to sign, Cheryl.

by Anonymousreply 6February 11, 2022 12:16 AM

Butt babies don’t live

by Anonymousreply 7February 11, 2022 12:18 AM

Was it a C-section or a natural birth for him?

by Anonymousreply 8February 11, 2022 12:19 AM

He wanted to get it out there himself before anyone else. Two minutes at the start of the show, and then handed it over to John Berman. Get over it.

by Anonymousreply 9February 11, 2022 12:19 AM

Maybe David Muir will have a surrogate baby too!

by Anonymousreply 10February 11, 2022 12:19 AM

I guess Andy Cohen has to get another prop baby now too.

by Anonymousreply 11February 11, 2022 12:20 AM

Doesn't that hunk Maisani get to make one too, with his superior sperm?

by Anonymousreply 12February 11, 2022 12:21 AM

^Well, his name is Sebastian Maisani-Cooper. Isn't that enough? I paid for it.

by Anonymousreply 13February 11, 2022 12:26 AM

Is this Benjamin’s Baby?

by Anonymousreply 14February 11, 2022 12:31 AM

He's spreading his seed all over town!

by Anonymousreply 15February 11, 2022 12:36 AM

[quote]I lost a lot of respect for him after the Kathy Griffen episode.

Oh give it a fucking rest already with this stupid shit.

by Anonymousreply 16February 11, 2022 12:42 AM

Oh, good. Now #1 will have somebody to go to therapy with.

by Anonymousreply 17February 11, 2022 12:51 AM

R4 Kathy Griffin was making $80,000 for one nights work, she went into the bosses office ten days before NYE demanding more money. Zucker canned her ass, she came back begging for her job back and Zucker let her have it back at $60,000. Now you wanted Anderson to fall on a sword for her after all that plus the blood dripping head thing. Zucker would have fired his ass also.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 18February 11, 2022 12:52 AM

^Hmm, how much money did AC and the other male co-hosts make for the NYE special? If they made significantly more money than the female co-host, she was right to ask for more money.

by Anonymousreply 19February 11, 2022 12:56 AM

Does he want a spare in case the first one jumps?

by Anonymousreply 20February 11, 2022 1:00 AM

so he and Ben are still broken up but co-parenting and now introducing another fucking baby? Bizarre

by Anonymousreply 21February 11, 2022 1:02 AM

His figure is now ruined forever.

by Anonymousreply 22February 11, 2022 1:02 AM

People tuned into NYE because of Kathy and Anderson. She deserved a raise.

But I'm sick of Anderson. And I agree with r4, his treatment of Kathy only made me dislike him more.

by Anonymousreply 23February 11, 2022 1:03 AM

is he going to be celibate now or he'll co-parent with Ben while both are banging other guys on the side?

by Anonymousreply 24February 11, 2022 1:08 AM

That's a good idea, actually. Anderson may not be around when the kids are in their 30s, given his current age and the family history of heart problems. At least the kids would have each other in that case. Also, Anderson was close to his brother so I can see him wanting to give his own offspring that experience.

by Anonymousreply 25February 11, 2022 1:23 AM

It's nice that he was able to create a two-parent family for his kids. Just because they didn't work out romantically doesn't mean they can't be good co-parents.

by Anonymousreply 26February 11, 2022 1:24 AM

*waits for Don and his younger fiance to have babies*

by Anonymousreply 27February 11, 2022 2:02 AM

Anderson is 54 years old, he will be 72 when the kid turns 18, I am 70 now and I can't even imagine. Of course there will be nannies but still.

by Anonymousreply 28February 11, 2022 2:03 AM

He and Ben may not be in a "romance" any longer but I find hard to believe that they're not still fucking.

by Anonymousreply 29February 11, 2022 2:05 AM

Look at that photo at r18. I can't decide which of the two of them is more hideous.

by Anonymousreply 30February 11, 2022 2:05 AM

[quote] Hmm, how much money did AC and the other male co-hosts make for the NYE special? If they made significantly more money than the female co-host, she was right to ask for more money.

We don't know how much other people were making, but Kathy's pitch was that she was doing more preparation for NYE than Anderson was doing, which to me is her throwing Anderson under the bus. Her pitch wasn't that she was being paid less, but that she was doing more work. if she was making less I am sure she would have used that pitch also.

by Anonymousreply 31February 11, 2022 2:09 AM

is it true that Gloria didn't leave him inheritance and he's not planning on leaving his kids anything?

by Anonymousreply 32February 11, 2022 2:14 AM

according to probate documents obtained by Page Six, Cooper ultimately received a little under $1.5 million from his mother's estate.

by Anonymousreply 33February 11, 2022 2:15 AM

Oh for chrissakes. This story has ZERO to do with Kathy or Andy Cohen, and Gloria did not die super rich. Anderson has 100x the money Gloria had.

DONT ANY OF YOU READ NEWSPAPERS?

by Anonymousreply 34February 11, 2022 2:16 AM

I think well-off gays having surrogate babies is kind of gross.

by Anonymousreply 35February 11, 2022 2:23 AM

His sperm is kind of old. I mean not ancient but its not young man fresh.

by Anonymousreply 36February 11, 2022 2:37 AM

r36 He might have banked in when he was younger. I hope so.

Anderson is aging like milk. Ugh.

by Anonymousreply 37February 11, 2022 2:40 AM

Is this like a Jack Mackenroth 'poop out a plastic babby from the butthole' sort of thingy?

by Anonymousreply 38February 11, 2022 2:42 AM

I mean, good for him.

I'm a wee confused as to why his ex is co parenting but if it works for them, good for them.

by Anonymousreply 39February 11, 2022 2:44 AM

is Ben on Anderson's payroll?

how are his bars and clubs doing?

by Anonymousreply 40February 11, 2022 2:44 AM

Does anyone imagine Anderson having a tightly-wrinkled, ivory-colored ballsac dusted with soft white hairs?

by Anonymousreply 41February 11, 2022 2:45 AM

Anderson needs to get some biotin in his diet.

by Anonymousreply 42February 11, 2022 2:48 AM

If he keeps having babies at this rate he'll ruin his girlish figure.

by Anonymousreply 43February 11, 2022 2:50 AM

I recall the gossip and "first hand" reports: Anderson a bottom with a average noodly dick, Ben a top with bull cock and balls.

by Anonymousreply 44February 11, 2022 2:52 AM

[quote] bull cock and balls.

Mama's mussy is hissing like a tea kettle!

by Anonymousreply 45February 11, 2022 3:47 AM

[quote]I think well-off gays having surrogate babies is kind of gross.

Babies are the new French bulldogs among the A-list gays.

by Anonymousreply 46February 11, 2022 3:51 AM

There was a steady stream of gossip about Ben during his bar owner / bartender glory days. STUD.

by Anonymousreply 47February 11, 2022 3:51 AM

Then those two had that fuck house down in Brazil. They must have got a lot of fucking out of their system 35-45. If they want to concentrate on being daddies now, why not? Its a sexless marriage, it seems to me. No marriage, no sex, but they are "best friends" and co parenting so it seems like a marriage. I wonder what happens if Ben falls in love with one of his lovers. Or if he's even fucking much at all.

by Anonymousreply 48February 11, 2022 3:54 AM

The one thing I'd like to hear Cooper do his TMI routint about is the inner/outer/extracurricular workings of him and the bartender. That's one modern family....

by Anonymousreply 49February 11, 2022 4:00 AM

I need Ben inside me quite deeply.

by Anonymousreply 50February 11, 2022 4:00 AM

His vag is really stretched out...

by Anonymousreply 51February 11, 2022 4:09 AM

[quote] He wanted to get it out there himself before anyone else. Two minutes at the start of the show, and then handed it over to John Berman. Get over it.

If a woman had started a broadcast with news that she had just given birth, etc., that would seem unprofessional and a lot of ppl would say: "So what, bitch?"

by Anonymousreply 52February 11, 2022 4:17 AM

He broke up with Ben because Ben didn't want children.............now they are raising two but not together as a couple? Is that right?

by Anonymousreply 53February 11, 2022 4:35 AM

I never heard the part about Ben not wanting children. I don't recall any gossip purporting to tell why they broke up. They were in an open relationship. Cooper had some liaisons with twinkies around the break up that got some gossip but then its been silence radio since. Cooper is reported to lead a lifestyle of rigid routines.

by Anonymousreply 54February 11, 2022 4:40 AM

Wealthy men in their mid-50s buying babies seems a bit gross to me but go for it. I’m sure Andy Cohen has another baby cooking in some white woman as we speak.

Hopefully neither one of these two runs and jumps out a window :(

by Anonymousreply 55February 11, 2022 9:28 AM

Is it a boy or girl?

by Anonymousreply 56February 11, 2022 10:46 AM

Its not Latino babies right? If they are he’s probably raising a brothel for himself.

by Anonymousreply 57February 11, 2022 11:35 AM

I'm tired of stories about upper class gays buying babies.

Also the open relationship part is just gross.

by Anonymousreply 58February 11, 2022 11:49 AM

Congratulations to both Anderson and Ben, I am sure they are wonderful parents.

by Anonymousreply 59February 11, 2022 11:52 AM

Shallow, vapid fraud. The veneer of the serious journalist is now in tatters at his feet and the trivial attention-seeker is there for all to see.

The sheer egocentricity of thinking that the children's irregular living situation - with the dads who aren't a couple and who-knows-what relationship or access to their mother(s) - can be compensated for because he, Anderson, is just so goddamn special.

Yes, the kids will have plenty of money, opportunities, connections and that's all very enviable but I don't envy them the issues which seem to me to be inevitable.

by Anonymousreply 60February 11, 2022 12:00 PM

I don't know about Anderson, R48, but there's no doubt in my mind that Ben is, and will remain, a sex fiend. There is a lot of aggressive sexual energy in that face - and Momma likey!

by Anonymousreply 61February 11, 2022 12:01 PM

R34, the fact remains that Anderson DID inherit money from his mother despite his BS claims to the contrary before her death. $1.5 million is not to be scoffed at! In any case, what money he already had in his own right would have been totally impossible without the connections she gave him. He is an uncharismatic butterface.

by Anonymousreply 62February 11, 2022 12:07 PM

The best eggs that money can be, R63.

by Anonymousreply 64February 11, 2022 12:12 PM

Sadly, I've lost respect for him a long time ago. I wish CNN would shit can him too.

by Anonymousreply 65February 11, 2022 12:15 PM

He really is being selfish. His dad died young and he’s been public with having high cholesterol since his 30’s. He’ll be lucky if he’s around to see the kids graduate.

by Anonymousreply 66February 11, 2022 12:15 PM

R63. Oh puke. How utterly trite and frauish.

by Anonymousreply 67February 11, 2022 12:21 PM

Baby schmaby! I want to see AC flex those guns and show off his big chest!

by Anonymousreply 68February 11, 2022 12:32 PM

R68, the Anderson of 10-15 years ago is long gone.

by Anonymousreply 69February 11, 2022 12:33 PM

I am surprised Anderson has not had an auction of his Mom's possessions, she had a lot of stuff filling many storage units. In regard to the money she left, I do believe Anderson bankrolled her for the last 15-20 years of her life, so get should get it.

Now, regarding Anderson's announcement.....read the f-ing room. Your boss was just terminated in a public and embarrassing manner. The new management has publicly, and endlessly said they want a news organization again. Interestingly I follow many CNN people on Instagram and they did not even "like" his cringeworthy picture. I can see Anderson playing this up for good publicity....but internally ut won't work.

Everything about this is so performative and narcissistic.

by Anonymousreply 70February 11, 2022 12:49 PM

For a guy who wouldn't come out - in New York City - he's sure gone to the opposite extreme.

Though I give him credit, if he's going to use the kid as a prop he at least went whole hog and showed the kid (and his brother.) Not like this annoying and coy trend of showing an elbow here or a happy family presidential ambition there. That's as cynical as AC is performative. If you're going to use your kid as a prop, own it. If your privacy is so important, don't go there.

by Anonymousreply 71February 11, 2022 12:52 PM

This must mean Andy Cohen has another bun in the oven. Stay tuned

by Anonymousreply 72February 11, 2022 1:04 PM

Anderson Cooper has a net worth of $200 million plus his salary is $1 million PER MONTH.

It's easy enough to pay for a surrogate and pay for servants to raise your kid(s) when you're RICH.

by Anonymousreply 73February 11, 2022 1:06 PM

Wow, how greedy and self-centered can one gay man be? Purchasing another baby when the other is still an infant? Raising them as a single parent? I hope this is not like a shopping addiction to Anderson. Babies aren't objects to buy...Not to mention the nerve he has to continue exploiting the bodies of women for his selfish wishes.....

by Anonymousreply 74February 11, 2022 1:10 PM

R73 Just because you can doesn't mean you should....

by Anonymousreply 75February 11, 2022 1:11 PM

The ony good thing about this as last night's lead: The One Million Moms will have a conniption fit.

by Anonymousreply 76February 11, 2022 1:13 PM

Is Andy Cohen jealous he doesn’t have a “PAPA” for Ben?

by Anonymousreply 77February 11, 2022 1:16 PM

Do we know the gender of this new baby? I bet he ordered a girl to complete his bourgeois fantasy of family. I hope he stops at this point.

And this new baby will land him another cover, right? Cause it wouldn't be fair if the first one gets a cover and the second one doesn't.....

by Anonymousreply 78February 11, 2022 1:20 PM

He said last night it's another boy.

by Anonymousreply 79February 11, 2022 1:21 PM

Anderson was late to get on the celeb gay dad train. I used to wonder what was wrong with him. Now he’s one-upped his pal Andy Cohen. I expect an announcement from Andy any day. Anyway it’s good his kid will have a sibling. I’m the same age as Anderson, and no way in hell would I want to be raising a toddler and an infant at this late stage. I don’t have a staff though. Congrats.

by Anonymousreply 80February 11, 2022 1:22 PM

A serious news organization does not lead the 8 pm hour with announcements suitable for the bulletin board in the lunch room. Tacky, needy and clueless. Should have happened on Twitter or Insta.

by Anonymousreply 81February 11, 2022 1:23 PM

Serious news people never make themselves the story.

by Anonymousreply 82February 11, 2022 1:26 PM

What has he done to any of you to spark such hatred, green with envy doesn't look good on any of you.

by Anonymousreply 83February 11, 2022 1:27 PM

Oh come on, there are millions of straight couples and singles having babies but have no business being parents. Both of these boys will have the benefit of the best care and education that money can buy and right now clearly a lot of love from two parents. There are millions of children being raised by siblings while their single mother has to work, there are millions being raised by step parents who really don't love them and abuse them. I know we love to trash pretty much all celebrities and while I would never do this regardless of how much money I had these children will have a great life with every advantage possible.

by Anonymousreply 84February 11, 2022 1:28 PM

Calling a vain TV star on peacocking is hardly manifest hatred or envy, R83, and certainly fart catching looks a lot worse. Try some fresh air instead.

by Anonymousreply 85February 11, 2022 1:29 PM

I am so confused. Does Ben live with them?

by Anonymousreply 86February 11, 2022 1:29 PM

Maybe Anderson will go full Alec Baldwin, and this is just the beginning.

by Anonymousreply 87February 11, 2022 1:30 PM

He likely led with that news because CNN is under fire, and anything that could generate positive press will and can be used.

by Anonymousreply 88February 11, 2022 1:30 PM

[quote]What has he done to any of you to spark such hatred, green with envy doesn't look good on any of you.

What does that have to do with him starting off a news show with this information? Send out baby announcements or go to People magazine like everyone else. I just hope this baby is better looking than the last one. The first one if UGLY.

by Anonymousreply 89February 11, 2022 1:32 PM

The ultra wealthy gays who special order these babies must always choose eggs from blond blue-eyed women. Look at the kids of Matt Bomer and the ones belonging to Ryan Murphy - completely aryan little things. Even Anderson’s older kid has those huge blue eyes and a very fair complexion.

Not criticizing - it just tickles me how none of these fancy gaybies look anything less than completely Scandinavian. I guess if you’re ordering a kid - that’s the ideal look.

Exception is Andy Cohen - who probably also ordered some Swedish model’s eggs but got a brunette little boy. Maybe the next baby will be blond and he can also live the dream.

by Anonymousreply 90February 11, 2022 1:34 PM

It's his show you ignorant twat (89), he can start the show any way he wants. s

by Anonymousreply 91February 11, 2022 1:36 PM

R83 Are you new to the DL, home of pointless bitchery, sweetheart?

by Anonymousreply 92February 11, 2022 1:37 PM

@r83, "green with envy doesn't look good on any of you. "

Jealous? You bet, Anderson Cooper is living a great life that any of us would envy. Rich, still good-looking, prestigious pedigree, great job, what's not to envy?... Oh, his best friend is this asshole

by Anonymousreply 95February 11, 2022 1:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 97February 11, 2022 1:43 PM

Ellen made the right choice not having children. I think we’d have another Mommy Dearest memoir in the future if she did, so it’s kind of a shame we won’t get one.

by Anonymousreply 98February 11, 2022 1:43 PM

Who the hell does this dame think she is?

by Anonymousreply 99February 11, 2022 1:44 PM

[Quote]Sadly, I've lost respect for him a long time ago. I wish CNN would shit can him too.

CNN's primetime ratings are atrocious. Even some of the afternoon shows have higher ratings. Sadly, Fox News shows often have 6x the viewership of CNN shows. I bet they fired Zucker bc he turned CNN into an entertainment channel and the ratings are tanking since Biden does not offer the same media spectacle anymore. I think new leadership has to make some drastic changes soon.

by Anonymousreply 100February 11, 2022 1:44 PM

In fairness, the ratio of mildly intelligent to Fox viewers is also about 1:6.

by Anonymousreply 101February 11, 2022 1:45 PM

R100 = DJT

by Anonymousreply 102February 11, 2022 1:46 PM

This smelt like the kind of schmaltz Zucker would have loved. He was an entertainment producer, but that's OK, because CNN's really talk radio on TV now. Honestly, a nation waits for a plume of pink or blue smoke at the top of the eight o'clock hour? Ridiculous. I bet Jake Tapper overdosed on Nexium.

by Anonymousreply 103February 11, 2022 1:47 PM

Poor CNN

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 104February 11, 2022 1:53 PM

[Quote][R100] = DJT

It's really not that hard to look at their ratings and see that they have a serious viewership/ratings problem. Anderson Cooper's show often only has 500-600k viewers while Fox News primetime shows have 3.5 million. Other hosts not doing much better. Even Rachel Maddow's ratings dropped to only ~1.5 million.

by Anonymousreply 105February 11, 2022 1:56 PM

I have no understanding of Fox, by design. So is Fox News an over the air channel or a cable channel? It doesn't surprise me it's dominant, given what it sells and who it sells it to. It vaguely surprises me they'd pay cable for it though. Imagine the choice the choice between paying for a big bottle of Pepsi or paying for Fox?

by Anonymousreply 106February 11, 2022 2:01 PM

Nicole, Ari, Joy, and Chris all pull bigger numbers than Anderson.

by Anonymousreply 107February 11, 2022 2:02 PM

The more I think about it, him collecting kids does make sense. In a fairer world, his parents wouldn’t have had him late in their lives, his dad wouldn’t have died relatively young, and his brother would be alive and the father to Anderson’s nieces and nephews. He’s all alone…or was.

by Anonymousreply 108February 11, 2022 2:06 PM

I still find it odd he waited until his mom died to finally have kids. She was pestering him for a grandchild a long while..

by Anonymousreply 109February 11, 2022 2:06 PM

R109 Fair enough but I doubt buying babies to cure your mental traumas is the solution.....

by Anonymousreply 110February 11, 2022 2:08 PM

Fox News is not offered over the air. What I'm guessing is that Fox News is offered at a reduced rate on multiple platforms. When I got Verizon Fios, I learned that Fox News was offered in every package, but I had to upgrade packages if I wanted CNN or MSNBC. I eventually cut the cord, but I found it interesting that both Fox and Newsmax were always available, but CNN and MSNBC were not always readily available.

I don't know if that is unique to me, but my guess would be that it's not.

by Anonymousreply 111February 11, 2022 2:11 PM

by Anonymousreply 117February 11, 2022 2:26 PM

I doubt that.

by Anonymousreply 118February 11, 2022 2:29 PM

I réalise many gay men use their own sperm with the surrogates but this "having, had" a baby lexis sticks in my craw. Its even bugs me a bit with rich straight couple use a surrogate and they say "we're having / we had" a baby.

For that matter I never loved it when usage changed to allow straight men with women who push out babies saying "we're having a baby".

I'm 60. When I was a boy - the WOMAN HAD THE BABIES. And this seems to be a correct use of the vocabulary.

Get off my lawn, too.

by Anonymousreply 119February 11, 2022 2:43 PM

$60-80,000 doesn't seem like that much for Kathy G's NYE gig. I'm sure Anderson & Andy got paid way more.

by Anonymousreply 124February 11, 2022 4:43 PM

[quote]The more I think about it, him collecting kids does make sense. In a fairer world, his parents wouldn’t have had him late in their lives, his dad wouldn’t have died relatively young, and his brother would be alive and the father to Anderson’s nieces and nephews. He’s all alone…or was.

He didn't solve his problem. He passed the buck. He went to great lengths to create two people who will one day be in the exact position he was in. Their bio dad has a family history of health issues, and they are likely to lose their bio dad at a young age (just like Anderson). Anderson had another parent who picked up the slack after his father died. That's why he needs Ben to hang around. Because he's expecting to be around until the kids reach their late teens or early 20s, and then they will still need someone to take care of them. The kids each have a brother, but we know how that turned out for Anderson.

by Anonymousreply 125February 11, 2022 5:11 PM

R125 If I were one of Anderson’s surrogated kids, it would rub me the wrong way that dad only ordered me after dad’s best friend ordered in infant for himself. Like I was part of a fashion trend or something.

by Anonymousreply 126February 11, 2022 5:16 PM

Imagine. A rich man wants kids, but he doesn't want to put his penis inside a vagina. A young woman (must be college educated and MUST be attractive) desperately needs money to pay off her college loan debt, so she sells (er, "donates") her eggs. The sperm and egg--which came from two people who have never met, and who would never even want to touch each other if they did meet--are combined in a lab. Then someone else needs to carry the embryo. Can use the bio egg donor, because she might then become attached. So it has to be a third party. Luckily, there's some woman out there who needs $100,000 and loves the attention she gets from strangers when she walks around pregnant. The rich man waits for his eggs to hatch. Everyone's happy.

by Anonymousreply 127February 11, 2022 5:18 PM

Being gay used to mean that no one bothered you about having children. Now almost every gay celebrity has ordered a baby and joined the masses of breeders. I am sure some of them genuinely want children, but seems like an accessory for most. Which is just like the straights behave so whatever.

Of course Anderson ordered two babies. He’s wealthy and his entire family is dead. Why wouldn’t he buy some tiny companions and hire nannies to handle the tedious parts of dealing with them.

by Anonymousreply 128February 11, 2022 5:19 PM

R127 Sounds good to me

by Anonymousreply 129February 11, 2022 5:22 PM

I saw an article about a straight couple. The woman was highly intelligent, and she wanted her baby to be a genius. But...I guess she didn't think her husband was smart enough. So she got him to agree that they would use a sperm donor. It worked. The kid turned out to be a very bright toddler (at the time the article was written.)

There was another straight couple who both became first time parents in their late 60s. I think they bought eggs and sperm and then the wife could still carry the embryos in her late 60s. At that point, you might as well call it adoption, though.

by Anonymousreply 130February 11, 2022 5:27 PM

@r126, " it would rub me the wrong way that dad only ordered me after dad’s best friend ordered in infant for himself. Like I was part of a fashion trend or something. "

Straight people do the same all the time. If a woman's friend/sister gets pregnant they want one too

by Anonymousreply 131February 11, 2022 5:28 PM

It maybe was nothing, maybe was telling, but last night when he was walking us through his slide show of baby photos, having referenced Ben as his friend and former partner and co-parent who is adopting both boys, he referred to the older child helping to put together the crib at "my house."

Are you sure he's the bottom? Or maybe just the bigger... income.

by Anonymousreply 132February 11, 2022 5:30 PM

R131 At least, straight people do everything involved themselves. Anderson made use of the grotesque process described in R127. The straight couple made it happen by putting love, effort, care, time and pain into the process while Anderson just opened his wallet.

R130 gross, this is definitely not what Mother Nature wanted….

by Anonymousreply 136February 11, 2022 5:49 PM

How is what Anderson did any more fucked up than a trick baby or the product of a one-night stand? It doesn't matter how the kids get here if everyone has free will, which the egg donor and surrogate certainly did. What matters is that the kids are raised in a stable and loving environment.

I think Bomer and Ryan Murphy bought all boys too. No frau-lings for these gays.

by Anonymousreply 164February 12, 2022 1:52 AM

So they deliberately "created" a motherless baby. This child will have no mother and be deprived of the maternal bond that is essential to healthy babies.

Sorry but not matter how decent a person Cooper may be, he is a male and he does not have the hormones or chemicals that naturally bond him to this baby or the baby to him.

I'm not saying there won't be some kind of bond, but it is not the same as with a mother. all the money in the world cannot make up for that loss.

by Anonymousreply 181February 12, 2022 4:16 PM

There are still some people - men I presume - who do not understand the natural biological part a mother plays in the natural development of young humans.

And, yes, it is chemical and hormonal and at a cellular level. Biology is real and you cannot buy it and manufacture it. For example, when the baby cries the mother excretes hormones that make her lactate and dictate behavior. The same hormone that is excreted when she orgasms and when she goes into labor. It's why a mother is the primary caregiver at that young age and bonds in a way that a father does not. It's an incredible mammalian phenom that has served the human race for a long time. But, hey, what is evolutionary biology in the face of the likes of Anderson Cooper and his money.

Mothers play a different role in the early stages of a human's life. They are not "better" parents, they are different parents. Their role in the life of their child depends on the stage of development. This may be science, but it is not rocket science. Try harder.

I wonder if Anderson used the same egg donor for both kids. It makes sense to use a different donor. That way if one mother turned out to have stealth bad genes, the other kid could still turn out OK. The smart way to create an heir and a spare.

by Anonymousreply 198February 12, 2022 5:49 PM

It is kind of weird. Your mom doesn't know you're alive. She sold her eggs. But when you turn 18, you can ask the fertility agency for her name and contact information. Or you can join one of those ancestry websites and get matched to maybe 20 half siblings you may have.

And the baby has to be wondering...what happened to that lady who's voice I heard for the last few months? Hopefully, when Anderson bottle feeds the kid, he removes his shirt and wears one of those bottle bras. Skin-to-skin contact is very helpful in making the baby feel secure and establishing a bond between parent and child.

R155...and everyone else above:

When Anderson Cooper announced the new baby on his CNN show the other night, he gave the name of the baby--Sebastian, with the hyphenated surname, Maisani-Cooper, and said Ben is also in the process of adopting the first baby, Wyatt, who will also soon have the same hyphenated surname as his younger brother.

However, Anderson specifically said Ben is his "former partner" and "best friend." Anderson did not say that he and Ben are married. Perhaps Anderson and Ben live together--I don't know--but Anderson did not say that he and Ben are current partners or married to each other. Anderson did not even say that he and Ben were previously married--he said "former partner."

I don't know if two unmarried people can adopt together and give their children hyphenated surnames.

by Anonymousreply 216February 12, 2022 7:51 PM

R209 Thank you for the source. So Anderson was misdirecting. Or Ben has since changed his mind in a BIG way.

by Anonymousreply 217February 12, 2022 7:57 PM

R216 so they are like bachelor brothers raising children? I think its intesting but there are risks. I have seen it in Lesbian couples. One would presume the lesbian couple have BED DEATH, but they are still "a couple". And then they adopt or surrogate kids. AND THEN ONE OF THEM MEETS someone.

So what's going to happen if one of these men falls deeply in love with another guy.

Something similar happened to Ricky Martin. He was raising a kid with his first BF and then he dumped the BF and the guy also had to exit the babies life.

If BOTH of those kids are Anderson's genetics, Ben risks a lot - a few years down. Either Anderson or a new boyfriend could decided Ben has to go. Adoptive father or not.

I have seen this turn into a colossal mess.

by Anonymousreply 226February 12, 2022 8:33 PM

Surrogacy is very risky in terms of the potential to exploit economically disadvantaged women. And that has nothing to do with gay men. The surrogacy shit started with straight breeders needing to have children by any means possible, gay men have just jumped on that train. The percentage of gay men using surrogates compared to straight couples is probably very small.

This isn’t a men erasing women issue - wealthy women are just as complicit in starting this surrogacy bullshit.

And I’m not buying this homophobic BULLSHIT about how babies NEED a mother to thrive biologically. Tons of mothers are shitty parents starting from when the kid is born. Anderson and the ultra wealthy gays likely hire the best nannies and baby nurses that money can buy. Those kids will be taken care of. By some women. So get off your high horse.

I find the whole trend of rich PEOPLE buying babies kind of disgusting but don’t make that into a gay male problem because it’s not. Plenty of gay couples adopt kids and foster kids and take in nieces and nephews like fucking saints. We just hear about these celebrities - so what else is new? And it’s ultimately up to the individual how they want to have children. If they have the money and want to pay and the surrogate needs money and will do it - who are we to intervene?

R227 This 100%. Surrogacy is exploitation of the highest order. ‚‘Rented uterus’ as D&G put it is just a concept of horror to me. Many poster here try to justify it by saying, well these women get paid. Well, child laborers get paid too, but does money make it right?

by Anonymousreply 229February 12, 2022 8:45 PM

So how does this whole thing work? Do you browse egg catalogues looking for the best candidates (IQ, physical characteristics etc.) in Anderson’s case, blue eyes and blond hair? Do you get to pick out your preferred gender as well? Are the high-end eggs more expensive?

Yeah, this shit is creepy.

by Anonymousreply 230February 12, 2022 8:48 PM

I know I know - but this is a GAY MALE WEBSITE. Read the fucking room. You really going to come on here and starting running your mouth about babies requiring mothers? And whining about how gay couples who want children are erasing women? Fuck that shit.

There are plenty of great gay dads on DL who love their kids a lot - so fuck off fraus.

I am childfree and satisfied with that choice - I would rather not be defending our right to breed new humans - but some of the shit I’m reading on this thread is homophobic and unacceptable on this forum.

by Anonymousreply 231February 12, 2022 8:51 PM

^ Have you finished making those sandwiches for the big game tomorrow? Now, skedaddle

by Anonymousreply 238February 12, 2022 9:03 PM

Well, at least male gay couples have a reason to get a surrogate. Look at straight couples like Priyanka Chopra/Nick Jonas, Kim Kardashian etc. who just don't want to be inconvenienced by a pregnancy. They just pay a poor woman so they don't have to deal with morning sickness, getting fat etc. How convenient when you have enough money that you can just skip all the annoying parts of a pregnancy and all you have to do is write a check and pick up the finished product 9 months later.

by Anonymousreply 239February 12, 2022 9:06 PM

Most people use the same agency, people in LA know which one I'm talking about. It tends to be a one stop shop. It costs anywhere from 80 - 200 thousand depending on what you're looking for. You pick your egg donor out of a catalogue that has a photo and biographical and medial information. Then you pick the surrogate. It's up to you if you want to have a relationship with this person. Some people want no relationship. Others want to meet the surrogate and be heavily involved in the pregnancy, going to doctors' appointments, etc. If it's anonymous, the agency is the go between sharing ultrasounds and other prenatal info.

It's a great, no mess way, to have a kid.

by Anonymousreply 240February 12, 2022 9:08 PM

R240 It’s surely great when your the agency or the paying client…..

by Anonymousreply 248February 12, 2022 9:23 PM

Back in my restaurant-working days, I had a coworker / friend who had 2 children by 2 different fathers. (She ended up marrying someone and having his baby, so 3 kids by 3 fathers. AFAIK, she's still married to this 3rd guy.) She wasn't the most beautiful woman, but she was Caucasian, and all of her kids looked like they could model for baby food, etc.

Friend sold eggs (but was not a surrogate) to make extra money. There was a woman who bought one of my friends eggs and had an attractive baby. That woman then bought another one of my friend's eggs and had another baby (attractive, I'm guessing). The woman was also giving my friend gifts (in addition to paying for the eggs).

My friend said that the woman wanted a 3rd egg, but my friend said no. This woman (egg buyer) was weird and I think my friend compromised principles on selling the 2nd egg, but said no on the 3rd egg.

All these children today being raised by same sex parents. Aren't a good number of them bound to have psychological issues when they're older?

by Anonymousreply 253February 12, 2022 9:54 PM

R249, I didn't think the donor can pick who gets the eggs. You sell the eggs to the agency. The agency takes out a bunch of the eggs at once. It's not a simple process. For weeks before the removal, the donor is pumped up with hormones. Then the agency owns the eggs and can sell them to whomever they want (whomever can write a big enough check).

The requirements for donating eggs are pretty strict. You have to be smart. You have to between a certain height range. (No one wants to buy an egg that will result in a son who is short or a daughter who is too tall. You can't have health problems. Of course, you have to be attractive, too.)

by Anonymousreply 254February 12, 2022 9:57 PM

^ Like you? Where you raised by two meth-addicted cousins? Because you sound like it

by Anonymousreply 255February 12, 2022 9:57 PM

^ Meant for r253

by Anonymousreply 256February 12, 2022 9:58 PM

R253, a lot of people raised by straight parents (which is most of the population) have psychological issues.

In some locations, kids with same-sex parents might be susceptible to bullying. I think that they have a higher chance of being gay themselves. (It runs in my family, through the maternal line.) It's getting better, but it's still much easier in a big liberal city. And if you're rich, you can keep your kids in a bubble where they're less likely to be exposed to bullies.

by Anonymousreply 259February 12, 2022 10:03 PM

Sperm spinning to choose the sex costs extra.

by Anonymousreply 260February 12, 2022 10:04 PM

[quote] [R249], I didn't think the donor can pick who gets the eggs.

R254, I'm not sure how the whole thing operated, but it did sound like my friend had a choice to not sell a 3rd egg to this woman (who already had 2 children from my friend's eggs).

by Anonymousreply 261February 12, 2022 10:10 PM

Maybe they specify male babies because they fear that a girl would long for a mother more than a boy would. With girls, it's probably easier to have a mom to give the sex talk, shop for a bra, explain how to use pads/tampons, give dating advice. I know a widower who raised his daughter alone after his wife died young, but he had lots of sisters around to help out with these tasks. If Anderson had a daughter, she'd have zero aunts. (Though perhaps Kelly Ripa would help out.)

by Anonymousreply 262February 12, 2022 10:11 PM

R262, but then you run into situations where the donor might discriminate due to religion, race, homophobia. When a man sells sperm, I don't think he gets to decide who will get it.

by Anonymousreply 263February 12, 2022 10:13 PM

I don't think sperm sorting is really that great yet. They likely sorted the embryos, which means Anderson probably has some daughters in the freezer.

by Anonymousreply 264February 12, 2022 10:16 PM

[quote]So how does this whole thing work? Do you browse egg catalogues

Well I'd start with Yelp.

by Anonymousreply 265February 12, 2022 10:18 PM

Remember the old days where you couldn't split up the task of egg donation from carrying/birthing? Baby M's mom got attached to the baby she was carrying (well, it was her egg), and after she birthed it, she didn't want to give it up. But she'd already spent the cash advance, I believe, so they went to court.

That matches your ignorance about women. As if the idea that gay women have no idea how biology works like some of the dumber males here. Women understand biology and as much as you want to twist what has been said it changes nothing. No fraudom necessary for women to understand the facts of life.

Surrogacy tends to exploit no matter who does it. There are exceptions such as close friends or relatives helping those who can't have their own children. I am less concerned with those arrangements as those are usually not financial arrangements.

Perhaps if the free market allowed for financial arrangements that really compensated fairly then that could erase the exploitation part.

But the one being ignored in all this me me me culture is the baby in utero and after its birth. It's useless to try to explain to idiot men the differences in mothers and fathers and their roles in the development of the child - and even the affects that a surrogacy pregnancy can have on the fetus. Bu then men almost never ever think or bother to learn about these things because it or the potentiality of it will never really affect you.

Of course if you're rich enough, like Hoda, you can adopt from another country in your 50s. Well, they definitely do it. There are way more gay male celebs who have boy children than in the general population. That can't be an accident.

by Anonymousreply 293February 13, 2022 3:02 PM

It is interesting about surrogacy because since it isn't your egg you're basically loaning (dare I say renting) someone your body to grow them their baby. I can see feeling really good about and bonding with what you're doing, but from the beginning it is clear who, what, why, where, when and how... it seems to me a much less intimate process. It's like nurturing a sourdough starter. Or is it any different than donating a kidney? Do people who donate a kidneys miss the kidney (emotionally) ten years later?

by Anonymousreply 294February 13, 2022 3:10 PM

They either bond with the baby or end up regretting the whole thing years later. There are lots of stories about surrogacy regret. These women all felt good about it in the beginning, but ended up regretting it years later.

by Anonymousreply 295February 13, 2022 3:25 PM
