Are you going to watch “The Lost City”, starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum?

Omg it looks so fucking funny! That last shot with Brad Pitt flipping his hair as they run, I practically fell over laughing lmao. Daniel Radcliffe as the villain? I’m down.

Sandy can do no wrong!

by Anonymousreply 93August 18, 2022 7:21 PM

OMG, OP! What are you wearing when you go! Should we do our hair different or coordinate outfits!

by Anonymousreply 1February 10, 2022 11:56 PM

This. Looks. Awful.

by Anonymousreply 2February 10, 2022 11:57 PM

Is this based on an older movie by a similar title?

by Anonymousreply 3February 10, 2022 11:57 PM

I feel like Sandra Bullock's control freak career woman shtick is wearing a bit thin.

by Anonymousreply 4February 10, 2022 11:59 PM

Looks to me like it's based on Romancing the Stone.

by Anonymousreply 5February 10, 2022 11:59 PM

Is Sandra going to go on TV and bitch about how unfair Hollywood is to her?

by Anonymousreply 6February 11, 2022 12:01 AM

Why would she? She’s one of the highest paid women in Hollywood

by Anonymousreply 7February 11, 2022 12:04 AM

It looks cute. Hollywood used to make lots of fun, star-driven action movies.

by Anonymousreply 8February 11, 2022 12:13 AM

They offered this to me.

by Anonymousreply 9February 11, 2022 12:15 AM

First time I’ve seen Brad in this type of rom com movie must be desperate for money with all these lawsuits and child custody drama.

by Anonymousreply 10February 11, 2022 12:21 AM

Not every star takes things because they need money.

by Anonymousreply 11February 11, 2022 12:22 AM

They probably paid him $5 million for 2 weeks of filming. What's there to say no to?

by Anonymousreply 12February 11, 2022 12:23 AM

[quote] "Looks to me like it's based on Romancing the Stone."

With a little "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", and "Stand By Me" leeches thrown in. It sounds as if the "Raiders" bit with the snakes may be a direct reference.

Anyway, Radcliffe looks hot as fuck with the beard and three piece suit. And Tatum looks like Tatum. I want to pat him on the head. I'd love to see Radcliffe shirtless in this, but I don't see it happening, ultimately.

by Anonymousreply 13February 11, 2022 12:25 AM

I love Channing Tatum. One of my favorite Tauruses.

by Anonymousreply 14February 11, 2022 12:26 AM

R13 you think Stand By Me created leeches?

by Anonymousreply 15February 11, 2022 12:29 AM

OP works as a flack for the studio releasting this turd.

by Anonymousreply 16February 11, 2022 12:39 AM

[quote] releasting

Oh, DEAR…

by Anonymousreply 17February 11, 2022 12:43 AM

All of her movies are dumbed down for the masses. She will be forgotten.

by Anonymousreply 18February 11, 2022 12:45 AM

R17 You never heard of "releasting?" I guess you're not in the industry.

by Anonymousreply 19February 11, 2022 12:47 AM

No, r19. I’m not. I thought that you were trying to type “releasing”. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 20February 11, 2022 1:00 AM

What does it mean r19? Because I don’t see the word definition anywhere….

by Anonymousreply 21February 11, 2022 1:02 AM

Their faces look like they've had more fillers than Madonna, or the CGI is working overtime.

by Anonymousreply 22February 11, 2022 1:04 AM

I will watch anything with Channing Tatum.

by Anonymousreply 23February 11, 2022 1:05 AM

Interesting that Sandra is almost 60 and she is playing the very physical role 30-year-old Kathleen Turner played.

Who says progress isn't being made?

by Anonymousreply 24February 11, 2022 1:37 AM

I admit Brad's hair looks good.

by Anonymousreply 25February 11, 2022 5:05 AM

How is it progress for a 60 year old woman to pretend she is 30?

by Anonymousreply 26February 11, 2022 5:09 AM

[quote] How is it progress for a 60 year old woman to pretend she is 30?

Yet on DL that is the norm for gay men.

by Anonymousreply 27February 11, 2022 5:10 AM

R20, e's 'avin' you on, chuck.

by Anonymousreply 28February 11, 2022 5:13 AM

Smells like a box office bomb

by Anonymousreply 29February 11, 2022 5:15 AM

I’ll add it to my watchlist and watch it eventually, best I can do.

by Anonymousreply 30February 11, 2022 5:26 AM

I think it looks funny. Like 1995 funny. But funny. I'll read the reviews and determine my opinion based on other people's opinions, who watched the movie, because this is 2022, and no one's opinion really matters!

by Anonymousreply 31February 11, 2022 5:27 AM

Feels very stupid fun 90s.

I'll probably hate watch it some boring Saturday afternoon.

by Anonymousreply 32February 11, 2022 5:36 AM

Total frau-fest. Will this bitch ever stop playing rolls she is 20 years too old for?

by Anonymousreply 33February 11, 2022 5:38 AM

This looks like it would have been a huge hit in about 1998.

by Anonymousreply 34February 11, 2022 5:52 AM

I hope it's not woke. But I know I'll be disappointed.

by Anonymousreply 35February 11, 2022 7:05 AM

R35 what’s “woke”?

by Anonymousreply 36February 11, 2022 7:37 AM

[quote][R35] what’s “woke”?

Shit.

by Anonymousreply 37February 11, 2022 7:40 AM

R37 again, what is it?

by Anonymousreply 38February 11, 2022 7:41 AM

R1 The Op of course is the Brooklyn Seacow Ewwdwin MonTONazz jr… we all hate it!

by Anonymousreply 39February 11, 2022 7:43 AM

R39 that has nothing to do with anything. Now answer the question

by Anonymousreply 40February 11, 2022 7:48 AM

It looks laughably, horrible! Can't to see it!

by Anonymousreply 41February 11, 2022 7:53 AM

Sandra looks too old and botoxed now.,Ditto for JLo in her rom com. Time for more age appropriate parts.

by Anonymousreply 42February 11, 2022 8:01 AM

No wonder there was a large tremor in Brooklyn on Thursday. Ewwdwin the Seacow fell over.

by Anonymousreply 43February 11, 2022 8:08 AM

[quote][R37] again, what is it?

Crap.

by Anonymousreply 44February 11, 2022 8:11 AM

R44 again, WHAT IS “WOKE”? You can’t even describe it.

by Anonymousreply 45February 11, 2022 8:12 AM

Sandra Bullock’s “The Heat” (2013) with Melissa McCarthy is a guilty pleasure of mine. And Netflix’s “The Unforgivables” (2021) wasn’t. She plays a darker persona and it wasn’t bad.

by Anonymousreply 46February 11, 2022 8:31 AM

^^^ meant wasn’t bad.^^^

by Anonymousreply 47February 11, 2022 9:00 AM

An old leading lady with a male stripper love interest is progress because it flips Hollywood's eternal paradigm of old leading men such as Harrison Ford and homely Michael Douglas romancing and preposterously being stalked by 25 year-olds.

I'm OK with it.

But I do think Bullock and JLo take it a bit far.

I remember when Gravity came out and it was hailed as a brilliant movie that accurately depicted space travel conditions, etc. All I remember is 50-year-old Sandra Bullock floating around in her bra and panties for 10 minutes and then crashing to Earth and washing up on a beach safely. It was a stupid movie and it totally objectified her surgically preserved body. Why couldn't she just have been an astronaut in a space suit?

by Anonymousreply 48February 11, 2022 9:46 AM

“Will this bitch ever stop playing rolls she is 20 years too old for?”

As soon as Clint Eastwood stops playing roles he is 35 years too old for.

by Anonymousreply 49February 11, 2022 10:26 AM

Good Lord, this looks like crap!

by Anonymousreply 50February 11, 2022 11:58 AM

[quote][R44] again, WHAT IS “WOKE”? You can’t even describe it.

Manure.

by Anonymousreply 51February 11, 2022 3:55 PM

Can’t wait to watch this

by Anonymousreply 52February 13, 2022 9:05 PM

Sandy and Potato Head? NO

by Anonymousreply 53February 13, 2022 9:33 PM

I don't think so.

by Anonymousreply 54February 13, 2022 9:37 PM

Wow, I can't believe someone defied the media industrial complex's current mandate of casting an interracial lead couple. You mean white people aren't totally cancelled? Cue the meltdown queens who don't feel REPRESENTTEEDDDDDDDDDDDD

BOOOOHOOOOOOO hope you survive World War III, you reverse racist airheads who think humanity doesn't transcend skin color -- and conflate race with class.

Idiots.

by Anonymousreply 55March 15, 2022 7:34 PM

Hey, r55, way to read those imaginary people for trash!

by Anonymousreply 56March 15, 2022 7:57 PM

looks like lots of fun. Additional premiere/sneak preview screenings happening. Its a sign the studio WANTS people to see the movie and tell their friends it was great.

I miss sneak previews, if only because it was a guarantee the movie was good, the studio was confident people would like it, and they wanted to get the word out.

by Anonymousreply 57March 15, 2022 8:13 PM

It would have to get really, really, really good reviews for me to see Channing Tatum in anything.

by Anonymousreply 58March 15, 2022 8:16 PM

I love Sandy. And I really want to like a new version of a Romancing the Stone style film. But this looks...not so great.

I'll see what you bitches say first.

by Anonymousreply 60March 15, 2022 8:34 PM

[quote] You mean white people aren't totally cancelled?

Is Brad Pitt literally white?

by Anonymousreply 61March 16, 2022 1:55 AM

This movie is literal violence!

by Anonymousreply 62March 16, 2022 2:14 AM

The reviews make it sound completely average.

Why are you greyed out OP?

by Anonymousreply 63March 16, 2022 2:23 AM

I can't stand Sandra as an actress. Everything I've heard about her is positive so I hate saying it but she just doesn't have much talent nor are her projects all that interesting

by Anonymousreply 64March 16, 2022 3:31 AM

Taking a break.

R64 You need to ask around some more. Not everyone loves "Sandi."

by Anonymousreply 66March 16, 2022 9:39 PM

The trailer looked truly awful and that god awful joe jonas song too. My god what happened to cinema!??

by Anonymousreply 67March 16, 2022 10:30 PM

Everything about Sandra screams “love me love me” she’s like a slightly less obnoxious Anne Hathaway.

by Anonymousreply 68March 16, 2022 10:31 PM

Is this the first time Brad is in this type of genre?

by Anonymousreply 69March 16, 2022 10:42 PM

I like her, will probably see this at some point, but her hair in r65 is repulsive.

by Anonymousreply 70March 16, 2022 10:58 PM

"Radcliffe looks hot as fuck with the beard..."

Yes, we know. Bullock is in it.

by Anonymousreply 71March 19, 2022 10:46 PM

R58, 100% so far on RottenTomatoes.

by Anonymousreply 72March 19, 2022 10:48 PM

[quote]100% so far on RottenTomatoes.

Everybody loves Sandy

by Anonymousreply 73March 19, 2022 11:53 PM

Miserable. Bad. Awful. Even some Melissa McCarthy movies are better.

by Anonymousreply 74May 14, 2022 2:04 AM

I shut it off after 30 minutes. It was awful.

by Anonymousreply 75May 14, 2022 2:23 AM

I saw it in a theater the weekend it opened. I liked it a lot. It's a lot of fun. And Tatum is, as always, hot. Especially the scene where Sandy's character is pulling leeches off his bare butt.

by Anonymousreply 76May 14, 2022 4:03 AM

That was a stunt double

by Anonymousreply 77May 14, 2022 5:48 AM

r76 I hope they had some good trailers!

by Anonymousreply 78May 14, 2022 2:41 PM

Ladies and gentlemen, Xirs, Xi-Xirers, Thems, This's, and the undecided pronoun xirs, I present to you a thread our In House Fucked Up Troll posted when xi/xin/xit was still on its meds. You'll notice the descent into spatially challenged on just about every other thread .

Look at the speech pattern. You'll recognize it. OP is thwacked. OP is spamming DL. Not on an hourly basis. About every ten minutes. Watch for it; it's taken over this site.

by Anonymousreply 79May 14, 2022 2:57 PM

r67 "My god what happened to cinema!??"

A lot! Its business model—as we knew it—is collapsing and the media conglomerates are now—more than ever—in charge...and they have a stranglehold on creativity...

Sadly, one would have thought that the surfeit of streaming services and abundance of working talent would have resulted in a long tail effect, i.e. "something for everyone." A genre for every demographic. Instead, Hollywood is being Hollywood: going after the lowest common denominator and looking for the one blockbuster that will impact their annual bottom line.

Before Covid-19, streaming (and bingeing) was already creating a relentless demand for new content. So quality was suffering. Anything with even a hint of brand recognition was—and still is—fodder for a reboot or remake.

Then, Covid-19 accelerated the long-dying theatre business. The impact of being unable to depend on those gigantic opening weekend box office numbers has been enormous.

"After" Covid / when production resumed, we had new costly budget line items (Covid protocols) as well as unexpected Covid-related shooting delays.

On the creative side, studios are more cautious than ever: "me too" and DEI initiatives have created a filter that goes over just about every production, to the detriment of story.

As far as the spectacle aspects of moviemaking...what used to separate it from network television, it will be more and more rare to have location shooting and large crowd scenes due to Covid concerns and budget concerns. CGI will replace some of that, but (excellent-looking) CGI is still costly.

Then, actors of all ages shapes and sizes want to work and the playpen is far too small and competitive....plus there are far too many of them so they do anything, regardless of its quality.

Also, the talent pool of auteur directors is aging out or dying. It takes a lot to stand up to all of the above and it used to be a strong director. The generation of directors now hitting their stride want to work so they bend to authority.

Finally: audiences are changing. Expectations of scripted entertainment are different among a younger audience than older. Expectations of situations, tone, pacing, dialogue, humor, effects...all changing. Dialogue some protagonists spoke merely 5 years ago would now be considered "mean" or "misogynistic" or "bullying" or "aggressive."

Even the definition of what a movie actually is is changing. Younger audiences may not recognize the difference between something they watch on their phones and something they watch on their televisions. If you take movie theaters out of their range of experience, then what? If you're producing a movie and you know your audience watches it on a tiny screen, why are you allowing the director to do a location shoot in Paris?

It's all very dreary but it is precisely where we were headed and where we are now. It's a business—a very conservative, cautious, and risk-averse business.

by Anonymousreply 80May 14, 2022 7:18 PM

It was not funny (except for Brad Pitt). Sandra is trying to be young and perfect looking and Chatum is not that good of an actor.

by Anonymousreply 81May 14, 2022 7:56 PM

I signed up for a week of free Paramount+ because I wanted to watch The Stand and The Offer but going to watch this tonight.

by Anonymousreply 82May 15, 2022 1:53 AM

Don't bother with The Stand, it was a total POS.

by Anonymousreply 83May 15, 2022 2:19 AM

Sandra looks great for an older woman, she got some good work done.

by Anonymousreply 84May 15, 2022 2:20 AM

This movie had really long legs at the box office. It will get a lot of views when it hits streaming. It's somewhere between not all that funny and terrible.

Sandra Bullock's face no longer moves. She looks like herself until she starts speaking and then it gets sad. And Tatum's character has only one goal - to make her see him as an acceptable love interest. He's in love with her and she thinks of him as a himbo. She's about 15 years older than him in real life which i guess isnt a big deal but her character is a bitch and we see him naked so its kind of playing to her ego.

Daniel Radcliffe is the only funny character in the movie. great performance as the villain

by Anonymousreply 85May 15, 2022 2:47 AM

Sandra never has sexual chemistry with her male costars. Hmmmmm

by Anonymousreply 86May 15, 2022 3:27 AM

Yup Brad Pitt was the best part, it was not good.

by Anonymousreply 87May 15, 2022 4:16 AM

Did Pitt at least look good in it?

by Anonymousreply 88May 15, 2022 4:19 AM

Pitt looked rough but it fit the character

by Anonymousreply 89May 15, 2022 4:33 AM

Sandra looked really odd lying flat on her back, don't want to spoil the scene but her face looked puffy and weird

by Anonymousreply 90May 15, 2022 4:38 AM

I guess R80 still thinks this is 2021: "As far as the spectacle aspects of moviemaking...what used to separate it from network television, it will be more and more rare to have location shooting and large crowd scenes due to Covid concerns..."

Also, while it's true that there are some young(er) woke-ish types that are too triggered by any sort of joke or line that may suggest an insult, they're IN THE MINORITY BY FAR.

Just check the reviews on IMDB, or even HERE. Almost all the negatives for any film, are critical of Hwood being waaaaay too politically correct, and this film proves that some still just want to laugh.

by Anonymousreply 91May 15, 2022 11:29 PM

[quote] With a little "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", and "Stand By Me" leeches thrown in.

I see the leeches scene as more *African Queen*. There are a lot of influences/allusions in this movie—rip-offs, if you must, but the movie doesn't really aim high enough for rip-offs.

by Anonymousreply 92August 18, 2022 12:54 PM

Bad timing. He just arrived in Korea because he is contractually obliged by the studo to promote his flop movie. He doesn’t look worried but his eyebrows tell a different story.
