I remember seeing this in 2006 and thinking it was one of the least sexy movies ever. Such an unattractive cast plaguing whiny, dull characters.

I don't recall thinking it was joyful, but it made Michael Winterbottom's "9 Songs" (featuring boring, unsimulated heterosexual sex) look like a masterpiece.

And they just rereleased it. For some unknown reason. Give him credit - he has made a career out of Hedwig.

I saw the premiere of Shortbus at the Toronto International Film Festival. Aside from the nudity, what I remember was Morgan Freeman exiting the cinema halfway through the film.

Watched this recently and what a horrible movie. They said they had no script when they filmed it. LOL. They just winged it and it shows. Not one attractive person in it except for the guy who gets the national anthem sung into his asscunt. There was nothing sexy about any of the lame sex in the movie. They should have had planet-sized Gabourey Sidibe or Chrissy Metz as the lead. Then it would have been a comedy at least.

I couldn’t watch it. Hedwig was such a a brilliant creation and I give him full credit for creating something so funny, weird and sad at the same time. When I read he was making this movie it made me kinda sad that he was probably ruining his reputation for something he thought would be provocative and heralded and I knew it was gonna be trashed.

An ex saw it and loved it and I suddenly realized why we broke up.

I just saw this film (which I had avoided for quite a while) and, surprise, I liked it. I thought it was going to be porno with bad acting and a bad script, but it's definitely not that. I'm not a John Cameron Mitchell fan (I hated Hedwig), and I get why it was evicerated by the critics on its first outing, but, today it seems pretty mild, and there is actually some good acting in there. I liked the music too. Anyone else a fan of this film?

Have you seen the movie lately, R17? I found most of the leads quite sexy. And the orgy scenes are full of sexy people. Again, the surprise was that these folks could actually act.

Saw this as a dumb teenager and felt so smug, watching an artsy movie. However, even back then I could sense the plot was terrible to non-existent. I still use the phrase "false epiphany" all the time when dealing with delusional people and their neverending "breakthroughs", which are really just them burrowing themselves deeper into their own narcissism. That's about the only thing I took away from the movie.

I saw Hedwig the film and also on stage. I didn't care for either version to be honest. The music is awful.

It felt like this weird, original (for the time) piece that got a lot of attention just because it was such a different and strange story.
