Brooklyn Beckham's cooking show has a crew of 62 and a budget of $100,000 per episode

This has to be some kind of money laundering scheme?

[quote]According to insiders familiar with his social-media series, “Cookin’ With Brooklyn,” it took a team of 62 professionals to help him demonstrate how to make a sandwich — including a “culinary producer” who approves the recipes, five camera operators and nine producers.

[quote]There’s also a big TV budget: Insiders say each episode of the show, which airs on Facebook Messenger and Instagram (where Brooklyn has 13.1 million followers), costs $100,000.

And I know this will shock DLers...but he doesn't do any of the work himself, and actually can't cook

[quote]Brooklyn, however, does not make or cook a single element of the sandwich. He only spreads aioli mayonnaise on the bagel and lays the ingredients made by others on top. He doesn’t know how to batter or fry a piece of fish. He has no idea how long it might take to fry a hash brown.

[quote]One source sniffed to The Post: “He is to cooking what [his mother] Posh was to singing.

[quote]“Apparently the guy has to be shown really super basic things and has a ‘cheat sheet’ of expressions from whisk to par-boil, several illustrated with pictures.”

Maybe Gordon Ramsey actually hates the Beckhams and wants them to waste their money? And I say their money, as surely Instagram/Facebook aren't actually paying for this

[quote]“Everything he does is directed by his parents,” said a family source. “Victoria pulled strings for him in fashion photography at first. Now, with cooking, he has Gordon Ramsay as a family friend. Gordon advised to them to put as much money into it as they could.

[quote]The sandwich Brooklyn “makes” is a take on traditional British fish and chips, updated by putting sea bream topped with a hash brown and coleslaw into a bagel.

What stunning culinary creativity!

by Anonymousreply 1February 9, 2022 5:19 PM

I always wanted to be an astronaut, but my mommy and daddy could never make that happen. Brooklyn should have dreamed bigger.

by Anonymousreply 2February 9, 2022 5:31 PM

Depending on the length of the show 100k per episode may not be out of line; and Martha had an army of producers that would figure out and execute all her projects off camera - she just explained and did some simplified assembly steps during the shoot.

That doesn’t mean this kid isn’t a complete moron, or that Martha was, it’s just the production realty on that kind of show.

by Anonymousreply 3February 9, 2022 5:39 PM

R3 Yeah, on an actual show. This barely qualifies and you have regular people doing the same thing on youtube, without a crew. I don't know why anyone would expect him to know how to cook his mother has only eaten grilled fish and steamed vegetables for the last 25 years. His dad cooks and enjoys it, and I think I'd much rather watch him cook than his son.

by Anonymousreply 4February 9, 2022 5:46 PM

Didn't he only start cooking about 6 months ago? So no more photography now?

by Anonymousreply 5February 9, 2022 5:49 PM

$100K doesn't seem like a lot of money to me. Is it?

by Anonymousreply 6February 9, 2022 5:49 PM

^ I mean to shoot an episode. At restaurant or the barber, yeah, that's a lot of money.

by Anonymousreply 7February 9, 2022 5:50 PM

The world is a deeply unfair place and absolutely nothing makes sense any more, so I fully expect him to be a roaring success with his own chain of restaurants within the next six months.

by Anonymousreply 8February 9, 2022 5:51 PM

Agreed, R3. From the very little that I watched, he's taking the role of a presenter who is learning with the viewer. He's not holding himself out as an expert chef, or even a knowledgeable amateur, just someone keen on learning more.

The two things are very different tone: one is appropriate to a 22 year old with no professional education or on job training, the other is the stuff of a seasoned expert who knows what he's talking about from first-hand cooking experience.

100,000 an episode doesn't seem outrageous for Beckham money with his parents worth perhaps a half billion and still drawing very good incomes from loads of endorsements and easy work outside investment income.

by Anonymousreply 9February 9, 2022 5:51 PM

For all the money they spent for him to study photography and cooking (I'm guessing at for-profit schools), they could have sent him to a proper four-year university where he could have earned a degree in finance. Then they could have sent him to grad school to become a doctor or lawyer. Is a salary of $400,000 a year not good enough for their son?

by Anonymousreply 10February 9, 2022 5:55 PM

Trust me - if whoever is producing this is spending 100k per episode they already have deals in place that make that money back, with profit.

by Anonymousreply 11February 9, 2022 5:59 PM

Please make me happen! Please!!

by Anonymousreply 12February 9, 2022 6:24 PM

Mommy and Daddy must be paying for it.

That's "chump change" to them.

by Anonymousreply 13February 9, 2022 6:27 PM

[quote]Agreed, [R3]. From the very little that I watched, he's taking the role of a presenter who is learning with the viewer. He's not holding himself out as an expert chef, or even a knowledgeable amateur, just someone keen on learning more.

He says it's his dream to be a great chef. You'd expect someone with that dream to have at least learned the basics

by Anonymousreply 14February 9, 2022 6:29 PM

[quote]His famous family, particularly his father, are mentioned in every single episode. “I came here with my dad when I was 13,” he tells Nobu sushi chef and restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisha.

Of course the Beckhams are the type to take children to Nobu.

Nah, just an idiot Beckham laundering scheme

There's four of them, what do we do with them?

by Anonymousreply 17February 9, 2022 6:48 PM

It is really said when offspring of semi-famous people go to these humiliating lengths to get careers without any talent. Nepotism is a bitch.

Another member of the Lucky Sperm Club.

by Anonymousreply 19February 9, 2022 7:10 PM

I can understand wanting to help your kids achieve their dreams. But if your kids have dreams and money is no object, wouldn't you focus on getting them the best education or the best training so they can ACTUALLY be good at it?

The fact that they keep drawing attention to how much little skill he has at his hobbies is bordering on sadistic. Get him training or stop foisting him on the public!

by Anonymousreply 20February 9, 2022 10:56 PM

R20 But are they his dreams/hobbies? Or just what his parents can arrange? His first attempt was football. Dad helped with that. Then photography. Mom helped with that. Now cooking - family friend Ramsey helped with that. He's just going with whatever can be arranged for him and pretending it's a big dream of his.

I also find it interesting that the photography gig and now this both resulted in people from both bitching about him to the media. You don't usually see that from the nepotism brats when they're given a career. Makes me wonder if he's a bit of a shit towards the people he's working with that causes them to bitch about him to the press.

by Anonymousreply 21February 9, 2022 11:37 PM

I was hoping it was the cute one. Forget the names. They're all silly.

by Anonymousreply 22February 9, 2022 11:39 PM

I thought he was cuter than this?

by Anonymousreply 23February 9, 2022 11:44 PM

Amateurs.

by Anonymousreply 24February 9, 2022 11:59 PM

R21 but surely he has to have SOMETHING he's interested in.

And if he really is lack in any drive or passions, stop pushing him on the public anyway. Let him be a bored rich trust fund baby. We don't need to see it.

by Anonymousreply 25February 10, 2022 12:00 AM

Well, Brooklyn used to be a photographer. Now he's a cook--or is he a chef?

Who can keep up? Is there anything he can't do?

(Cook, according to the NY Post, and probably take photographs too)

by Anonymousreply 26February 10, 2022 12:08 AM

Which one is cute one and what does he do? Is he a film director?

by Anonymousreply 27February 10, 2022 12:10 AM

One source sniffed to The Post: “He is to cooking what [his mother] Posh was to singing.

by Anonymousreply 28February 10, 2022 12:12 AM

r25 Being rich and famous? The latter is why he's constantly pushed on the public

by Anonymousreply 29February 10, 2022 12:14 AM

R29 yes but there's a difference between the rich kids who just hang out spending money on instagram and the repeated campaigns (modeling, photography, cooking) to make Brooklyn look like someone legitimately skilled or interesting.

by Anonymousreply 30February 10, 2022 12:18 AM

Honestly, he should just accept that he has no talents and live a life of leisure.

by Anonymousreply 31February 10, 2022 12:29 AM

R31 exactly!

by Anonymousreply 32February 10, 2022 12:32 AM

I Wouk do watch the hell out of a show where David Beckham cooks and invites celeb pals round for a drink while he’s cooking.

by Anonymousreply 33February 10, 2022 12:33 AM

It will never not be creepy to me that David has this kid's name as a tramp stamp.

The cum receptacle has daddy’s money. Talent not required, just a loose sphincter and no gag reflex.

by Anonymousreply 37February 10, 2022 1:06 AM

And I saw a TokTk about a 21 year old who is in debt about 95 thousand dollars because he went to the best culinary school in the country and works as a barista. He feels overwhelmed and that he’ll never be able to pay it off. And that 17 year olds shouldn’t be able to sign for students loans and get into this shit.

What culinary school did the young Master Beckham attend?

by Anonymousreply 38February 10, 2022 1:14 AM

^ McDonald's Hamburger University

by Anonymousreply 39February 10, 2022 2:42 AM

How many different ways is he going to show how to make grilled cheese before it gets old?

by Anonymousreply 40February 10, 2022 3:12 AM

I've seen no evidence that he has any particular talent, but he is 23 and doesn't have to find a career to pay his way in the world. He wouldn't be the first 23 year old to change careers or change ideas for a career. He doesn't have to *be* a working photographer, or a working chef. He can have an exhibit every couple years and people gallery attendance will soar and someone will buy his work at very steep prices out of proportion, perhaps, to his talent. He can front a concept restaurant and do all the PR about his brilliant theories on what makes good food and a good restaurant experience, talk about his brilliant and talented hand-picked chefs, and the restaurant/s will have at least a run of success. Lucky him.

In his shoes, would you want to spend years in culinary school then taking grueling jobs with top chefs for more years and do it all yourself, eventually owning your own restaurant and working incredible hours under constant pressure. "Fuck no, I can skip those hard bits, thanks", would be my answer.

But besides, he might waste your time (and that would be your fault) but how is it wasting his time to learn more about photography or art or cooking?

is it fair that from birth he had so much while others had so little? No, but I don't feel pressured to watch his videos and I don't.

by Anonymousreply 41February 10, 2022 11:45 AM

I’d want to prove that I had a talent for something (Anything) other than spending my mum and dad’s cash.

Bring a trust fund kid living a life of leisure isn’t as great as it sounds. Most of them are miserable.

It reminds me of that old saying , It doesn't matter what you know only who you know.

by Anonymousreply 45February 10, 2022 12:12 PM

I think he’s on the spectrum. I feel sad for him in a way, he didn’t get Davids looks or height or ripped physique or football skills. He’s been famous for being a kid of two celebrities since birth so he’s been thrust into “celebrity” before he had a chance to have a say. He can’t find himself since his every move is documented and reported on. He can’t date a normal girl from the local chip shop, he has to be with models or gossip sites will refer to him as a loser. He seems desperate for this fiancé, he’s tattooing tributes to her dead grand mum on himself (he’s NEVER MET the grandma) He’s barely out of his teens yet he’s ready to settle down? He hasn’t lived life on his own yet. It’s quite pathetic and awful how he’s handed experiences which he’s clearly not qualified or ready for. James Corden doing his fellow Brit’s a solid putting him on the show to essentially make a bigger fool of himself by toasting bread. If I was Brooklyn, I would disappear, figure out life without the lens of cameras or access to anything and then begin a proper life lead on my own merits and terms.

by Anonymousreply 46February 10, 2022 12:13 PM

Dorklyn must be packing a massive song: fat, short, intact dong. He should have an OnlyFans.

[quote]He can’t date a normal girl from the local chip shop, he has to be with models or gossip sites will refer to him as a loser.

If anyone actually cares enough about gossip sites to let them dictate who they date, they deserve to be unhappy

by Anonymousreply 48February 10, 2022 12:36 PM

R46, i get what you’re saying but is not really accurate. He is not getting involved in a passion, he is getting his parents to buy him sucess over his whims and without doing any work. They have money, sure, finance him a cooking course, even buy him a restaurant for him to cook and manage. But a tv cooking show where he doesn’t even cook? I think they are actually doing him a disservice and will be even more difficult for him to do anything (should he want to).

by Anonymousreply 49February 10, 2022 12:41 PM

It's not a real show. It's a Facebook/Instagram-only show. They may be able to sell rights down the road but for now it is just on Meta

And the Beckhams are not stupid. (Okay, their business managers are not stupid.) They are likely able to sell advertisers on reaching his giant Gen Z/younger Millennial audience and recoup whatever they spend on the episodes.

That said, you would think that just for pride's sake, he would have spent a few months at cooking school.

Side note: as we have often observed, the very rich and very poor have many similar characteristics, early marriage being one, as they see no point in establishing themselves and setting up a career. So he's the age most upper middle class kids are graduating from college and he's getting married.

by Anonymousreply 50February 10, 2022 12:49 PM

So it's just a vanity project, like everything this spoiled nobody attempts. It's painfully embarrassing. I don't understand why this family seem to constantly try and push this. But then I also don't understand when David and Victoria complain they don't see each other enough when they already have more money than they will ever need and could prioritise their relationship over work but just seem so money-hungry and greedy it doesn't occur to them.

Get this overgrown man-child to actually contribute something useful to society or get him out of the public eye. Waste of space.

by Anonymousreply 51February 10, 2022 1:00 PM

Is he the boy Olivia Jade?

by Anonymousreply 52February 10, 2022 1:07 PM

Think how many people had to produce Chelsea Clinton’s segments on NBC. At least this guy is good looking.

by Anonymousreply 53February 10, 2022 1:25 PM

Brookie is hot and sexy in a trashy hustler way, no where as nice as his father, who I find much better looking.

by Anonymousreply 54February 10, 2022 1:39 PM

I can see both sides of this.

If he’s employing 62 people, that’s not a bad thing. But then again, it’s not a steady gig.

by Anonymousreply 55February 10, 2022 2:17 PM

[quote]Honestly, he should just accept that he has no talents and live a life of leisure.

That's probably exactly what *he* wants to do, but Beckham's ego won't let his son be an aimless celebutard - and of course, heaven forbid he lives a life outside of the public eye - so they keep ginning up some high profile gig like photography or cooking. Other celeb kids, like Jude Law's kids are "models" or "actors", yet Brooklyn can't even manage that. Even though he's likely a twat (which is why people can't throwing him under the bus to the press), he also seems kind of pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 56February 10, 2022 2:18 PM

Why would he employ 62 people for YouTube videos?

by Anonymousreply 57February 10, 2022 2:18 PM

It’s his parents. Those kids seem abused.

by Anonymousreply 58February 10, 2022 2:19 PM

He sho is ugly!

by Anonymousreply 59February 10, 2022 2:28 PM

It's on Meta, a social media platform? Even Paris Hilton, whom I loathe, managed to get her cooking show on Netflix.

Why is he even trying to get famous? His parents are rich, his current girlfriend's parents are even richer. He already has the reputation of a trust fund brat (dumped Chloë Grace Moretz because he thought he could do better which, I guess, was true financially speaking).

by Anonymousreply 60February 10, 2022 2:30 PM

[quote]Why is he even trying to get famous?

It’s the parents.

by Anonymousreply 61February 10, 2022 2:33 PM

And they’re making fools of these kids.

by Anonymousreply 62February 10, 2022 2:34 PM

Brooklyn isn’t a kid, but Brooklyn is probably emotionally 12.

by Anonymousreply 63February 10, 2022 2:34 PM

R60

Oh, I didn't realize Nicola Peltz's dad was a billionaire! Why on earth is she settling down with this dull moron, she could have anyone.

by Anonymousreply 64February 10, 2022 3:17 PM

Agree that it IS the parents. Because if you are a Type A overachiever, you want your kids to be that way, too. I get it; people want to brag about their children, and it gets very competitive and nasty.

People seem to use their children as reflections of themselves and trophies, and don’t see them as separate people with their own lives. It makes sense to give a child any help you can, but it doesn’t help them if you do ALL the work and pay for it all. It’s counterintuitive and counterproductive. It doesn’t make them happier or love you more.

Maybe I’m bitter that no one bought me a career. But not really.

by Anonymousreply 65February 10, 2022 3:40 PM

He takes after his dad 👍👍😍😍

by Anonymousreply 66February 10, 2022 3:54 PM

Cooking shows are about entertainment, and not about cooking. Nothing wrong with what Brooklyn is doing unless you think the whole concept is reprehensible like I do.

by Anonymousreply 67February 10, 2022 4:18 PM

I watched the trailer and it's actually pretty cheap, given the final result. I couldn't care less about the Brits invading this board with their UK stupidity and their annoying slang but I thought I'd chime in.

by Anonymousreply 68February 10, 2022 4:23 PM
