Why are Youtube comments so stupid and predictable?
I was on there looking at an REO Speedwagon video (yeah I know, Mary!)...it was one of the one or two *only* good songs that band had...but people in the comments were gushing about how fantastic *all* of REO's music was. Sorry I was around back then and there was much better music being made.
And then there is always some Zoomer type that will say "my Dad, Mom etc. had cancer when this [insert movie, song, TV show name] came out and it just really moves me. This song saved me from suicide" and then that person will get 100 sympathetic replies.
It is so predictable, and these people seem to lack taste or any sense of irony. They would get skewered on here if they voiced the same opinions.

That's pretty much every comment on every music video on youtube.

This song brings me back to the early 2000s. Everything was so innocent and fun back then.

My sister-in-law is one of those social media commenters who is always the first to say shit like "I, for one, welcome our new kitten overlords" in response to dumb viral content. Then she crows about how many likes she got for it.

I've noticed a lot of the younger people don't care for the music of their own generation, but then they will gush about how great some so-so 80s song was--music that those who were sentient back in those days knew was mediocre when it came out. It's like they can't discern good from bad.

Yeah I get sick of the constant Debbie downer comments on music videos. I have empathy for people dealing with shit ( truly) but I don't want to think of someone's cancer or suicide attempts while enjoying a cheesy 90s ballad. It would be less annoying if the comments weren't so frequent.

Someone playfully teases their great Dane who shows no sign of distress: " That's ABUSE! He's clearly miserable, you don't deserve to own a pet!"

My favorite is “This song reminds me of my peepaw who passed away in 2002. I still miss peepaw every day.” This quote is similar to ones found under “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan. Have these numbskulls listened to the lyrics? Sarah wrote it after Jonathan Melvoyne’s overdose. I highly doubt peepaw died of a heroin OD.

What song, OP? "Keep on Loving You?" "Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore?"
My favorite REO song would be "Time for Me to Fly."
Anyway, yes, YouTube has the most stupid comments and commenters. However, there are some damn hilarious comments peppered in there as well.

Most commenters are stupid and preditable themselves. Why doesn't everyone want to continually hear about Madonna, Cher and Janet Jackson? Or the myriad of extra boring celebs of today?
Oh, wait. Op said Youtube.

Fluff interview with some bimbo starlet or celebutante will always result in a comment along the lines of " Wow, she is really smart and in on the joke. People say she is dumb but they're obviously wrong".

"Sorry I was around back then and there was much better music being made."
So you sit around listening to 80s music and then put down that music and act superior to people who like it? Is it really a surprise that comments on a song would revolve around people who really liked that song?
