Gary Cole

I just saw all 3.5+ hours of Fatal Vision, and I'm knocked out that the guy from Office Space and The Brady Bunch Movie did such a superb job portraying Jeffrey McDonald. He was fucking fantastic and also very very hot, even in those ugly-ass glasses.

What do we know about him? Any other fans? What are your favorites from among his roles?

by Anonymousreply 40October 30, 2022 4:21 AM

He was hilarious as Kent on Veep

by Anonymousreply 1February 4, 2022 8:10 PM

Also great on The Good Wife/The Good Fight as Diane's uber-conservative husband, a ballistics expert. Although sometimes the character irritates me, he is really good in the role.

by Anonymousreply 2February 4, 2022 8:12 PM

He was surprised when he got the offer to be in the first Brady Bunch movie because he didn't have much comedy on his resume. But his sincere delivery ended up being perfect for it.

by Anonymousreply 3February 4, 2022 8:20 PM

I’ve loved him ever since he played Lucus Buck on American Gothic.

by Anonymousreply 4February 4, 2022 8:21 PM

He’s fucking hilarious on Bob’s Burgers

by Anonymousreply 5February 4, 2022 8:23 PM

He is very hot as a lean older daddy. He just took over from Mark Harmon as the team leader on NCIS. It's nice he's finally in a starring role on a popular old folks cbs show. He plays it very charismatic and lighthearted. This 3.5 minute clip shows him just taking over and the ncis team member's "wtf" reactions. Quite funny.

He is extremely versatile with his comedic ability. It was years before I realized he was both Bill Lumbergh in Office Space AND Mike Brady in the Brady Bunch movies.

by Anonymousreply 7February 4, 2022 9:42 PM

Yeah, his range just knocks me out. From a stone-cold psycho in Fatal Vision to basically the comedic version of MacDonald (Lumbergh) to a spot-on rendition of Robert Reed as Mike Brady, Cole is letter perfect.

Big fan and super HAWT.

All I know about him, OP, is he was the younger brother on Diff’rent Strokes. He was good in that.

by Anonymousreply 10February 4, 2022 10:17 PM

I just realized that Gary Oldman (63) is 1.5 years YOUNGER than Cole (65). Yet Oldman looks older, has a more obvious artificial hairline, old man body, and gets much more public acclaim as a leading actor in major movies than Cole (unfairly imo). Cole can act just as well.

Anyway, here's Cole looking svelte as a supporting character in the indie movie Hot Air for ya, op.

He was on Desperate Housewives. He was on the recent CBS sitcom Fam.

by Anonymousreply 12February 5, 2022 4:53 AM

He was superb on Different Strokes. So deep into the character that he was unrecognizable.

by Anonymousreply 13February 5, 2022 4:55 AM

Gary Cole did full frontal nudity a few years back. He has a very nice dick.

by Anonymousreply 14February 5, 2022 5:01 AM

I think it’s in a movie called Bloclers where he does the full frontal.

by Anonymousreply 15February 5, 2022 5:06 AM

I always thought this movie was about my grammar school nightmare — Fatal Division!

by Anonymousreply 16February 5, 2022 5:16 AM

He was in Babylon 5 Crusade.

by Anonymousreply 17February 5, 2022 5:17 AM

Thank you, R11. I'll cherish it.

R14 / R15 thank you for your service!

by Anonymousreply 18February 5, 2022 10:42 AM

He was great in The West Wing.

by Anonymousreply 19February 5, 2022 11:06 AM

I love his versions of "Mona Lisa" and "Unforgettable."

by Anonymousreply 20February 5, 2022 2:28 PM

He has an autistic kid. He spoke at a conference I attended about the grieving process parents go through when they have a disabled child. I ran into him a few more times that day and he was always quiet and observant, but polite when people walked up and asked him questions.

I just found out that his wife filed for divorce in 2017 after 25 years of marriage, then mysteriously died in 2018. No information online about her cause of death at age 65. Cole remarried circa 2020.

Kind of odd, no?

by Anonymousreply 22February 8, 2022 12:23 PM

I remember his show Midnight Caller got decent reviews, but never quite caught on with viewers. I wonder how it has aged.

Given the lack of information about his estranged wife's death I assumed it was a suicide and the family didn't want it publicized because of their special-needs daughter. Cole's sister-in-law had an open exchange on IMDb about how to edit her sister's page to reflect her death. A verification process is involved and she didn't want the cause of death made public.

by Anonymousreply 25February 8, 2022 12:45 PM

I’d eat his ass.

by Anonymousreply 26February 8, 2022 12:47 PM

That makes sense, R25. Very sad. Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 27February 8, 2022 1:15 PM

I really like his character on The Good Fight. The way he and Baranski’s character negotiate their political differences. Sadly this new role probably means he won’t appear in the next season whenever that happens.

by Anonymousreply 28February 8, 2022 1:25 PM

Good news r28. Gary Cole said he will still be doing The Good Fight season 6 (2022). I bet the new season will take place right after s5 ended (with Diane quitting her firm and starting over). I prefer his TGF moustache look than his NCIS beard look anyway.

Very hot daddy who has stayed quite slim.

by Anonymousreply 30March 2, 2022 8:09 PM

Gary took over for Mark Harmon on NCIS? Does this mean grumpy Mark is permanently off the series? Good, I can't stand him. Mark is such a one note actor.

Not that I watch NCIS, I watched it on and off years ago. Most of the characters I liked had left, so I stopped.

by Anonymousreply 31March 2, 2022 8:18 PM

There's a TV movie from the 90s where a 40-something Cole grooms the oldest daughter from The Nanny. ICK subject matter, but he looked hot.

by Anonymousreply 32March 2, 2022 8:20 PM

r4 I remember that, too. It's too bad they didn't have better writers, because that show had so much potential. Midnight Caller was an uneven cult show, but I liked him in it.

I'm glad he got the $$ franchise. I've never watched NCIS, but it sounds like an L&O type show. I hope he gets good storylines. I always felt he never got the best writing to show his talent. IIRC, he started in Chicago theatre.

by Anonymousreply 33March 2, 2022 8:44 PM

I liked Midnight Caller a lot. Gary Cole was great in it.

Show was uneven. Some were amazingly good, others were tedious. But overall, a very good series.

Gary Cole...man.

by Anonymousreply 35March 2, 2022 8:56 PM

Some people in this thread won't be satisfied until they see Gary Cole's hole.

by Anonymousreply 36March 2, 2022 10:56 PM

Slim, charismatic and cynical on NCIS. Woof.

Gary Cole in 1990 could have played Dahmer.

More pics from his Dahmer then Office Space era. He got more handsome as he aged.
