Today’s female pop singers have the most annoying AF voices
What happened to the likes of Pat Benatar, Ann Wilson, Celine Dion? I wish today’s singers could take a lesson from them.
Listen to this one singer, Tate McRae. Her voice sounds like one of the Rugrats from Nickelodeon. She sounds whiney and disgusting. I’m sorry, is this supposed to sound sexy? It doesn’t! Girl, please learn to sing like a WOMAN.

Alessia Cara is another example of an annoying singer.
Alessia, your last name may be Cara, but you sure as hell ain’t Irene Cara!
Seriously, why are these singers trying to sound like little kids?

modern music education strips out individuality.
they aim too much for commercial.
and even in formal courses, they don't like belters. And true, untrained, it ruins your voice.
so, most girls try to be sopranos when they can't manage it.. and, dudes try to be base with a falsetto, and rarely able to pull it off.

I call it mush mouth singing. Like they are chewing on their words. Awful.

Listening to the radio reveals the current shortage of decent cisgender female pop stars.

That is BEYOND annoying OP. It reminds me of this cover done by Canadian indie folk group Reuben And The Dark. I absolutely HATE his voice. It's full of vibrato, and while he doesn't "speak sing" the lyrics like the woman in your example, his pronunciation is also horrid.

I don't know what's worse: 1) this uncute babyish singing, or 2) that breathy kind of singing (exemplified by Norah Jones, who was okay doing it) and now copied by mediocre singers, or 3) the ubiquitous and unpleasant vocal fry spoken by women.

I can understand why people may have found the raspy voices of Kim Cranes and Bonnie Tyler back in the ‘80s, but even they are vastly superior to today’s female vocalists.

Beyonce's voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me for some reason. I think it's that her small range just wears out my ears, or maybe she just sounds so generic to me. I don't think she's not worse than anyone else, but I just cannot stand her sound.

I could happily live the rest of my life without ever hearing this voice again.

R3 Actually, I find that very few women are trying to do soprano these days. After Adele came along, it seems like every woman is trying to do a smoky mezzo/contralto. OP's song literally sounds like the girl used a terrible deepening effect. I am tired of the fake, photocopied voices.

This has soundtracked recent McDonald's commercials and I find her voice annoying as fuck. If I had 5 minutes to live, I'd probably listen to this song since it would make it seem like forever.

In my era of pop music (roughly Beatles through Michael Jackson) it was really about the music more than the person at the microphone. Musicians were equally important as were songwriters, producers, arrangers. Most important, female vocalists could be very successful even if they didn’t have perfect faces or bodies. They could get by on sheer talent.
