The show has hit a wall with Ben and Ciara. I liked Ben’s chemistry with Crazy Claire, but then they sent her off to South Africa to work for Theo and his harelip.

There was no way Ben and Ciara should have had a baby this soon. Anyway, I don't get the hate for Ben & Ciara or the actors or this strong desire to have Ben's serial killer past retconned.

The issue with Ben and Ciara is that someone at the show thinks that Victoria Konefal can't be recast for some reason. This is the same show that recast Bo fucking Brady. There are probably only two actors/characters on Days that are unrecastable. Deidre Hall and Allison Sweeny and I'm not totally convinced that someone else couldn't play Sami Brady. Other than that, everybody can be replaced.

If Victoria doesn't want a fulltime gig, then find someone who does. There is someone getting off a plane at LAX every 5 seconds who would play that role at scale for a 3-year contract.

And finally, the writers need to expand Ben beyond Ciara and Marlena. Ben has a past, other than the serial killer one. There must be someone in that past who could show up in town and stir the pot.

I can assure you that Chandler's problem had nothing to do with "backstage issues". He made one rookie mistake by announcing his departure in non-show approved way that pissed off someone who was obsessed with him and who is no longer on the show.

When he left the show, he left with everything he needed to finish school and live in LA without help from his family.

Going back to school was a smart thing to do, but if he was truly serious about an acting career, it took him off the market too long. You've got to be something very special to leave acting, go to college, and then come back and expect to have a career. It doesn't work that way.

And not many people know this, but it was Alison Sweeny and Deidre Hall who got Chandler back. Allison got her agent to work his deal and Deidre convinced him to do it.

The only reason those characters had to leave the show is because the note was to tone down the gay during the Trump times.

Chandler gets to work his day job, which he loves, and he gets to do occasional short returns and specials and it seems he's jumped aboard the Hallmark train. He gets some extra money and gets to keep his SAG insurance requirements up to date.

They asked Freddie back for the same reason they kept him around well past his sell by date, it was easier to keep him around then go through the trouble of recasting. When he wouldn't return for Beyond Salem, he actually did the show a favor because it forced their hand and now there is now an appropriate, camera ready and engaged Sonny.

I guess a lot of you are in more traditional work settings who don't understand that many careers allow you flexibility. Your job is where you are and how you want to do it. He can do it from anywhere and he sets his own schedule. As long as he meet his deadline, he can work 5 days a week, 7 days a week, 2 days a week or every other week.

Of course that kind of work environment isn't for everyone, especially people who need a traditional workplace structure.
