R1 I need to watch it. I loved the first season.

Season 1 was wonderful. I am watching Season 2 now. Be warned though, you can only see 5 episodes. They do a slow release on the others. I was gonna wait and watch it all at once, but I had some free time.

They should change the name of this to "The Troll Behind The Wall!" The women who end up engaged are usually gorgeous (well, except one ugly one last season), but it seems like both seasons there are an inordinate number of ugly men. They look so bad that some of the women are openly vocalizing that they are not physically attracted to them? How ugly of a straight man do you have to be that a desperate straight woman doesn't want you?

Obviously there are no gay men involved in the casting. If there is one thing most gay men have a PHD in is -- what a gorgeous man looks like!

R1, Yes, Shane is very much an asshole! He is very superficial and needy. He wants everyone to kiss his ass. Unfortunately, I think he chose a woman who will do that. I won't spoil it for you since I don't know where you are in it.

Just finished the first of the available episodes & am loving it as much as I did season 1.

That relationship was DOA once the non/religious affiliations were revealed. All of the relationships are throwing up red flags...for the some reason the participants refuse to see them.

Shaina’s continuing affections for Shayne was also a big factor, R11. It’ll be interesting to see their previewed future interaction.

Shake is an ass, but showed who he was from the first minute that he got there. Why would anyone think he would change in a week? Natalie seems annoyed by Shayne much of the time. His bro behavior and neediness are so off putting. They don’t follow each other on Instagram, but he and Shaina do. The two of them would probably be more comparable, because they are both brain dead. Shaina should’ve never accepted the engagement ring. I don’t understand the mens attraction to Mallory. The black girl is much cuter and I like her personality better. Former fat girl needs a lot of therapy before she can date healthily, but something is off about the guy she is with. His ‘caring nurturing schtick’ seems fake.

Shayne/Shaina/Shake are all superficial assholes. None are ready to love anyone. They are too in love with themselves.

Shake wants a Blonde White woman. He did not change his mind that quick. People like what they like. A lot of Brown men see that as the ultimate prize. It is sick, but true. Deep is gonna get her heart broke - but it should not be a surprise - I mean, he did tell her and is apparently now telling everyone else he doesn't want her.

I am kinda rooting for Natalie to be hosed over. In her intro she said she wasn't some "submissive little Asian" yet she totally caves to Shayne and lets him dominate and DISRESPECT her at every turn and in every possible way - EVEN PUBLICLY. She obviously hates Asian men and puts this goofy looking air-headed White man on a pedestal. She's a stuck up phony and getting exactly what she deserves.

Mallory doesn't want either of those men but she loves the attention. I agree that she is not pretty enough to be getting this much attention. At least Salvador seems smart enough to KNOW she doesn't want him. But Salvador is kinda fucked up though for going after Mallory hard when he knew Jarrett was in love with her (it looked like Shaina did the same thing to Natalie).

Jarrett still thinks he has a shot with Mallory... while being engaged to someone else? What an ass! Iyanna deserves so much better. She thinks she's his second choice but sadly she is not his choice at all. He is not gonna marry her. Jarrett is giving me Carlton (season 1) vibes, not that he is gay but that he is being selfish and dishonest about what he wants - it isn't Iyanna.

That little big earred Marco-Rubio look-a-like (Kyle) reminds me of Mark from Season 1. Mark got played by Jessica in the same way he is getting played by Shaina. But I don't feel sorry for him. He should know that a christian is not gonna be ok with an atheist - even with all other things being equal. But she doesn't want HIM - which is the biggest hurdle and he seems totally blind to it.

I'm picking up Nerdy "Incel" vibes from Nick. I think he is anti-social personality will come across as cold to Danielle (the severely emotionally damaged former fatty). He doesn't have the skills do deal with someone like that. They are doomed!

They must be getting paid by the show for each week they stay together. None of these couples make any sense. All these people are so grossly unsuited for each other. I don't know that any of them are gonna marry, much less STAY married.

I think Nick & Danielle are the only ones with any chance of making it.

R15 In order for that to work, Nick would have to be prepared to lick and suck the entirety of her anal cavity on a daily basis. And even then I'm not sure she would be secure enough to believe he really wants her. Plus the other side of his quirky "nice guy" personality is a dominant controlling side which we saw a little bit of during their fight. THAT is who he really is. She is gonna resist that - if she doesn't drive him crazy first with her insecurities!

Yes R17. When the cameras were outside but still within earshot he said "you are being toxic. No STOP!" Then he said as an afterthought "please you gotta let me finish." Clearly he realized he might be getting recorded otherwise I doubt he would have backed off and acted more polite. I have met guys like this before. They are sweet as pie in public but very passive aggressive and outright abusive in private.

I think he is abusive. And as an insecure person, I think she is drawn to that. They are bad for each other.

I couldn’t figure out how a straight man could be as gay Nick, and then I watched the episode where we meet his family. His mom is terrifying, and he was clearly rattled in her presence. Then it all made sense: he simply can’t allow himself to be gay.

The show may not pick the fiancees but it picks the cast and their storylines. All dating shows have producers talking to the contestants behind the scenes.

Even if the premise is they can't know what the other looks like until the 'reveal', there are ways for people to suss it out even without asking directly. The blaccent is a tell, talking about your Indian background is a tell, etc. etc.

In the same way you can often tell the difference between Black and White people on the phone, even if they both speak the Queens' English. Certain words and phrases and the way they piece them together will often give them away if you talk long enough. But not only that but HOW they express themselves will be different. Culture is a part of someone's background and experience. You an hear weight sometimes as well. There is a lot more in people's voices than you think. Unlike here, they don’t get the opportunity to spend any time together, however apart, at least initially, before deciding, in short order, whether to agree to marry at the altar at the appointed time.

R59 and R62 I think MAFS makes a mockery out of marriage. LIB is more like a traditional "arranged marriage" where at least the people hooking the parties up know them well. MAFS has a team of "experts" (and I am sure producers have a hand in it since it is a TV show) deciding who to match up. None of these couples is a home run. I predict the following will marry:

Nick and Danielle (Both are aware of their insecurities and feel that this is the best they can do).

Shayne and Natalie (Both are desperate).

Salvador and Mallory. (This was a hard one because they both seem so insincere about each other, but I think both really want to be married (not necessarily to each other) so they will marry. He KNOWS she doesn't want him. But since he is gay, he will enjoy the beard. I think she likes fucking Black men but wants to marry a Latino. Other than both being Mexican, they seem to have literally nothing else in common).

I don't believe any of the couples will stay married.

Most of this article is behind Slate's paywall, but the writer, disappointed by season 2, is recommending the Japanese version, which dropped around the same time. Although there was something lost in the translation, I really liked the Brazil offering, so I'll take a look at the Japanese show.

Brazil's Love Is Blind was great because they dubbed the voices. I refuse to watch a reality tv show where I have to read everything they say.

They follow them around 24/7. They wouldn't have a current drug abuser on the show. That would be a liability issue. If Natalie or one of the girls got hurt they'd have a lawsuit.

I was not a Nick Lachey fan when he was younger. He came across as needy and effeminate but he is coming into his own now. He looks and acts more like a man! ME LIKEY! 😍

Vanessa came across as looking old and acting bitchy in this episode. I felt a little sorry for Nick Lachey.

I thought Vanessa and Nick came across well in the reunion. I like that they both gave Abishek the business and weren't trying to take a middle ground.

R114 I liked that part too, but I did not like the way it was done. There was way too much cussing from Vanessa. She's had many hosting gigs and always came across as really classy in the past. I realize this is not network TV, but I did not enjoy seeing her in that light. She was the host here and not a contestant. She came across as pretty trashy. It gives a glimpse of how she is when the cameras are off. I didn't like it. It changed my image of her.

I thought Nick came across well. He was professional. He called Shake out on his shit, but did it as someone who still has an image to uphold.

To be honest, Shake's comments are what made the reunion interesting. Imagine how boring it would have been without him. It is not like last year when everyone was excited to learn about Lauren and Cameron's journey.

Nobody cares about the fake ass Season 2 couples. So many did not marry and the two that did marry are highly suspect.

Shayne did get drunk. We saw him drinking wine but never saw him DRUNK. He got drunk and verbally attacked her.

I'm saying that your drunken tirades were not the reason she dumped you. She jilted you at the altar because your brain is so fucked up from your prior drug use that you cannot carry on a serious conversation. Frankly I'm surprised it took her so long to put all the pieces together - unless she was hanging in there to stay on TV and keep collecting that Netflix paycheck.

It's a reality show, and they're not professional actors, so there are no residuals with continued exposure in the show.

Also, I’m shocked Nick and Danielle are still married. Halfway through the show I had him pegged as being gay. All the pieces fit.

I think Shayne was raised trashy. The facial expressions are cute, some people are like that, but he stomps around like he was never asked to sit up at the dinner table once in his life. He needs some maturity and a therapist. Then he might learn to modulate his emotions so he doesn't go nuclear in an argument with a partner.

I just want to say PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE watch Love is Blind Japan!!!! It is fucking amazing!!! It has nothing in common with US version...you actually care about the couples and their well being. It one of the best reality shows I've EVER watched...no joke!

Yes, r136 i want a year update on the Japanese version. Have you checked out the Brazilian one? Haven't seen it yet.

I watched 10 minutes of the Brazilian show. The men are better looking than in the US version.

I watched (and intend to finish) some of the other versions of Love is Blind. Apparently, there are far fewer contestants, so I suspect it’s structured so everyone will end up with someone. The Japanese version only has 1 attractive man and several attractive women, while the Brazilian version has several attractive men and only 1 or 2 attractive women.

I think I’ll stick with watching the Japanese version since I’m interested in Asian dating culture. Brazilians tend to be so superficial and chaotic I couldn’t get through the first 5 minutes without feeling like I’m watching a telenovela.

Last week Jarrett and Iyanla announced they’re getting divorced, and yesterday Nick and Danielle announced their divorce. If “the experiment” was to prove couples will stay together for financial reasons (in this case a bonus for staying married for a year), it was a success.
