Jeff Zucker OUT at CNN

GASP!

The real question is - how does a fat gargoyle like Zucker land a woman like this?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 1February 2, 2022 3:29 PM

It's always the ditzes from Marketing.

by Anonymousreply 2February 2, 2022 3:31 PM

The woman used to work for Andrew Cuomo, too! What a world.

by Anonymousreply 3February 2, 2022 3:31 PM

She's no prize, either.

by Anonymousreply 4February 2, 2022 3:31 PM

HOLY SHIT

HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR THIS GARGOYLE TO TOPPLE

by Anonymousreply 5February 2, 2022 3:32 PM

R1 The same way a fat gargoyle like Harvey Weinstein gets dozens of A-list actresses to fuck him. Power, money, and fear.

"Oh, you want to be a star, do ya? Come over here and blow this creepy fat Jew, and we'll have you on the cover of People next week!"

In truth, this scandal couldn't have happened to a more deserving piece of shit. This bald bitch singlehandedly wrecked NBC, then CNN, and apparently a few marriages in his personal life. Fucking dunce is as bad at managing network talent as he is at keeping his schwanz in his pants.

by Anonymousreply 6February 2, 2022 3:32 PM

Probably the person in media most singlehandedly responsible for Trump

by Anonymousreply 7February 2, 2022 3:36 PM

Shouldn't she be disciplined or fired for kissing up to the president of the company to climb the corporate ladder? Sounds like she's getting off easy here.

by Anonymousreply 8February 2, 2022 3:36 PM

“Fat creepy Jew”

Did you really need to write this R6?

Die pig. Die.

by Anonymousreply 9February 2, 2022 3:36 PM

She may very well be disciplined, we don't know and it wouldn't be released publicly.

If he outranked her then he's the one who's going to go down, that's usually how it works.

by Anonymousreply 10February 2, 2022 3:37 PM

well Chris and Mario are going out to lunch today!

by Anonymousreply 11February 2, 2022 3:40 PM

This is what CNN gets for trying to bring down the Biden presidency. I wonder if Wolf Blitzer will be reporting on this today with the same breathless urgency that he does with any negative news on Democrats?

by Anonymousreply 12February 2, 2022 3:41 PM

Bring Ted back to make CNN a real news network again.

by Anonymousreply 13February 2, 2022 3:42 PM

Too bad he's not dead.

by Anonymousreply 14February 2, 2022 3:43 PM

Zucker turned CNN from a respected news organization to a 24-hour anti-Trump screamfest. Good riddance.

by Anonymousreply 15February 2, 2022 3:44 PM

r7 beat me to it. He chose ratings over American democracy. And their ratings still suck.

by Anonymousreply 16February 2, 2022 3:45 PM

I don't have a political axe to grind with Zucker as some of your Trumper/Newsmax types do (one of many reasons you should leap into the nearest grease fire) but he's compromised the integrity of the network time and again for ratings and clicks.

by Anonymousreply 17February 2, 2022 3:46 PM

In a statement, Allison Gollust said: "Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years.

"Recently, our relationship changed during Covid. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time. I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do everyday."

by Anonymousreply 18February 2, 2022 3:48 PM

Wasn't he scheduled to step down sometime in the next six months anyway?

by Anonymousreply 19February 2, 2022 3:48 PM

R19, yes. He was supposed to last year but it was postponed for another year while they complete their acquisition of Discovery.

So really he's just leaving a few months early as he was going to anyway.

by Anonymousreply 20February 2, 2022 3:51 PM

I'm a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 21February 2, 2022 3:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 22February 2, 2022 3:57 PM

But a very cute, hung one r21.

[quote] [R19], yes. He was supposed to last year but it was postponed for another year while they complete their acquisition of Discovery. So really he's just leaving a few months early as he was going to anyway.

LOL, No!!!

He is good friends with the incoming CEO and the assumption was that he would be elevated in the new organization and would launch CNN+, the new online streaming service.

by Anonymousreply 24February 2, 2022 4:00 PM

Bring back Bobbie Battista to run the network.

by Anonymousreply 34February 2, 2022 4:12 PM

[quote] Zucker turned CNN from a respected news organization to a 24-hour anti-Trump screamfest.

CNN has always been something of a joke from a journalistic perspective. When they started, and for years after, it was VNR heaven.

But attacking Trump should have been the 24/7 obsession of EVERY news outlet. I’m amazed that anyone could think otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 35February 2, 2022 4:19 PM

[quote] "Recently, our relationship changed during Covid. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time. I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do everyday."

How do you disclose a secret affair? So your work is supposed to be in on this secret and keep it from their spouses? I’m fucking the closeted CFO right now. I’m not going to disclose it and destroy his marriage and his life.

by Anonymousreply 36February 2, 2022 4:28 PM

r1? She looks like Jerry Seinfeld in a wig.

by Anonymousreply 37February 2, 2022 4:30 PM

I'm curious, why are people saying he helped give us Trump? I thought MAGA hated CNN

by Anonymousreply 38February 2, 2022 4:30 PM

R38 He gave Trump a LOT of airtime in the 2016 elections for sensational clicks and views. Even had Anderson Cooper interview him from Trump Tower, it was especially groveling and cringey. It helped normalize him to the public. MAGA would love Zucker if they had any sense.

by Anonymousreply 39February 2, 2022 4:36 PM

[quote] I'm curious, why are people saying he helped give us Trump? I thought MAGA hated CNN

Because Jeff Zucker at NBC was responsible for Trump’s return to prominence

At CNN he also elevated him by constantly reporting everything he said and did at the candidate stage, essentially creating a self-fulfilling prophecy

Zucker also changed the new culture at CNN by replacing newsreaders with commetariat who would parrot and amplify Trump’s lies

by Anonymousreply 40February 2, 2022 4:40 PM

Jeff Zucker is all of five days younger than DL fave Robert Downey, Jr. Who is aging better, do we think?

by Anonymousreply 41February 2, 2022 4:42 PM

As I recall, in 2015-6 CNN prefered to air live footage of an empty podium at which Donald Trump was due to speak rather than airing speeches that Bernie Sanders was delivering at the exact same time. Because mere anticipation of Trump and whatever he'd say next made for better ratings than an actual speech by another candidate.

by Anonymousreply 42February 2, 2022 4:43 PM

Also I hated Anderson Cooper's weak defense of the disproportionate Trump coverage back then. Saying well, Donald was always available for TV and the other candidates weren't and came off as more rehearsed. Of course he's always available, he's a media obsessed attention whore. It's your job to balance the news.

by Anonymousreply 43February 2, 2022 4:46 PM

Zucker should be replaced by Elsa Klensch, who would bring style and pizzazz back to her former network!

by Anonymousreply 44February 2, 2022 4:49 PM

[quote] As I recall, in 2015-6 CNN prefered to air live footage of an empty podium at which Donald Trump was due to speak rather than airing speeches that Bernie Sanders was delivering at the exact same time. Of course you would cover a major candidate rather than a fringe candidate. It’s the same reason all the networks covered Biden’s speech instead of Marianne Williamson’s speech.

by Anonymousreply 45February 2, 2022 4:50 PM

"This populist Nazi scumrag was pushing himself on us day and night, so how could we not give his lies and ridiculous promises constant airtime?"

by Anonymousreply 46February 2, 2022 4:50 PM

I wholeheartedly agree with R44, unless the option is Jeanne Moos.

by Anonymousreply 47February 2, 2022 4:51 PM

[quote]Zucker turned CNN from a respected news organization to a 24-hour anti-Trump screamfest

CNN is all about Trump, January 6th and "voting rights" 24/7.

That's all fine and good, it's all important stuff, but people are concerned about crime, inflation, immigration, school mandates etc.

Like it or not, those are the things that Fox covers.

CNN and MSNBC have handed Fox the narrative on those subjects.

This is how dumb CNN is: do they really think people want to see dour faced Jim Acosta helming a show called "Democracy in Peril" at 9 PM?

"CNN launched a new show, “Democracy in Peril,” two weeks ago in the 9 p.m. ET slot, which was previously occupied by ousted anchor Chris Cuomo. Ratings are in for the first two hosts, Brianna Keilar and Jim Acosta, and so far, the new program has not stopped the viewership decline."

"Keilar was up first last week, helming the show at its outset. From Monday of last week to Monday of this week, CNN’s 9 p.m. hour averaged 556,000 total viewers, of whom just 139,000 were in the advertiser-coveted age demographic of 25 to 54. Compare that to Fox News’ Sean Hannity, whose competing program averaged 2.985 million total viewers Monday to Monday, with 426,000 in the demo, on average."

by Anonymousreply 48February 2, 2022 4:53 PM

[quote]He is good friends with the incoming CEO and the assumption

"Assumption" but nothing was set in stone R24.

He may have wanted to stay, hoped he would stay, expected to stay but that doesn't change the fact that he was supposed to be going anyway.

What this does change is where he's going next.

How many viewers did they lose by firing Coumo? Did they disclose the numbers?

by Anonymousreply 51February 2, 2022 4:58 PM

The media is supposed to be pro democracy. Jeff Zucker is why we're on our way to living in a authoritarian shithole country. All for ratings and the network is in the toilet.

Zucker is one mutherfucker I never want to see naked or bent over.

Good Riddance!

by Anonymousreply 52February 2, 2022 5:00 PM

Well, at least he isn't married. (He got divorced about two years ago.). And most importantly, at least it appears that this relationship was consensual.

He had colon cancer in his early 30s, and he had two surgeries and chemo at that time. Then, he had heart surgery about 3 years ago. So, it's kind of hard to blame him for indulging where he can. Maybe that's why he got divorced...so he can sleep with whomever he wants.

by Anonymousreply 53February 2, 2022 5:04 PM

R39 Cooper came off as an "enlightened" both-sides type back then. He looked like an idiot for doing that Trump Tower interview, on his knees by that tacky gold throne. I think he knew he fucked up after Trump won.

by Anonymousreply 54February 2, 2022 5:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 78February 2, 2022 6:55 PM

thought he was the head of FB

by Anonymousreply 79February 2, 2022 6:59 PM

Brian Stelter just said on CNN that Chris Cuomo was going to court to get paid out the millions due in his full contract after his firing and "he was not going quietly". Stelter literally said - on air - "as a source said to me earlier today he (Cuomo) was trying to burn the place down. He was going to court trying to burn the place down and claiming that he had incriminating information and Zucker and Golluck."

Now somebody like Stelter seems the type who only jumps after being told and specifically how high. So what do you read into this? Zucker didn't disclose the relationship when asked about it as part of the defence for court.

Never the crime, always the coverup...

by Anonymousreply 80February 2, 2022 7:03 PM

Who cares? Can't they just let the young lovers be? Why they wanna spoil it?

by Anonymousreply 81February 2, 2022 7:06 PM

^ That was what Alyson Camerota was arguing on the desk and in this instance she was right... technically she was a subordinate but she was also an executive, it was consensual, blah, blah, blah... but it sounds like when asked he didn't disclose and that's what's got him... because the omission reflects either on him or, more likely if the Stelter thing is right, created problems for CNN legally in other litigation.

This is going to be great because if they trotted Pugsley out to break the news about a Cuomo connection, it's going to get ugly and public.

Hurrah!

by Anonymousreply 82February 2, 2022 7:08 PM

As I said at R28, the assumption (which now seems is accurate) was the Cuomo's people were going to leak this to Fox and anyone else who would listen as a "negotiating point" and this is just CNN getting out ahead of it. Clearly the fact they were having an affair for many years was an open secret at CNN.

by Anonymousreply 83February 2, 2022 7:24 PM

Also, IIRC, when he was named producer of the Today Show when he was 30 (not yet 30?) much of the commentary was about how even at such a young age he looked like a middle aged man, bald and pudgy

by Anonymousreply 84February 2, 2022 7:27 PM

There's more than just a failure to report it at the start.

This is a forced resignation by the board so they don't release the REAL reason he is resigning, which was likely uncovered in the Cuomo affair, probably that he was helping Andrew Cuomo.

CNN was great when it started. It was just the news and they even had a show about international news.

They really lost their way during the 2016 election with free advertising for Trump. Now, with "breaking news" happening all day long and the evening shows (Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, formerly Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon) just regurgitate all the same shit. It's boring.

by Anonymousreply 97February 2, 2022 7:58 PM

The cable news shows are popular with other journalists but not so much with the American public.

Their audiences keep on shrinking and the average viewer is over 60. (Similar to Datalounge)

CNN+ was their hope to avoid irrelevance, but it's sort of a Hail Mary Pass.

by Anonymousreply 115February 3, 2022 12:08 AM

Jeff Zucker didn't just promote Trump on CNN, he helped craft Trump's image on The Apprentice for NBC when Zucker was running that network. All the MAGAts think Trump is a brilliant businessman because they believed all the bullshit on The Apprentice.

The Trumps and Zuckers used to vacation together and Zucker basically gave Trump the platforms to start a Presidential run, and *still* Trump turned on Zucker. You'd think people in Trump's orbit would figure out he's loyal to no one but himself but they keep risking prison for the stupid asshole.

by Anonymousreply 116February 3, 2022 12:36 AM

It really is hard to think of any network at any time that's had a worse year than CNN. The Cuomo disaster, the sexual harrassment charge against Lemon, Kathy Griffin's rant against the network, the horrible ratings, the disastrous decision to put Briana K anywhere on the line-up....oh, and Jeffrey Toobin. Good for Turner that he doesn't know what happened to his network.

by Anonymousreply 118February 3, 2022 12:52 AM

[quote]you’re not wrong, but I’m going to point out that MSNBC did the same.

It wasn’t just Morning Joe, either. I remember Joy Reid was guest hosting one of the nighttime shows and she was not at all happy that the network was interrupting her show to carry a Trump rally live. Not out of ego — she was barely able to disguise her disgust at giving Trump a platform.

by Anonymousreply 119February 3, 2022 12:54 AM

Trump is a spoiled cunt who is a thing now specifically because "fake news" networks like CNN gave him a platform to spread his bullshit starting with his disgusting birther bullshit. He was fine with going on those same networks to spew his hateful shit towards the then current president and they allowed him that platform to be scum. He shows what an unpatriotic, anti-American pile of shit he is by virtue of becoming president and then expecting to be talked about by every media outlet like the North Korean propaganda networks talk about their leadership.

Trump shouldn't be allowed citizenship, He is not an American. And CNN helped create that monster.

by Anonymousreply 121February 3, 2022 1:02 AM

Now somebody needs to dilute Dana Bash. She's the head of politics for CNN. She licked Trump's boots over and over again. She's basically a Republican cheerleader. Smirked about it. And acted above it all.

by Anonymousreply 122February 3, 2022 1:30 AM

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall....

by Anonymousreply 123February 3, 2022 1:56 AM

I no underzan same ez you.

by Anonymousreply 125February 3, 2022 2:01 AM

Has anyone asked Matt Lauer for a comment?

by Anonymousreply 126February 3, 2022 2:02 AM

So if you meet someone at work and begin a mutually consensual relationship, that is reason to lose your job? He may be a creep, but I would rather not work at a place that forbids people doing what comes biologically natural to them and hurts no one and is really therefore no one’s business. I don’t get it. Just think of all the Hollywood films about coworkers (will they won’t they- they always do) that are now trash. “His Girl Friday” could not be made in 2022.

We live in this weird world of symbolic propriety- that by the way does not apply to Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 127February 3, 2022 3:15 AM

R127, let's be honest: As with Weinstein, it's never really consensual when they're THAT ugly. It's about advancement.

by Anonymousreply 128February 3, 2022 3:18 AM

It wasn't the relationship. He was asked about it but didn't say.

by Anonymousreply 129February 3, 2022 3:28 AM

At what point is someone supposed to “report” having a relationship with a person they work with (or work for)? Do you report it after the first date? After you sleep together? Only if the relationship is exclusive? If the relationship is consensual and both parties are happy, why do they need to report it to anyone?

And for what it’s worth, the woman involved is fairly high up, not an intern or personal assistant. It also sounds like it’s been off and on for a while.

Zucker should have been given the boot for running CNN into the ground but so far I haven’t read anything about the affair that would merit being fired. Even if he didn’t disclose it.

by Anonymousreply 130February 3, 2022 3:46 AM

[quote]So if you meet someone at work and begin a mutually consensual relationship, that is reason to lose your job?

Only in America folks.

by Anonymousreply 131February 3, 2022 3:53 AM

Zucker should have been given the boot at NBC for all the things he covered up.

by Anonymousreply 132February 3, 2022 3:54 AM

It's principled, let's say. His resignation. And it's not involving a pretty young thing.

In this day of shamelessness, a round of small 👏👏👏 to CNN.

by Anonymousreply 133February 3, 2022 3:59 AM

I wonder if part of him is relieved. All these guys with skeletons in their closet must know it'll hit the fan sooner or later. I'd be a wreck worrying about shit. If I were him I'd drop out of the spotlight, retire and take up an expensive hobby. So much less stress.

by Anonymousreply 134February 3, 2022 4:01 AM

The top suits at NBC were quite happy with the way Zucker successfully covered up what was really going on there. They only told him to start looking elsewhere when the wrappings began to fall.

by Anonymousreply 135February 3, 2022 4:11 AM

Now that Zucker is gone, I bet we’ll start hearing about all of the things he has helped cover up, especially at NBC.

by Anonymousreply 136February 3, 2022 4:22 AM

Per R18's post:

[quote]In a statement, Allison Gollust said: "Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years.

[quote]"Recently, our relationship changed during Covid. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time. I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do everyday."

Calling bullshit on her statement about their relationship. The linked tweet contains an excerpt from Katie Couric's book that points at shenanigans going way back -- while they were at NBC *and* around the time of Katie's ABC talk show.

by Anonymousreply 149February 3, 2022 8:03 AM

by Anonymousreply 150February 3, 2022 8:51 AM

This is a non news story. The outraged staff is ridiculous. I understand he was a likable guy but he was hired by the board to shrink CNN and make it lean and profitable. He hollowed it out and made it a shell of its former self. Hundreds of reporters were laid off. They changed over to these cheap, undergraduate “documentaries” and a bunch of fluff. Jeff eliminated investigation journalists and switch to headline news only. And then shrunk it even more to political headlines only. And headline news channel became something else entirely.

He’s no hero to reporters or to journalism.

by Anonymousreply 151February 3, 2022 9:00 AM

R12 I would REALLY love to chalk your post up to hysterics, BUT you're absolutely on the money. Not sure if they're trying to be fair and balanced or what, but Blitzer and Tapper are just two back-to-back hours of Biden bashing.

I'm going to MSNBC

by Anonymousreply 152February 3, 2022 9:09 AM

For him to resign effective immediately shows that this was more than him just getting caught fucking some underling. I'd love to know if they paid him any severance. If they didn't that's more evidence they had something far worse on him.

by Anonymousreply 153February 3, 2022 1:02 PM

They got rid of him so they didn't have to pay 18million to Chris Cuomo.

by Anonymousreply 154February 3, 2022 2:11 PM

I miss headline news, I enjoyed that channel.

by Anonymousreply 155February 3, 2022 2:12 PM

I feel as if none of the horrible things that Zucker did made any difference. He's not being punished for inflicting Trump on this country and causing untold damages, he's being punished for low ratings.

by Anonymousreply 156February 3, 2022 2:15 PM

It isn't about the affair. It's about the honesty, fulsomeness and timeliness of the disclosure. He says as much himself.

Factor out the legal risk he created for a publicly traded company facing litigation in which it's asserted the claimant wants to leverage the relationship to his advantage.

He was the most or almost the most senior figure in the company. She was a subordinate peer. If there was no coercion, which there does not seem to be, was there a conflict? Was she the beneficiary of some advantage that was unfair as a result of the relationship? Did failing to properly disclose the relationship create the appearance of a conflict? Was deception involved? If there was, is deception consistent with the code of conduct to which employees typically contract as a condition of employment?

I hope none of you who argue it was private business don't have any positions of responsibility in publicly traded companies, because you're fucking dopes when dicks get involved. Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 157February 3, 2022 2:22 PM

There may be darker reasons why they’re letting him go but they’re protecting him by not telling the truth. It’s a Jewish boys club.

by Anonymousreply 158February 3, 2022 2:26 PM

R138... even messier. Good catch. It kind of makes Pugsley Stelter's claim that La Cuomo was trying to burn the place down look like more than just his usual corporate fart catching.

by Anonymousreply 159February 3, 2022 2:26 PM

R158 and R160 sound like we're making Whoopi.

by Anonymousreply 161February 3, 2022 2:38 PM

I think AT&T was to scared to make a change to CNN leadership, despite incredible decline in ratings, because they didn’t want to be seen as interfering with the news business. Now that the process has begun to spin off WarnerMedia, the necessary personnel changes will be easier to make. Hopefully, CNN can be revamped someday into a nonpartisan news provider, and be a real alternative to Fox and MSNBC instead of going after the same political niche as MSNBC.

by Anonymousreply 162February 3, 2022 2:38 PM

Ted should have never sold the place. He said that himself years ago.

by Anonymousreply 163February 3, 2022 2:41 PM

I just do people watch cable news? Just read the news online. It’s outdated and the overpaid partisan propagandists on BOTH sides are just awful. They all are obsessed with twitter and think things that are “trending” are of interest to most people and they aren’t.

by Anonymousreply 164February 3, 2022 2:41 PM

Jane Craig should take over as head of CNN.

by Anonymousreply 165February 3, 2022 3:23 PM

From Brian Stelter's newsletter:

-- Upon learning of Zucker's exit, many CNN staffers felt, as Dana Bash said during a tense DC bureau meeting with WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar, that "the punishment didn't fit the crime." Internally, there is a lot of confusion about why this happened.

-- With that in mind, is another shoe about to drop? Some observers think so, but no one knows, and nothing has dropped yet. "For many CNN staffers, something isn't adding up," NYMag's Shawn McCreesh wrote.

by Anonymousreply 166February 3, 2022 3:30 PM

[quote] it's beyond shameful that Fox propaganda network is the #1 "news" network

That's really not saying much since the numbers of people watching any TV news has dropped precipitously in the last 20 years. Intelligent people have been getting their news from other sources for a long time. Fox is #1 because the unintelligent, uneducated, and bigoted are glued to FAUX News because they tell them what they want to hear. But even FAUX News has lost a large percentage of their viewers who've gone to even more far right crazy news channels.

by Anonymousreply 167February 3, 2022 3:45 PM

R164, I'm having a hard time agreeing with the "well both sides are equally as bad". The likes of Fox and Newsmax are far more radical than networks like MSNBC. The "both-sides-ism" argument just doesn't cut it for me personally. CNN and MSNBC may be more liberal leaning but it's nowhere near to the extent that Fox and Newsmax push their own agendas with flat out lies and distractions, with no shame in their game.

by Anonymousreply 168February 3, 2022 3:49 PM

In a sense, R167, what you're saying is that tv news has become the realm of infotainment (at best), with most real news migrating to other media and other platforms. I just hope the people deserting tv news are going to careful sources and not to crazy podcasts.

by Anonymousreply 169February 3, 2022 3:51 PM

A lot of people I know have given up on the news media altogether. They get what information they need from the internet, newspapers, and word of mouth. People are just disgusted with the way TV news does business now. If the news isn't interesting enough to get ratings they'll make it interesting by exaggerating and outright lying.

by Anonymousreply 170February 3, 2022 4:00 PM

R71 Yes. Candy Crowley was fat, but she was smart, asked good questions, showed experience, and the couch potatoes watching her liked her and could relate.

She was better than the legion of bimbo and twerps that have followed.

CNN once did international news very well. They need to get back to that. Zuckerberg did damage as the CEO.

by Anonymousreply 171February 3, 2022 4:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 172February 3, 2022 4:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 173February 3, 2022 4:24 PM

Back in the day when anything happened you always turned to CNN, no matter where it was happening in the world. I think that's why I still pay. Which is stupid, because it's bascially talk radio on TV. And it's getting more and more bizarre, especially some of the odd choices on Anderson. He's got these little pet guests, like that minister, that hold him in thrall. I guess that's why I liked Smerconish substituting... it was substantive without being dull.

by Anonymousreply 174February 3, 2022 4:27 PM

[quote]Fox is #1 because the unintelligent, uneducated, and bigoted are glued to FAUX News because they tell them what they want to hear.

"Tucker Carlson’s primetime show was the top-rated news show among Democrats between 25-54."

by Anonymousreply 176February 3, 2022 8:53 PM

R168, there is nothing lazier than the people who use "both sides" nonsense. So stupid to convince oneself that what Tucker Carlson or Ingraham or Hannity do is the same as what anyone at MSNBC does.

No, Rachel Maddow teaching you the history of what happened in/on Tulsa's Black Wall Street. is not quite the same as Carlson spreading his legs for a Hungarian fascist and praising him for his authoritarian moves.

by Anonymousreply 177February 3, 2022 8:59 PM

MSNBC and CNN lie too. Look at how the Rittenhouse case was covered. They insisted to the bitter end that Rittenhouse was a domestic terrorist who was driven to the protest by his mom with the intent to kill.

The facts coming out did not change their narrative.

by Anonymousreply 178February 3, 2022 9:02 PM

[quote]Carlson spreading his legs for a Hungarian fascist and praising him for his authoritarian moves.

by Anonymousreply 179February 3, 2022 9:03 PM

I heard that MSNBC is thinking about hiring him for an executive position.

by Anonymousreply 180February 3, 2022 9:35 PM

Cuomo's argument that Zucker's conflict of interest was as bad as his own was bullshit. Zucker's situation created the appearance of impropriety and possible liability for hostile environment sexual harassment. Chris Cuomo's situation perverted journalism.

As the situation develops, it may be that Gollust's prior relationship with Andrew Cuomo gave Chris Cuomo a free pass.

Both Cuomo and Zucker had to go. It's Gollust's turn next. Allyson Camerata is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 183February 4, 2022 5:50 AM

I watch "The Five" sometimes just to see their take on things and how Greg whathisface reacts to it. The smugness and conspicuous manipulation of information have to be seen to believe. It really is jaw-dropping at times.

I loves me some DirecTV news mix channel.

by Anonymousreply 184February 4, 2022 9:16 AM

by Anonymousreply 192February 4, 2022 11:06 PM

Jake Tapper’s true colors showing.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 207February 7, 2022 3:11 PM

Jake Tapper would be the same asshole who felt CNN wasn't being tough enough on the only two Muslim women in Congress. He constantly had Netanyahu's balls in his mouth. He and Blitzer have no business covering anything involving the Mideast conflict. It's like going to OANN for objective coverage of Trump.

by Anonymousreply 208February 7, 2022 3:49 PM

JAke is also a huge supporter of all things military, he "supports the troops." and ripped the skin off Biden for Afghanistan in an unrelenting attack. He goes for drama and hype over being a journalist so of course he would support Zucker who embraces that approach.

The Defense industry lobby is a very powerful lobby. In the confusion, everyone seemed to conveniently forget that Trump and Pompeo made the deal and set the timetable. The actual shutting down of operations preliminary to evacuation, started before Biden was President. And where was the media when fat ass Pompeo made the announcement. This didn't happen overnight. They knew.

And as I recall, the fucking transition was stalled by the Trumpaneros who believed the election was going to be overthrown. Jake and others in the media fed the foolish notion that Biden "could have stopped this" when in fact he could not. You cannot just walk in to a complex, ongoing process, and hold up your hand and say, "Stop. Let's wait." Half the stuff you need is already gone.

by Anonymousreply 209February 7, 2022 5:05 PM

Jake's odd. He comes across as holier-than-thou St. Journalist and a true Puritan, so I thought he'd think Zucker had to go. I don't doubt he despises the ego and mugging that was the Cuomo hour (I did too) but I assumed he'd be primly supportive of Zucker being exiled from the garden too.

by Anonymousreply 210February 7, 2022 5:13 PM

Jake poses as anti establishment and claims he goes after all sides without fear or favor. But he was kissing Zucker's ass and resented Chris being so prominent while his brother was governor. He felt that the separation between the bothers was insufficient, and resented the fact that it was allowed. He's not anti establishment, in real life he is an ass kisser. and he is vey contradictory. If he resented Chris Cuomo because of the proximity between the newsmaker brother and the "journalist" brother, then he should also resent Zucker who made it all happen and condoned it.

by Anonymousreply 211February 7, 2022 5:29 PM

Oh, my, things just seem so volatile at CNN. It is causing me great anxiety. Lots of negative vibrations and meanness. I certainly hope Andy stays far away from all that.

by Anonymousreply 212February 7, 2022 5:32 PM

Notice how Anderson Cooper has stayed the fuck out of this mess…

by Anonymousreply 213February 7, 2022 6:39 PM

If it doesn't highlight his biceps, he's not interested.

by Anonymousreply 214February 7, 2022 6:42 PM

Anderson is a smart little grasshopper. And he ALWAYS benefits from being smart. Granny always told me, "y'all don't have to jump up and start dancin' every time you hear the music..." He was very straight forward about it when he appeared on Stephen Colbert. He sort of gently nudged Chris Cuomo, (his "friend") under the bus, but did it in a kind way...I like how he handles himself. I will admit, I would like to handle himself too.

by Anonymousreply 215February 7, 2022 6:48 PM

From R207 article - "Acosta — who is CNN's Chief Domestic Correspondent — said Zucker's resignation will have a domino effect, likely forcing the network to face "pretty serious consequences."

"If we had not had Jeff Zucker here during the Trump administration, we probably would have been taken out," he said. "You would have something like 'Fox News Light' on CNN right now, no offense."

The general consensus is that Zucker is the one responsible for bringing us trump. CNN's ratings really tanked after he left office, but whatever. I'm not sure we'll ever get a clear picture as to what was going on at CNN over the past few years.

by Anonymousreply 216February 7, 2022 6:58 PM

I would like to see Jim Acosta and Anderson in a flex off. Who has the bigger biceps?

by Anonymousreply 217February 7, 2022 7:01 PM

It's like fucking Jonestown.

by Anonymousreply 218February 7, 2022 7:03 PM

Maybe Acosta is referring to the Right Wing Extremist Billionaire Trump Supporter on the board who is happy Zucker left and wants CNN to be better. He hated Chis Cuomo too. He is also a Media Mogul and he is a vile bastard. I forgot his name.

I'm confused, between the people saying he pushed Trump in a chase for rating and those saying he was forced out for not being Trumpy enough. I guess they could both be true—i.e. he gave Trump CNN airtime but it wasn't enough for rightwing board members.
