Historic bridge to be dismantled for Jeff Bezos' new yacht
A massive steel bridge in Rotterdam is to be partly demolished so that the pleasure yacht being built for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos can sail through it to the sea. The 'Koningshavenbrug' was renovated in 2017 and the city council pledged at the time it would never be dismantled again. That promise is now set to be broken to let Bezos’ yacht through.
Bezos’ three-masted yacht (cost: about $485 million) is being built by the Oceano shipyard in Alblasserdam but is too big to pass under the bridge when the central section is raised to its full height. Now Oceano and Bezos have approached the council about temporarily dismantling the bridge at their cost.
I guess money talks...

That's not even close to the only alternative. Tow the yacht before it's fully completed and still short enough to go under the bridge, get past said bridge, THEN finish building it.
They very deliberately chose to make the yacht that big before even consulting the city about the problem with the bridge, certain that the city would cave, and apparently they are. Pitiful.

I don’t see the problem. Bozo is paying for it, building that vulgar tub brought lots of jobs and tax money into Rotterdam during a pandemic, and the thing will be closed for one day. It’s a simple, sound business transaction, whether you like the guy or not.
