I was too old for Carmen Sandiego, but I watched it anyway because I liked The Chief.
Geez, she was so young to die in her early 50s

She was a very talented woman who died FAR too young. Enjoy her in Godspell!

She was really talented and had a great screen presence. It really is a shame she died relatively young. I think she would've continued to get work for many more years as an actor if she hadn't died.

She won the Tony in 1997. I'm sure she would've won more, and potentially even an Oscar, had she lived.

Fantastic, R1. I've always loved that movie (and the show). She was SUCH a good singer.

OMG, I used to love Where in the World is Carmen San Diego and the Chief and her unique voice always stood out. Indeed its a shame we lost her so young.

She was on All My Children in a short-term role as the aunt of Noah, the big hunk for that year. Her acting kind of blew him out of the water. She was great and hoped that she would end up with the show longer term. I am guessing she probably did not want to be on for years and did it between stage productions and other projects. I think that was pretty common with some of the short-term or recurring characters on the NYC soaps.

She was awesome. She had IT. Whenever I saw her in something I was happy to see her.

She was GREAT on All My Children. She played Leslie Uggams’ sister!!!

I thought you were calling Lynne a "bummer" and I was about ready to flip out on you, OP.

I loved Carmen Sandiego. Fun show with the guys singing and actually engaging you to think about geography. She was great in it.
I also remember her as a radio announcer in “The Warriors” movie. I don’t think you ever saw her face, just heard her silky voice.

She was so excellent as topDA on LA Law

She was Aunt Nell's sister on Gimme a Break. Nell hated her.
Come to think of it, that bitch hated everyone.

I remember my local PBS station aired Carman Sandeigo at either 1 or 1:30 against AMC, so I would flip from AMC during the commercials to watch her on PBS and I thought it was the funniest thing ever.

I loved her. It seemed like she was everywhere for awhile and I always made it a point to watch her, because she was so good. I was also too old for Carmen Sandiego but I watched it anyway.

Loved her.
But R9 having to announce she misread the OP's post and pronouncing her upset with the OP (not with her own stupidity) is a bit much in the "All Me - All The Time" realm.

Also so brilliant in Tintypes, in one of her first starring roles on Broadway. She sang the Bert Williams song "Nobody" and tore the house down.

I grew up watching Carmen Sandiego on PBS, but I’ll always remember her bitchy character vs Morgan Freeman’s Joe Clark in Lean on Me.

She also has that tiny cameo in TOOTSIE in Dorothy Michaels' soap audition and yet she's unforgettable.

I loved the Carmen Sandiego game show when I was younger. Her performance as the Chief is part of my childhood. I didn't know she died so young. What a downer.

Had she not died so young, i could see her on a high-quality HBO or AMC-type TV show

She was in one of those “Cagney and Lacey” TV movies in the 1990s. She played a police captain in a poverty stricken, crime filled district. She could throw a cold, mean stare. She was fierce! Her character was a lesbian with a girlfriend. When Mary Beth insulated that Chris issues with it, she said “Do you think I CARE who mows her lawn?!” It was hilarious….
