Two friends of mine- one a published professional fashion photographer, another a black bodybuilder. 2 photoshoots, both at the photographers studio. I was at both shoots. It was funny later on to see my black friend's photos be fawned over (and bought) by rich old straight people at gallery events. There were absolutely no negative repercussions whatsoever.

The photos were figurative not literal of the action in the play and the other subject’s face was hidden. It was like nude wrestling; we were both fit and in our mid-20s.

Years later I was semi-nude in a short film, down to my briefs. I’d been doing dedicated weight training for years and in the mid-to-late noughties used to have profiles on Big Muscle, Manhunt and Grindr so I would take nude selfies on occasion; sometimes I’d check into a hotel and set up a tripod, etc. and take a bunch of photos. I love speedos and underwear so I’d get a lot of different shots which I prefer to selfies with dirty bathroom mirrors and messy profiles. Around that time, I saw 3 or 4 of those photos on Tumblr with 100s sometimes 1,000s of likes - I saw the most popular one recently which was funny because it’s probably over 10 years old. I’m glad I have them.

As an actor, I would still do a nude scene if required. But only if it served a dramatic purpose, that’s always been the case. But once you do a nude scene, at least on stage and my experience, everyone thinks you’ll perform nude in any old shitty play. That’s not the case. The scene I did in my own play was harrowing and horrific, and in no way titillating. I would never do something exploitative where nudity was the point - and I was offered some of those jobs and turned them down.

I tend to agree with Gwyneth Paltrow on this: when required, nudity is just another costume.

Back when i was in high school. I cried while it happened, but now I realize how thrilling it was to have the chance to let the world see my beautiful breasts. But they never showed up again anywhere--I'm surprised everyone didn't clamor to see them.

I think it's great you did them and have them to look back on. I remember an interview with Madonna once where she was talking about part of the reason for doing Sex was that her body was in the best condition and there was an element of preserving that for her. I say go for it! There's a great photo book called "Naked Men" (and 'Naked Men 2") by David Leddick where they interview the men who posed for classic nude photos. They also show a recent portrait of the model today alongside the nude.

I was an art model for a few months. I was unemployed at the time and to be honest I didn't really need the money, I just did it for something to do. I was also about 25 lbs overweight and I didn't really care about that either. I'm in much better shape now so I'm in the minority here when I say I did it when I was young and not hot.
