I guess it’s part of the supply chain problem? When I lived in Manhattan everybody bought mallomars for blizzard food. None here in the burbs. I bet Manhattan Mallomars blizzard tradition died along with the middle class there.
I Couldn’t Find Mallomars For the Blizzard

I've heard of Mallomars before, but just looked them up then. I used to love those things, though here in Australia we call them "chocolate royals" and when I was in the UK, they called them "teacakes".
Looking at wikipedia it seems these are common all over the world with different names.

We'll do shortbread, tea cakes, and ginger ales for the children.

You sound lovely, Susan.

I looked them up and they are asking for outrageous prices for them online.
We have Nabisco Pinwheel cookies here but they are not the same.

Very true R7. The chocolate on Pinwheels is thinner, too sweet and just not as good, and the marshmallow in them is both fluffier yet sticker. It’s kind of amazing how much less satisfying eating a Pinwheel is compared to a Mallomar when on paper they seem almost identical.

What about Moon Pies?

Moon Pies are waaaaay too sweet to most people past puberty. I loved them as a kid but couldn’t finish one now. I can still eat a half box of Mallomars - they aren’t sugary at all. (Despite being mostly sugar.)

I tried one ONCE at age ten, and hated it for that reason. Also: it was the banana version, and I have an aversion to anything banana that isn't the fruit itself.
My father (who loved sweets his entire life) said that as a kid, he loved to have an RC Cola and a Moon Pie as a snack on occasion. The very thought makes me physically ill.
Side Note: I've never had a Mallomar. I don't mind marshmallow, but it isn't a favorite.

They haven’t been around for about a week at the UES Fairway. I know, because I wanted to get some.

Malamud, my favorite author.

I love Mallomars. They were available during the late fall early winter and then *poof* no more. I haven't seen them for weeks. I dig that they are "seasonal" and only available during the winter months... miss them.

R14, I've only seen them around Thanksgiving and then they're gone....until the next Fall. I didn't know there were wonderful places where you can purchase them well into the winter.
