Germany, like Europe at large, is dependent on Russia for natural gas. And some political leaders have warned against excluding Russian banks from the Swift payment transactions network, which handles global financial transfers, because it would harm Germany’s economic interests.

Our new government is half SPD half Grüne. (The FDP doesn't matter.) They both have a tradition in anti-imperialism which is of course anti American. Thus doesn't mean though that Putin's Russia doesn't scare the shit out of any remotely sane person. You really don't want to mess with Russia. Interfering in any way in the Ukraine seems about as sensible as reaching into a lawnmower. Personally, i think it's a shame nevertheless. We should stand united with Ukraine, France, any decent country and do what we can, even if it's embarrassingly little.

I said this in another thread about Germany- They don' want to anger Russia because Russia supplies a lot of Germany's natural gas and oil. If Germany encourages a boycott of Russia then Russian may cut off fossil fuels supplies to Germany and then Germany would be FUCKED.

How would you go about boycotting DHL, R29? Most of my preferred online retailers use FedEx or UPS but every now and then the only available option will be DHL. I am expecting a DHL package on Monday but this doesn’t happen often enough to be a problem for me - how would a DHL boycott work? Would you boycott the retailer who uses DHL for delivery?

The only corporations I have ever boycotted are Nestle, Coca Cola and Koch Industries. Nestle and Coke have have been surprisingly easy to avoid but I still don’t know everything the Kochs own.
