‘Jeopardy!’ Record Breaker Amy Schneider Signs With CAA (Exclusive)

Record-breaking Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider wrapped up her historic 40-game winning streak Wednesday evening. And while her gameplay has come to an end for now, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Schneider has signed with CAA.

Schneider is the most successful woman ever to compete on Jeopardy! and ranks as No. 2 on Jeopardy!’s all-time consecutive wins list, with her winnings totaling $1.4 million. In overall wins, the Oakland-based engineering manager is behind only Ken Jennings (74 straight), who took over part-time hosting duties after the death of longtime host Alex Trebek.

Schneider’s winnings put her among the top four highest-winning contestants during regular-season play, behind Jennings ($2,520,700), James Holzhauer ($2,462,216) and Matt Amodio ($1,518,601).

She will compete in the next edition of Jeopardy!’s “Tournament of Champions” this fall, where she will face off against Amodio, who previously held the No. 2 spot in all-time consecutive wins with 39.

On a Jan. 26 telecast, Schneider lost to challenger Rhone Talsma, a Chicago-based librarian.

“It’s really been an honor. To know that I’m one of the most successful people at a game I’ve loved since I was a kid and to know that I’m a part of its history now, I just don’t know how to process it,” Schneider said in a statement after last night’s show.

CAA is gross. A bunch of weak gays yielding all power to the trans mafia. This is a fucking revolution that demands a reactionary one. You cannot fucking choose your gender. To think so is fucking insanity and delusion. Ryan Murphy should be hung in the streets. Along with all the CAA actresses co-signing their childrens’ trans mental illness. And sadly no one is pushing back against this. It’s so fucking dark.

I found this clip from 2015 of a woman with the same name as Amy's ex-wife (when she was Thomas E. Schneider): Kelly Anneken. She talks about how she and her husband have a polyamorous marriage.

It's in the San Francisco area, and they did move to the Oakland area at some point. She indicates they've been married for 10 years, which lines-up with their marriage date (2004).

Why do we need her dad’s obituary on DL.

this a new level of stalking and I’m extremely uncomfortable with it.

Male Amy really doesn't look that different.

She's not the most successful woman to play on Jeopardy, he is the fourth best man.

I'm guessing he will pop up as a guest star on some episodes of shows, "why, it's the most winningest woman on Jeopardy, here in this barber shop getting a shave! She's so stunning and brave!"

by Anonymousreply 20January 29, 2022 8:28 AM

R12 There's no such thing as "cis contestants". If you mean regular people who don't have obvious deep-seated mental health issues, then maybe.

by Anonymousreply 21January 29, 2022 8:29 AM

Whether she's a woman or a man, she did very well for herself. Or "that person" did very well for themselves... Admit it, Amy did a hell of a job on "Jeopardy" and her being trans has nothing to do with it. She did very, very well.

by Anonymousreply 22January 29, 2022 8:35 AM

R22 No one has said he didn't do very, very well. Not sure why you feel the need to defend them using a strawman.

by Anonymousreply 23January 29, 2022 8:43 AM

What does it need an agent for? Is it a Creative Artist?

by Anonymousreply 24January 29, 2022 10:22 AM

Who is the most successful woman of Jeopardy? This man isn’t it and I’d be pissed if I were her.

by Anonymousreply 25January 29, 2022 10:36 AM

Chasten Buttigieg is also repped by CAA.....He is a "teachers advocate", having spent entire months as a teacher in Hooterville Indiana. The fact that Chazzy doesn't leave home much tells me he probably has no one stupid enough to pay a 30 year old from Michigan to share any insights.

[quote] R22 No one has said he didn't do very, very well. Not sure why you feel the need to defend them using a strawman.

r23 It's the defender's distortion tactic and goal from the start: Pushing the conversation away from the exact controversial point that's totally wrong, anti-facts and anti-reality by bringing up other facts. "Whether... did very well for themselves... Admit it... being trans has nothing to do with it." Some of them show off their 'reasonable'-sounding version of wokeness by saying "I'm only against stuff where biological differences matter (sports) but I totally support this!".

No, this and sports are the same. People don't have a problem if they state facts like "first trans achieving this" or "this smart (or athletic) individual scored this much on their own merit". Sane people fight against the increasing propaganda lies to call men like this "first women" and put these males in the women's category. The same goes for counting certain male criminals as women (distortion of stats that should be factual).

by Anonymousreply 28January 29, 2022 11:35 AM

Can’t wait to watch the tournament of champions. I really enjoyed watching Amy and Matt Amodio’s respective runs this season. I know they got on some people’s nerves, but I liked them both just fine.

Exciting too that Jeopardy has a new winningest woman in Amy. I for one don’t think she needs to be murdered or called “it” for having the audacity to transition and live as a woman. I also don’t understand the comparison of a trivia contest to a physical sport — are women supposedly in a different caste of intellect than men now?

by Anonymousreply 29January 29, 2022 11:50 AM

[quote] are women supposedly in a different caste of intellect than men now?

No. This is simply a trans person's justified achievement to be celebrated. Nothing to do with women's.

by Anonymousreply 30January 29, 2022 11:55 AM

Breaking: Transwomen Are Men.

by Anonymousreply 31January 29, 2022 12:26 PM

What I liked about Amy is that she had grace and humility, and no annoying mannerisms and schtick like Amodio and Holzhauer. She just played the game with no BS.

by Anonymousreply 32January 29, 2022 12:34 PM

Sorry...Amy is not a biological, or born female....so I don't think the "first woman" counts. This is not to take away from her/his achievement on Jeopardy. It's not easy for anyone to get in the top five winners on Jeopardy.

by Anonymousreply 33January 29, 2022 12:44 PM

Amy is not a woman. Ergo, she cannot be the “first woman” anything. That said, Amy is a likable Jeopardy competitor. More power to Amy.

by Anonymousreply 36January 29, 2022 2:31 PM

Part of the goal is not giving any attempt at "passing" beyond the superficial, like growing your hair out and wearing lipstick. That way women are more uncomfortable, because they can clock you a mile away and know you're in their formerly-private spaces. And you know they know, which gives you a thrill.

by Anonymousreply 41January 29, 2022 5:00 PM

R38 r39 It's not the % of trans in a population that counts—it's the outlandishly disproportionate power this minuscule portion of the pop possesses to dictate policy in institutions countrywide, in corporate, the Biden administration, governments and agencies throughout Western countries, which is revolutionary.

Even more revolutionary is the trans proposition that the word “woman” means whatever a particular trans male says it means. Lady dicks. Surgically transing minors. Bio males who want pap tests, for validation, for fuck's sakes. Amy's twin sets and pearls are the least of it.

Here's an interesting Facebook post from Amy Schneider, shortly after transitioning:

[quote] Amy Schneider created a fundraiser for Trans Lifeline May 28, 2019

[quote] For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Trans Lifeline. As a few of you know, I've been going through a very difficult time the last few months, and this organization has been, well, a lifeline for me. It's looking like a tough road ahead for trans people, and we're going to need all the help we can get. Thanks!

[quote] Trans Lifeline is a national trans-led organization dedicated to improving the quality of trans lives by responding to the critical needs of our community with direct service, material support, advocacy, and education. Our vision is to end trans suicide and improve overall life-outcomes of trans people by facilitating justice-oriented, collective community aid.

Sounds like Amy is going to become an advocate/spokesperson for the trans community, hence the need for agency representation.

by Anonymousreply 52January 31, 2022 5:42 PM

I can't help think that 'he/she' just dressed up like a 'trans-whatever' to get the attention of the jeopardy contestant selection panel. Then when she later heard she was chosen, she thought 'oh shit, well I'm gonna have to wear woman's clothes on TV'. Then when she got in to a long run, she was thinking "fuck, I have nothing to wear!" I mean, wouldn't a season ed trans-whatever at least have more interest in make-up and clothes than she demonstrated for 30-odd shows?

by Anonymousreply 53January 31, 2022 5:43 PM

She seems like a nice lady!

by Anonymousreply 54January 31, 2022 6:10 PM

I'm with you R29. While I'm glad both Matt and Amy are finally gone since runaway games bore me to no end, I am looking forward to seeing them face off against each other in the TOC. Not to mention all the other stellar folks from this past season. It should be a very competitive tournament and I'm excited for it.

To all those people who began wondering if Jeopardy! may have been giving her just a wee bit of assistance for the sake of the trans 'revolution', I'd say this is it least a little evidence that the idea may not be so far fetched after all. I KNEW she would end up somehow getting a huge profile. And, here we are.

Gay men and lesbians matter not. Only trans.

[quote] 'Jeopardy!' winner Amy Schneider reveals what's next for her

Amy Schneider is no longer spending her days on the set of Jeopardy!, but she's not quite ready to resume her former life either.

The record-breaking contestant, who ended her streak of 40 wins Jan. 26, said Wednesday that she's taking a leave of absence from her job as a software engineer in Oakland, Calif.

"I thought I was going to be more excited to get back to my day job than it turns out I have been," Schneider revealed during a question and answer session with the New York Times on Twitter Spaces. "But I am going to be taking a leave of absence from that to kinda focus on this stuff and try to sort it all out and primarily... trying to put together a book proposal to see if that gets interest. That just really needs my focus."

Schneider was a hit on Jeopardy!, becoming the winningest woman in the show's history. She's also second on the list of contestants who won the most non-tournament games, the first openly transgender contestant to qualify for the Tournament of Champions and the fourth-ranked contestant on the list of those with the highest winnings during regular season play. Her takeaway was $1,382,800.

So, yes, the media coverage has been nonstop, even though Schneider expected that it would have died down by now.

"I also am having a lot of meetings with my agents, which is such a weird thing to hear myself say, but it's true," she said. "I signed with CAA" — the home of Tom Hanks, Zendaya, Reese Witherspoon and many more — "and they're, you know, excited about all kinds of different things."

She's also spending some of the cash that she accumulated.

"We went to this really fancy, boutique hotel in Half Moon Bay, Calif., last Saturday night, specifically for its giant bathtubs," Schneider responded to a question about her most frivolous purchase so far.

When Schneider was asked if she would consider competing on another game show, she seemed open, but confirmed reports that Jeopardy! contestants agree to wait six months before doing so.

"I have had some people express interest, and I was like, 'Get back to me in a few months. I'll see what I want to do,'" Schneider said. "I think I've already done the best one, as far as I'm concerned, so there is this, like, part of me that's like, 'Ah, it won't be as good.'"

Still, Jeopardy! was such a great experience for her that she's open to repeating it elsewhere.

First, of course, she'll compete in the next Tournament of Champions. The competitors she's most worried about facing are, in order, Matt Amodio, who sits just below her on that list of consecutive games won, and Andrew He, who Schneider defeated in her first game.
