People are upset Minnie Mouse’s outfit was permanently changed by Disney

She now wears a purple pant suit instead of her famous red dress.

Thoughts?

I'm all for a pantsuit but I wish they would have chosen a nicer color/pattern.

by Anonymousreply 1January 27, 2022 9:18 PM

I'm down with it.

I think any adult who gets upset about a cartoon mouse's clothes is mentally ill.

But I do think the blue-black combo feels kind of serious and executive-ish for a whimsical cartoon character. I can only assume Minnie is no longer whimsical, but I am in my 40s without kids and I don't care.

by Anonymousreply 3January 27, 2022 9:24 PM

No an improvement

by Anonymousreply 4January 27, 2022 9:25 PM

r4 is she transitioning?

by Anonymousreply 5January 27, 2022 9:25 PM

What happened to the bitch's eyebrows? is she becoming a chola, too?

by Anonymousreply 6January 27, 2022 9:27 PM

Fox News was losing it over this yesterday

by Anonymousreply 7January 27, 2022 9:29 PM

How dare of they. She's no longer Minnie. Call her Mimi or Mammy.

by Anonymousreply 8January 27, 2022 9:29 PM
"I am delighted to be working with the one, the only, the iconic Minnie Mouse," McCartney said in a statement. "Minnie has always had a special place in my heart. We share the same values. What I love about Minnie is the fact that she embodies happiness, self-expression, authenticity and that she inspires people of all ages around the world. Plus, she has such great style!"

I can't believe we live in a society where people have to release statements about "working with" carton mice. Yes, Minnie Mouse EMBODIES authenticity. Gurl.

by Anonymousreply 9January 27, 2022 9:30 PM

Would have been more of a power move to make her an actual relevant character with a personality and a story arc, like all the other core original D**neys...but...ok I guess...

by Anonymousreply 10January 27, 2022 9:31 PM

How come no one cared in the 90s when Minnie was wearing those pointy cone boobs that Madonna popularized?

by Anonymousreply 11January 27, 2022 9:31 PM

r9 Stella needs to be protested for stealing chola culture and trying to make it yt

Has anyone read the article? It's for Disney Paris' anniversary, not a permanent change.

by Anonymousreply 13January 27, 2022 9:35 PM

r13 Are you new here?

by Anonymousreply 14January 27, 2022 9:37 PM

R14 Good point.

by Anonymousreply 15January 27, 2022 9:37 PM

Whoa, that is an ugly suit.

I prefer Minnie's flapper look. She originated in the 20s, after all.

(Who knew a cartoon mouse's fashion sense was such serious business?)

by Anonymousreply 16January 27, 2022 9:39 PM

Why do people not know how much these characters' looks change over time?

by Anonymousreply 22January 27, 2022 9:47 PM

Find it hard to believe she & Mickey have been monogamous and together all these decades. Don’t they get bored? Aren’t they seeing other people on the side?

by Anonymousreply 23January 27, 2022 9:54 PM

Stella McCartney is a shit designer, the most overrated designer of all time.

nonbinaries are loving the change and have begun flooding nonbinary flags in the shape of minnie's head and bow. According to those on twitter, the blue is a shout out to them.

by Anonymousreply 26January 27, 2022 10:00 PM

Minnie's looking a bit lipstick lesbian in that pants suit.

by Anonymousreply 27January 27, 2022 10:01 PM

Corporates being cute and acquisitive. Not cool.

by Anonymousreply 28January 27, 2022 10:02 PM

Dear R23,
Although house mice can be either monogamous or polygamous, they are most commonly polygamous. They generally show characteristics of mate-defense polygyny in that males are highly territorial and protective of their mates, while females are less agonistic.

It's for a month. Christ almighty I wish Candace would walk in front of a bus. Anorexic hack

by Anonymousreply 37January 28, 2022 12:09 AM

In a year, she'll be in a wheelchair. This costume change has a higher purpose.

by Anonymousreply 38January 28, 2022 12:13 AM
It's for a month.

Exactly, r37. Makes one wonder what OP's agenda is to state it's permanent.

by Anonymousreply 39January 28, 2022 12:13 AM

No adult should care about this. Fun fact: early Mickey Mouse cartoons from the late 1920s had smoking, drinking, sexual harassment, animal cruelty and racist blackface caricatures. More along the lines of Felix, Betty Boop and Popeye adult humor. Then Walt decided to target Mickey to kids and cleaned up his image.

Next month Minnie will have a fibromyalgia flare and have to cradle a mug while she shares her journey to recovery. She will be wearing yoga pants made from responsibly sourced fabrics and a tshirt with "live! love! laugh!" scrawled across the front.

by Anonymousreply 43January 28, 2022 12:31 AM

I don't care about the costume change but the darker colors were a bad choice. Why not the same color pattern but just as a pantsuit. Very dour.

by Anonymousreply 44January 28, 2022 12:35 AM

Between Candace, Jesse and Tucker who has the most textbook fetal alcohol syndrome face?

by Anonymousreply 45January 28, 2022 12:37 AM

One thing I've noticed is every Disney movie gets the clothing of the era wrong and always aims to make the characters act more modern of the time. They always act like American teenagers with independent streaks. Obviously to make it more relatable but jarring if you're a history buff.

by Anonymousreply 46January 28, 2022 12:50 AM

It's actually more revealing of her sexy MOUSE curves!!!

by Anonymousreply 47January 28, 2022 12:54 AM

That guy at R18 is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 48January 28, 2022 12:59 AM

Conservatives love Disney movies because they are stereotypical, cliche, reinforce gender roles and racism and play into the American Dream narrative.

I know modern ones have changed that. But it's not surprising Disney is so popular with conservative. The MAGAts were the ones crying about Disneyland and Disney World being shut down.

by Anonymousreply 49January 28, 2022 1:00 AM

The work of gender studies graduates in middle management.

Nothing to see here.

They probably have the same strange, unnamed "mental illness" as people who get tattoos!

by Anonymousreply 58January 28, 2022 10:47 AM

I don’t think it’s because it’s just any cartoon. They wouldn’t care if it was Elsa. It’s because it’s an iconic cartoon like Minnie Mouse, who has been around for almost 100 years.

by Anonymousreply 59January 28, 2022 10:58 AM

Why did they have to change the color and pattern so dramatically? She looks depressed. I have no problem with the pantsuit but I don't get the overall design.

by Anonymousreply 60January 28, 2022 11:24 AM

Typical frogs promoting cultural Marxism! Bring Disney home to AMERICA!!

*Pelts screen with Great Value Mac&Cheese*

by Anonymousreply 61January 28, 2022 11:29 AM

At least THIS Mouse isn't topless!

by Anonymousreply 62January 28, 2022 11:32 AM

OP: I assume you are using the term "People" loosely.

by Anonymousreply 63January 28, 2022 11:34 AM

"Change" is way overrated in general.

by Anonymousreply 64January 28, 2022 11:35 AM

I think any adult who thought Minnie the Mouse was too sexy is mentally ill.

by Anonymousreply 67January 28, 2022 12:33 PM

Definitely Not a fan of the dark pantsuit. Classic Minnie Mouse in her iconic white polka dot red dress is very whimsical, super sweet and appeals to everyone's inner child. Classic Minnie projects innocence and happiness and optimism. Dark Pantsuit Minnie totally destroys and shatters all that. Bring back Classic Minnie.

by Anonymousreply 68January 28, 2022 12:41 PM

Couldn't they at least brighten up the color and/or use multiple colors? I honestly don't like it (but not for Fox's reasoning), it's just too dark and drab. It almost looks like goth pajamas.

by Anonymousreply 69January 28, 2022 12:46 PM

I like Classic Minnie and Mickey from the cartoon at r40.

Minnie also stood up for herself so she is a hero to women standing up to horny mice everywhere.

But she also appeared in her bloomers and without, so she's a huge slut!

by Anonymousreply 70January 28, 2022 12:46 PM

Stella McCartney really is one of the luckier people on the planet.

by Anonymousreply 71January 28, 2022 12:51 PM

r13's reaction was my first reaction too. I can see the Fox freaks getting worked up over this non-event but it's always a shock when DLers willingly buy into the fake outrage just to have something to talk about.

by Anonymousreply 72January 28, 2022 12:56 PM

From fabulous Miss Lindz during Ladybug 🐞 time, to the business-like Hillary Clinton look; Minnie, instead, needs to go Caitlyn, glamorous and voluptuous.

by Anonymousreply 73January 28, 2022 12:57 PM
She looks depressed.

It's a cartoon character.

All Stella did was make some basic "opposite" changes. Is she in a dress? Then give her a pantsuit. Are the colors bright? Then make them dark. Et voila, fashion genius!

by Anonymousreply 74January 28, 2022 12:58 PM

R72 some of them are right wingers who have permanently joined us here, so it's not that surprising. And some think it's fun to make jokes and hyperbolize in threads like this. And then there's fraus such as yourself who can't stand levity and humor when it is around certain topics that touch on Democratic memes, and are here to finger-wag at the rest of us.

by Anonymousreply 75January 28, 2022 12:59 PM

I'm the moderne Coco Chanel!

by Anonymousreply 76January 28, 2022 1:00 PM

Where don't you get that this is only for a month, r68?

by Anonymousreply 77January 28, 2022 1:59 PM
All Stella did was make some basic "opposite" changes. Is she in a dress? Then give her a pantsuit. Are the colors bright? Then make them dark. Et voila, fashion genius!

"If it's bright, make it dark, if it's a dress make it a pantsuit?" [italic]This[/italic] is your idea of "fashion genius?" Seriously? Do you know how stupid you sound?
It's a cartoon character.

Wow, we've got another Albert Einstein on our hands.

by Anonymousreply 78January 28, 2022 2:44 PM

Can anyone find footage of Candace sounding anything but unhinged? Can't you imagine this bitch screaming about wilted lettuce on a Big Mac or a grocery store being out of whatever weird anorexic thing she allows herself? She just can't sound sane. Her poor kid and gay husband.

by Anonymousreply 79January 28, 2022 3:23 PM
I can see the Fox freaks getting worked up over this non-event but it's always a shock when DLers willingly buy into the fake outrage just to have something to talk about.

No one has been getting "worked up" over this. Fox has mocked it as any sane person would. Good for them.

You have to be pretty idiotic to think that Minnie Mouse was too sexy and needs to be dressed like Janet Reno.

It's like something out of the Onion.

by Anonymousreply 80January 28, 2022 3:38 PM

Looks like something the Disney PR department came up with and just paid McCartney for her name.

by Anonymousreply 81January 28, 2022 5:50 PM

R78, I'd like to introduce you to sarcasm, I know, the pleasure is all yours.

by Anonymousreply 82January 28, 2022 8:48 PM

i don’t care what some cartoon character wears, but that is one very ugly pantsuit.

by Anonymousreply 83January 29, 2022 1:14 AM
