What's your favorite chocolate bar?

I like KitKat but it gives me lots of gas, for some reason.

I tend to choose peanut M&Ms instead

I'm not averse to a chocolate wax flavor one in a while.

I've eaten expensive, rich, creamy, dark chocolate and loved every bite, but my heart always will belong to the mass-produced Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

Preferably frozen so I can bite of the border of chocolate around the peanut butter cup then go to town on the peanut butter.

I ate a bar from Whole Foods called Ruby Chocolate--it was awesome. Apparently that's its natural flavor.

I'm not really a chocolate person really, but I can eat 20 of these easily if I don't control myself.

R3, R7 what about Trader Joe’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups? They are like crack to me! I love those even better than Reeses!

The only time I ever buy chocolate bars is Halloween for the trick or treaters and then over the following weeks will eat the leftovers. Mini Three Musketeers, so expensive compared to the full size bars when I was a kid.

Lindt. And M&Ms are surprisingly not too bad.

If I'm just eating supermarket chocolate I buy Lindt. I like the Hazelnut and the Orange dark chocolate. But that's as cheap as I go. I get something from Whole Foods and never anything less than 60-70% chocolate.

I was just thinking I am longing for a site to order a good chocolate bar from - because I'm out of ideas. I like Lindt, the milk chocolate, plain old Hershey, and Lake Champlain. Whole foods has a ton of organic chocolates but many of them frankly lack a nice taste. There's also a mint dark chocolate that comes in a green/black wrapper, can't remember the name.

Munsons has nice quality chocolate overall but it's not organic. It is damn tasty. I find Cadbury sickly sweet. Sees makes nice little chocolate bars.

r9, I don't have a Trader Joes near me, but I'm on the search for a dark chocolate peanut butter cup that I like. I've tried a few and it seems like the flavor of the dark chocolate overwhelms the peanut butter flavor.

If I'm ever near a Trader Joes, I'll try those.

In the last few years Whole Foods seems to have gone very heavily into raw chocolates, or chocolates sweetened with stevia. They can keep them.

Hu Kitchen (Back To Human) chocolates are awesome. Organic, high quality ingredients, no refined sugars or emulsifiers. Totally delicious.

unrefined coconut sugar is infinitesimally different than good cane sugar, in the grand scheme of what you put in your mouth, but you go on believing in the toxicity of "refined sugar".

This is the only specific origin chocolate range I've tasted where the different field notes are strongly to the fore - and I've tasted several of the high end French ranges. It's absolutely delicious, although I haven't tasted the full range.

Gudrun chocolate, while technically not a 'bar', is the most delicious chocolate I've ever eaten.

If I'm just satisfying a chocolate craving, Hershey's Special Dark will do.

If it's a 'confection' I'm looking for, then any of several - Hershey's 5th Avenue, Reeses Big Cup, Butterfinger, or Chase Cherry Mash.

Those are good quality but they're a million calories. ( I do try to watch my lovely figure)

I prefer the Reese's dark chocolate to all of the "equivalents." There's something about the texture of the peanut butter (flakey, almost) and the saltiness of it that is just right.

R47 I had the same experience shopping for a little chocolate gift for a friend and the prices were ridiculous.

Not exactly a "bar" but I love Perugina's Baci from Italy - praline, chocolate & hazelnut with an added bonus of a hidden note to unwrap.

I used to love Sweet Marie chocolate bars but I haven't seen them in years.

I very rarely indulge (staying fit and trim in LA) but maybe once every couple of years a Mars, Almond Joy, Milky Way, or peanut M&Ms.

Honest to God, every fucking time I have bought a bag of those Dove single-bite chocolates, there are WORMS in them. Look it up on line. After two such experiences, I thought I was going crazy. But apparently they have had trouble keeping bugs out of their manufacturing process. Not sure what they are. Pantry moth larvae? Ick! Never again. I found a chocolate produced by a native American tribe in Oklahoma -- brand name Beltre. I read about the history of the company: it uses old-0world recipes and methods brought over from Germany, apparently. The stuff is absolutely delicious and not waxy at all. Who'd a thunk it? I found it being sold at one of the largest, nicest, best-appointed, and cleanest rest stops in Oklahoma on my way back to Dallas on some road trip. I was starving. I'm thinking of making a road trip to visit where it's made. Kinda dorky, but why not!?

The other day I was in home depot and went by the bird food section and there was a clear plastic bag of dried worms. I nearly hurled.

I am very picky when it comes to chocolate. Dove and Lindt are pretty good, and my favorite would be Bissinger's coconut caramel. Godiva is overrated and Hershey's tastes like waxy vomit.

I love Lindt sea salt and caramel dark chocolate bars. Also, Take 5, which is chocolate, pb, caramel and pretzels, literally candy bar perfection. Third is an addiction from my youth, the 100 Grand bar. We had to sell those for school fundraisers each year, but indubitably, I’d eat my own box myself. An addiction was born.

My go to is Lindt but white chocolate Kit Kat’s are surprisingly good too.

IKEA has a hazelnut bar thars addictive. If only I didn’t have to park 3 miles away just to buy it.

KitKat used to be my favorite but the American ones now taste like plastic and are awful. However the ones in the UK taste exactly how I remember them from many years ago, with a nice cocoa flavor.

Fifteen or so years ago Michel Cluizel was all the rage but that was before the market was glutted with fancy chocolate bars.

R86 Sorry, these last several months I've been reading up on all the bad processed oils that cause so much problems with people's health. Canola and palm oils are among the very worst.

Palm oil has environmental concerns not necessarily health concerns and there are very high quality palm oils that one would presume the premier Zurich chocolatier would buy. Coconut oil's melt point is 76°F - not idea for bar chocolate.

Palm oil is very bad for the both the environment (deforestation) and bad for people's health as it is highly processed with hexane. Companies use it because it is a very cheap oil and because it is highly processed it has a long self life. Only organic red palm oil can be considered healthy, but it is rarely used because it significantly more expensive.
