I was at the gay ski week in 1997 or 8 and had an issue with my bag not maki g the connection and had to go to the American baggage claim desk to file a report. While there another obviously gay guy walked in and started talking to the desk agent. As they were talking his nose started slowly bleeding and he didn’t even notice it. The black female baggage agent looked at him and said, “Honey, you can’t be doing all that stuff like you do down at sea level.” He looked like he wanted to crawl under the counter and die but I thought it was hilarious!

Back then it seemed like more powder was being put up the attendees’ noses than was on the slopes.

I’m guessing the slopes are divided up not by skiing ability but by body fat %. Got to keep the abs bros together

The circuit scene is very white, but honestly the biggest lack of diversity is body type. If you don't have a fit bod then you really aren't welcome.

I was never part of that. Didn't have the bod then and past it now (I will not be the 40 year old in an Abercrombie T at anything.) Can anyone describe it? What do you get from it? What's the experience like of being in a crowd that is so similar in looks and, I guess outlooks? Is it a phase? Is it fun? Is it exciting, nights full of thumpa thumpa thumpa music? I have the same questions about the Atlantis cruise. That experience kind of mystifies me. I am guessing a sense of belonging but doesn't it get boring fast? Is it just the enthusiasm of being young? Help me out here. Maybe I was too geeky to ever have enjoyed it when I was young enough to even if I did have the build. It was something I never understood and never felt welcome at.

I’m a runner with an athletic build, but it has never dawned on me to consider athleticism or weight as criteria for selecting friends.

I don't go to gay ski events, but were I to go, my fat friends, my women friends, my straight friends, my friends who share career and intellectual interests, my friends who are in their 90s, my younger friends who couldn't afford it, my friends with bad knees, my friends from countries where skiing isn't much of an interest...you get the idea. The gay ski weekend photo wouldn't be anything near a broad picture of my friends.
