Took a low dose adderall today and felt better than I have in years. Lifted my mood, took away my social anxiety, gave me motivation. Is there any way to continue this without becoming a speed junkie? I’m thinking of getting a prescription.
Adderall for Depression

No, OP. But I actually believe in this off-label use. You will know if you’re going to have a problem before you do this drug — do I like to go uptown or downtown? If you are a speed freak, I wouldn’t recommend playing with Adderall. I am both chronically in pain and depressed, which is why I’ve experimented. I think if you have a healthy relationship with a shrink that it should be prescribed for people who are wired like you (and me).

Yup, I was prescribed adderall for depression and it was the worst thing to ever happen. Once I came off it my metabolism and energy levels were never the same. I had no addiction issues with it but I know people who were also prescribed it and had a hell of a time stoping.

If you go down this course, OP, find a good shrink who will closely supervise you. There are cases of people being prescribed stimulants who experience psychotic episodes. A couple of those episodes and they won't let you near adderall or anything like it again.
Good luck.

OP have you tried modafinil or armodafinil? More expensive but much safer.

I took this for depression and fatigue years ago, I eventually went off it once I hit 40 as it was affecting my sleep too much. You would have to find a psychiatrist that will prescribe it for you.

Ultimately long term it isnt worth it.

I use it for legit ADD, but also Trintellex. It does help me get out of bed in the AM.
Happy journey to you.

Someone has suggested I look into it for adult ADHD (female) and depression, but I have my doubts and concerns as my metabolism is horrible, I tend toward insomnia and episodes of hyperfixation, and my hormones are all over the place on a normal day. I don't want to go all Prozac Nation. My record with prescribed drugs such as BC isn't great, my body seems to react violently to chemical changes both manufactured and natural.

Adderall is speed. Soon you'll take more and then add Ambien to sleep because you're amped, then both dosages increase over time and then you're basically Elvis, Marilyn and Judy and you lose your mind.
I've had quite a number of friends diagnosed with ADD over the years go down the toilet after years of cycling speed and sleeping pills.

OP, I am an expert with this. Yes, ADD meds do work for depression. I took them for many years. I learned the lowest possible dose was enough for me. I would cut a 10mg pill in half and take half.
I also learned that Namebrand Adderall was more effective than Generic. Namebrand calmed my mind. Generic made me feel like I drank a pot of coffee.
Experiment with your doctor.
Oh! They all have sexual side effects. You won't be able to get hard until the medication wears off at the end of the day, but I was glad I couldn't jerkoff. I got more done!

R9 Adderall doesn't affect you like that. No one is "jonesing" for Adderall. That's a myth. But the time of day you take it is important. Take it in the morning first thing (for Extended Release) and it will wear off by 4 pm.
And don't take it on the weekends. Give your system a break and time to reboot.

I have friends who take it. I don’t know if others have noticed this, but it really changes your personality. My friends used to be sort of normal, chill people (for New Yorker’s). Now they seem agitated, they talk all the time without listening, very grandiose and fixated on themselves. I don’t know if it’s the meds or they have just change over time. But I notice pretty much all my friends on Adderall are very hard to converse with. And they are all single.

Try Cymbalta, OP. Not as speedy as Adderall but great for depression and anxiety.

Amphetamines tend to have that effect. As others have said, it's not a workable solution, as it could end in psychosis.

Where can I get the stuff?
