He looked 88 in the last interviews I saw clips of - most of which came from Huckabee where he was a guest. I knew automatically he was unvaccinated and died of Covid.

Watching this video of my favorite song of his (with Cher, no less) and seeing him looking young made me sad. But also because so many of those guys behind him in 1981 probably died of AIDS long before COVID came along. Certainly blond Peter from the ZZ Top video and the double for Bacon in "Footloose" died early in the epidemic (you see him over Meatloaf's left shoulder once the real dancers move in). So much of what is going on now feels familiar, certainly if you were a young man living in L.A. in the early 80s.
