Catholicism fading in Latin America

Not even the Pope can save it.

This is not good because the alternative us Evangelism which is far worse. It's the religion of Trumpsters, white supremacists, anti-abortionists (I know), and violent homophobes which directly finances anti-LGBT policies around the world. Catholicism is way milder.

They should make communion crackers tastier and provide individual serving wine bottles instead of a communal backwash chalice.

They taste like Jesus - bland and doughy!

r1 the rise is actually towards islam not evangelism

The alternative to Catholicism is not necessarily Evangelism. It's either Protestantism (which has many sects that include Evangelism) or Orthodox (which has no more appeal than Catholcism) or it's atheism. Most young people are not religious at all and more Latin Americans will simply become irreligious just like North Americans.

I imagine like France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, most Latin Americans will become essentially agnostic or atheist but still remain culturally Catholic. They are Protestants in Latin America and they are growing up but I highly doubt they will reach the majority and they will just be an annoying vocal minority just like in The US, UK and Australia.

r5 like North America, they're experiencing record breaking immigration and many of it's young people are drawn to politics of Islam, helped in large part by the large populations in South America, primarily Palestinian and international campus activism and it's influences around the world. This increase has gained greater attention in both the states and south of the border over the past seven years.

There's also the undercurrent of neopagan occultism attributed to ancient civilizations among it's prominent socialist circles, though it's also considered something of a joke to the rest because the most cited claims are of the Aztecs far outside of where they dwelled. But those concerned by that rise are among the Yoruba, Santeria and other Afro influenced religions in which they see it as a far left populist movement not only targeting 'gringos' but them as well. It's been enough of a concern that several countries greenlit grants for media and entertainment to showcase these demographics. Also attributed, in part, to why many refugees in Central & South America are making their way to the U.S. border as hostility and divisions grow among both the right and the left in South America. . . but some (albeit, largely the the conservatives) would attribute that to the problems of Venezuela & taking in some refugees from the early crisis, there has been allegations of political disrupters infilitrating genuine refugees in order to destabilize surrounding governments - which weren't that stable to begin with.

all of which has risen in popualrity with musicians and online influencers.. taking to some of the greater absurdist plots is like the height of the corruption protests in Colombia last year. Which, honestly, I'm a bit surprised didn't result in greater international pressures against it's govt. But having lacked it too long, conspiracies among the people began to set in. Almost makes one long for former Sec. Clinton's days (see honduras).

Catholicism is not more liberal than Protestantism. Poorer countries and rural populations tend to be more conservative. Protestant countries in Europe tended to be more liberal. American Catholics were a minority group comprised of immigrants from Ireland, Poland and Italy and they mostly lived in urban areas thus aligned with more liberal politics as most urban dwellers of all denominations do. But in rural areas that had Catholic majorities like Maryland and Louisiana, they would be just as conservative as their Protestant counterparts. The original major supporters of the anti-abortion movement were Catholic Americans. Protestant groups didn't start becoming pro-life until the later 20th century as a backlash against the women's rights and Civil Rights movement which caused Evangelism.
