The only one I can think of so far is St. Elsewhere.

A Year in the Life ran for just one season, 1987-88. A three-episode mini-series preceded it in 1986.

How come you never hear anyone waxing nostalgic for Cagney and Lacey?

Kate & Allie.
But don't go thinking they were lesbians. They were just sharing household expenses.

Perhaps the ultimate TV show of the '80s, Miami Vice.

I remember protesters in Manhattan when Meg Foster was still in the role of Cagney, picketing outside CBS headquarters, shouting "too butch! too butch!"

It's A Living, 1980-89.

A Year in the Life was an amazing show, and prior an amazing mini-series. I was very disappointed when it was cancelled by NBC after just one season. At least Richard Kiley won an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series that one year.

Bizarre (although the special pilot episode aired in 1979)
Solid Gold
Jennifer Slept Here (if we're counting one season wonders)
Too Close for Comfort
Frank's Place

It's amazing how much they relied on the "fish out of water" scenario for these sitcoms back in that era. Frank's Place, Diff'rent Strokes, Northern Exposure, etc.

Family Ties (1982-89). The essential Reagan sitcom.

Gimme a Break ran from 81 to 87.

A Team, Moonlighting, and Miami Vice, were huge shows that didn’t actually last that long.

Remington Steel
Pierce Brosnan looked so HOMOSEXUAL on that show.

Bosom Buddies only lasted 2 seasons lol. Even back then they knew it was offensive to trans and that it had to go.

Just watched a couple minutes of "Riptide". God that looks cheesy.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 19, 2022 1:16 AM |
Riptide looks like they combined A Team and MacGyver into one show.
