The Killing Fields is a damn good movie about the horrors of war. Ngor and Sam Waterston make the movie.

My favorite male supporting turn that year was given by Jeffrey Jones as Emperor Joseph II in Amadeus. He enacted the benevolent yet obtuse Teuton aristocratic middlebrow to perfection.
