Oh, dear cracker.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 17, 2022 10:34 PM |
Triscuit reduced sodium variety are my favourite. I find the regular ones too salty now. Plus you're adding extra salt when you add cheese to them anyway.

Cracked pepper water crackers!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 17, 2022 10:47 PM |
These are my favorite crackers ever. I like them with Muenster cheese the most but will eat them with jam or any cheese or just the crackers.

The tastes of cracker brands has entirely changed from the 70s. Sociables used to have a great peppery taste, now they have no taste at all. Ritz crackers are now thicker. I preferred Cheese Nips to Cheez-its. Old London has changed the taste of its melba toast. Everything tastes so much more starchy, and I don't like it.
Yes, I'm a crabby old man who hates everything newfangled. Give me what I used to know.

Underrated cracker snack - Better Cheddars.

Why are oyster crackers so difficult to find nowadays? Trader Joe's stopped selling them years ago. Now I can't find them in my neighborhood supermarkets.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 15, 2022 11:04 PM |
I always serve my chili with oyster crackers.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 15, 2022 11:14 PM |
I always have a box of Nabisco Saltines in my house for soup or for hummus. Recently, my grocery store hasn't had them and has removed their placeholder from the cracker aisle. Anyone know if there's some kind of shortage?

And just like that, it became an Aldi thread.

If you guys & Gals really love Cracker like that. You should try Paula Deens Georgia Cracker salad.
And yes, it actually exists. 😆
by Anonymous | reply 66 | March 20, 2022 5:07 AM |
I love this thread. I love Better Cheddars. I love cracked pepper water crackers. I also just love crackers. When you can find them, ShopRite has a fairly new fancy cracker collection that is like $2 something. I was just enjoying some of those with mild cheddar. I should have bought sharp, but they were still delicious. I didn't know there were other cracker fans out there.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | March 20, 2022 5:18 AM |
My favorite snack is crackers, cheese and olives. Different ones for variety. The day my supermarket added an olive bar I wanted to jump in the air and click my heels.
And add me to the Better Cheddar Fan Club.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | March 20, 2022 9:32 AM |
I usually don't buy crackers because I inhale them. I love Carrs plain old water crackers, but I also like the cracked pepper variety as well.
I'm a Cheese Nip fan over Cheezits which, to me, tend to be quite salty. I've never had Better Cheddars...are they like a Cheese Nip/Cheezit type cracker?
I haven't had Chik'n in a Basket crackers for years, but those things are like crack for me. They probably changed the flavor since I last had them.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 20, 2022 9:52 AM |
Chicken in Bisket are the bomb. Tastes the same as it always has.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 20, 2022 10:17 AM |
I had no idea Chicken in a Bisket is flavored with real chicken. I thought it was all chemicals. I can't eat them now as I am on a strict diet but they were a guilty pleasure at one point. I always they were trashy, but so good.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 20, 2022 10:32 AM |

Crackers are comfort food. I like Ritz Cheese it's and a handful of other Crackers. They can also be filling if there's nothing else around to eat.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 20, 2022 9:38 PM |
Love this thread because indeed I love to obsess about my specific favorite kind of cracker. Which is…
Nabisco Unsalted Tops Saltines. The perfect amount of non-salt/salted ratio. I love eating them. There’s something so satisfying about the slightly buttery blandness, and they always settle my stomach. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and these are often the perfect companion to an acid-y digestive system.
I’ll eat a handful for breakfast, and they’re perfect for a late night snack. Nothing on them. I know they’re carb-y but I could do a lot worse. Satisfying on many levels.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 25, 2022 2:04 PM |
R77 Another example of removing the excess salt from a processed food and allowing the natural taste to come forward again. Even if it’s something very simple.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 25, 2022 2:05 PM |
Oh boy...the implications of OP's title. You can really run with it. I'll play along with the straight answers. I always loved Triscuits and Wheat Thins.

Trader Joe's had a Fig and Olive cracker I really liked.
I haven't been there in a while, do they still make those?
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 25, 2022 3:53 PM |
Occasionally, I like to get a little high and eat some Cheez-Its. Otherwise, I save crackers for Thanksgiving & Xmas.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 25, 2022 4:01 PM |
I like Cuban crackers the most. The taste is not so overwhelming and there's no salt, so it is the perfect vehicle for cheese or tapenade. My mom used to send these up to me when I was out of South Florida for school because I kept whining about how much I missed them. Second place goes to some dollar store crackers I had where I would just inhale the box as soon as I got them.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | March 25, 2022 4:06 PM |
I also like the reduced sodium Triscuits, as well as the reduced sodium Blue Diamond almond crackers. A discount grocery store I go to regularly has the Blue Diamond crackers for 99 cents, so I always stock up.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | March 25, 2022 4:08 PM |
I love crackwhores too.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | March 25, 2022 4:12 PM |
I'm totally weird, I know, but I make little PBJ sandwiches with low salt saltines or even Ritz.
Also...they're not exactly crackers, but you can make extra crunchy homemade Rusk by zapping any conventional balloon bread in a microwave (carefully).
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 25, 2022 6:42 PM |
My mom used to put chocolate icing on saltines as a snack for us kids. That zing of salt under the sweet was perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | March 26, 2022 12:07 AM |
You're not weird, R88, I had PBJ saltines for dinner a few nights ago! They're perfect when you a) have no bread in the house and b) aren't very hungry.

I absolutely adore oyster crackers and have a firm belief that they should only go in tomato soup and chowders and nothing else. I also believe salads containing both fruits and vegetables are unholy.

I recently bought some kind of Annie's organic crackers at Grocery Outlet for 99 cents -- I didn't expect to like them because that brand's stuff is always so busy being healthy that it lacks taste. I was right, so I broke some up and put them outside for the squirrels and birds. It turns out they LOVE them and I can hardly keep up with the demand! Now the price has dropped to 47 cents as the expiration date looms and I plan to buy a few more boxes for the wildlife.
