Greatest Movie Star of the 20th Century

Not Actress. Not Actor. Not Performer. MOVIE STAR!

by Anonymousreply 12January 18, 2022 12:10 PM

Male: Brando

Female: Monroe

Not my favorites, but they were the greatest ones.

by Anonymousreply 1January 17, 2022 3:37 PM

Marilyn Monroe, of course.

by Anonymousreply 2January 17, 2022 3:39 PM

This crowd is going to vote for Liz or Marilyn.

Is anyone else here because of last night’s counter programming to the football playoffs?

I think Monroe's career was too brief to qualify. Taylor had longevity and, even though she was not the greatest actress and made some stinkers, she was indeed the Earth Mother and we are all flops!!!

Liz Taylor easily. But where is Garbo, OP ? She probably saw the highest peaks of stardom than probably anyone else. She was virtually treated as a deity.

Joan Crawford

Clark Gable

I don’t think any of the men rise to the level of Monroe or Taylor as movie stars. It’s probably the same now. Women are always greater movie stars than men

by Anonymousreply 9January 18, 2022 11:36 AM

Where's Clark Gable?!

by Anonymousreply 10January 18, 2022 11:44 AM

At one time, it would have been Chaplin, but his star faded in the 2nd half of the Century.

Gary Cooper
