Like most gay couples arranged by straight people, it's almost always a bottom dating another bottom.

The guy with the dog and the dog are a good match, but even the dog looks as though it hates the other guy.

Well, there is an attractiveness disparity in the present case, I grant you, R1 (though that isn't always the most decisive factor). That's why my question was about the many gay pairings whom regular readers of the column will have read about.

Self absorbed gays always thinking they can do better. You have to tick every box with these types and they will look for faults.

Attractiveness disparity can be balanced by a pull, a draw, but there was none. The same goes for class differences, easily balanced by a pull or a draw. Even intelligence disparity. But if there is no balance, than it isn't going to work. This is why blind dates go nowhere. People will pursue someone just a little bit, and this might be mere seconds of glances to minutes of flirting or talking, to hours, to days, to weeks, because there is a draw. If the draw is mutual, something will happen.

Sometimes it doesn't have to be even Steven but the two need to have the same references and values about everything. For attractiveness, a 5 can be with a 9 but the 5 usually puts effort into making his 5 "look good". This is true for other things. If you fawn over your date about his glamorous travel, it speaks to what you are lacking. People don't like obvious neediness on dates. They don't mind discovering it later, sometimes.

"Oh, he thinks I'm a glamorous traveling sophisticate. Well, I am. And come to think of it, I certainly can't travel with a rube or prole like him."

I never can figure out who DL will find attractive or not. They both seem solidly average to me, am I supposed to find one of them hot?

Mr. Choppers isn't "hot" but he started off with basically solid materials and has gone through the attractiveness procedure. He's therefore pleasant and attractive, similar to well-processed food.

Blind dates seem like a crapshoot - most people need at least an initial attraction and then get to know someone. But when dating blind you're leaving out that initial attraction for most people.

They both alienated me with the lactose intolerance droning. Seriously, why would anyone think other people would be interested to read about that?

Two bottoms... would've never worked out unless they brought in a third who's a top. But even then, I suspect the inevitable jealousy would cause total collapse and the whole relayionship to end in tears.
