I don't know, lots of kids who turn out to be gay had obvious signs before they hit puberty and developed sexual feelings. Though I find it hard to imagine someone that young being able to apply something as nuanced as bisexuality to their prepubescent feelings. As a 6-7 year old, I knew that seeing a naked man on TV excited me whereas seeing a naked woman's body didn't. Same when catching a glimpse of naked male bodies in those mid-70's porn mags that I would see when I'd visit my older cousins. Many large school organizations in the US have guidelines on affirming their genders and sexualities - Chicago Public Schools, for example - and this is what the teachers are required to do. Google "gender affirming care school guidelines" and you'll see a lot of school systems are part of it.

Several Raul stans invaded DL, took over the then popular threads about him and speculated on both Raul's and his character's sexuality. The show never said that Barba was gay or bi, though many thought the character was gay. Raul's fans made a huge deal of Raul being bisexual and felt insulted that his character on SVU wasn't also an out bi man. If you mentioned to any of them that Raul himself wasn't an out bi man, they had meltdowns of the highest order. If posters implied that they felt that Barba was a gay man, Raul's stans freaked the fuck out. Many of them harassed writers for the show on social media and made campaigns to get SVU to have an out bi character. One of the show's writers eventually (according to Raul stans here on DL) befriended a couple of these loons, and they claimed that they convinced her that the show needed a bi character since B.D. Wong's character was an out gay man and was therefore the token gay. If you have Twitter, you'll see that the head show runner from the old Raul days is back, and according to DL, those crazed fans also tweeted at him non-stop for a bi character in honour of Raul.

I'm not sure it rises to the level of love or hate.

I'm a big fan of the mothership and & CI, and *some* of the old SVU episodes, which were actually entertaining, moving at times etc. But I've always thought SVU was the weakest of the three shows in the franchies (sorry I don't really count Organized Crime, Trial By Jury etc because I've never watched them and don't care about them).

Count me in as someone who is uncomfortable with transition at a young age being promoted even as media are told not to publish de-transition stories or describe any of the medical treatments as significant.
